  1. Russia, anyone been?

Yeah I'm a bit nervous tbh. Since Litvinenko got murdered in London in 2006, Russian & British relations soured a bit and citizens of the UK now have to pay £75 for a Russian tourist visa. We've been advised not to drink outside of the hotel or really leave it after 10pm... Hmmmm.
  2. Weight Loss 2009

According to Wii Fit I'm down to 9st 11lbs this morning which means since mid-January I've lost exactly 2 stone. This pleases me Just 10lbs more to go to my target of 9st 1lb (58kg), which hopefully I can achieve in about 5-7 weeks. I lifted weights of 16kg this morning as well to see just how much weight I've lost and I'm shocked at how heavy it is (and I was). I can feel bones again for the 1st time in 5 years hips, ribs, chest, it's bloody great. I'm really starting to feel the health benefits as well now, at uni I have 3 lectures a week on the 4th floor of my building and I can conquer the stairs quicker than all my buddies go in the lift, which is awesome because before I couldn't pass the 1st floor without being out of breath. Onward... destiny.
  3. Formula 1 2009

Yeah it turns out that it was McLaren and Hamilton that gave misleading information and as a result the whole team have been disqualified from the race including Hekkei Kovalianen (not that it made a massive difference to him...). Pretty stupid of them really but in retrospect it's pretty fair.
  4. Formula 1 2009

I'm really not a Hamilton fan, I don't like his attitude to the other drivers at all, or the fact that he's a tax dodger but the FiA really seem to have it in for him and are determined not to let him succeed. I feel sorry for the guy he just can't do anything right.
  5. Formula 1 2009

I think the KERS story was a really bad April fools 'joke'. At least that's what I gathered from the DigitalSpy forums.
  6. Wii Fit

I'm only 5"3' My BMI is 24.5 which is .5 off of overweight.
  7. Wii Fit

Had Wii fit for a month and a half. Started in the middle of a weight loss programme at 11st 3lbs, now 9st 12lbs. I find it really useful for maintaining targets and doing a light workout instead of weights or a run. Plus the muscle excersices and Hula hooping mini game are really good for targeting specific areas.
  8. Formula 1 2009

This is getting stupid now. FIA - F-OFF changing the race results!
  9. I lol'd. Great stuff.
  10. MadWorld

After playing for a lot longer today I think I'm going to change my opinion slightly. I've revisited the earlier levels and found a great deal more enjoyment trying to get the higher rankings for the kills where as before I was just trying to get to the boss and going all out with the chainsaw. The strategy element is quite rewarding, there's nothing like watching 3 guys each with 2 signposts embedded in their skulls and stuck in a barrel being decapitated by the waste bin lid. I think I was a bit quick in overlooking many of the more strategic elements and don't think it's as shallow as I first imagined. After spending more time with it I'm convinced Madworld is a rip off / tribute to No More Heroes. The OTT violence, hordes of goons, bosses and anti-mainstream art style are very similar in both games and I'm sure NMH had a fair amount to do with inspiring Madword. I maintain what I previously said about the art style and the music being excellent. It's such a pleasure to see the presentation pulled off so beautifully. The visuals are awe-inspiring and ooze an immense amount of charachter and individuality that fit wonderfully with the context of the content of the game. I acquired the soundtrack earlier today and alongside the visuals it's wonderfully unique and original, again fitting extremely well within the context of the game. Presentation wise this is one of the best games on the Wii by an absolute mile. Developers please take note. I'm still finding the controls a bit clunky and unresponsive at times which is my main disapointment. Overall though I actually think this game is worthy of an 8 though it isn't quite as good as NMH I'm only around half way through but i can't see the game getting any better, though it's still very good. Even if the story blows me away and the later levels are amazing the controls do hamper the experience slighlty and I'm a bit surprised IGN thought it was worthy of a 9 with some of the issues people have mentioned here. At the end of the day though it's a very fun game that most gamers should have in their collections. I recommend it highly and it stands out amongst the other titles on the market at the moment, even if it isn't perfect.
  11. Formula 1 2009

If it stays dry (which I don't think it will) I'll say Button will probably win again. If it rains it could be anyones, literally anyones.
  12. Happy April 1st!

Colour me confused, then bemused, then amused. :p
  13. I Pity da Fools!

Not an April fools joke as such, but N64 magazine had an 'exclusive preview' of next years April cover one April (maybe 1999) and it had "Super ultimate swearing brothers" on the faux front cover after Shigsy stated that mario would grow up in the next installment. Banjo-Sixie was "previewed" and Jes Bickham was giving a hands on playtest to "Porta 64" which was an N64 machine that was portable (except it had no buttons or a screen...) Can't remember anything else but it was at the height of N64's comedy and it's a testament to how good it was that I still remember that much.
  14. Wii General Discussion

Thanks for that, just picked up Dewy's Adventure for a measly £6.86. I know it got naff reviews, but people on boards seem to really like it. If I'm correct it was made by the Eledees team and I really liked that game.
  15. Mario Strikers Charged Football...Revisited

Had it about a year ago and I loved it. For me it was one of the local multiplayer highlights on Wii. Online was prone to cheaters but was OK and good for the time when it first came out. It's a great game though, extremely fun, tight controls and fairly challenging later on into the single player. Well worth the £15 I paid.
  16. MadWorld

I've played this for about 2 hours and have just done the first motorbike mission. I'm on the fence at the moment, the game really doesn't quite have the wow factor I was expecting and there doesn't seem to be a whole host of variety. I am in love with the unique graphics and music though and atmospherically the game is amazing, really sucks you in to the style. I'm just not sure if there's going to be enough "game" to justify the £25 I paid. Certainly not a patch on NMH. Bosses so far are OK but nothing spectaculer. Motion is a bit hit and miss and the PAL conversion is DREADFUL. What were Platinum games thinking?! Is it really too much to ask for a full screen game without black borders?? It's 2009 not 1989. So far 6.5-7/10.
  17. Formula 1 2009

Well that was a good session, here's hopiong Jenson can get the win. Also it's great to see Vettel in 3rd. It's going to be a great race!
  18. GDC 2009

So they could include a manager mode, which doesn't crash.
  19. Formula 1 2009

Turns out that the protests against the diffusers have been rejected, appeals will be heard by the FIA after Malaysia (Gpupdate.net). It seems likely now that the results from the first 2 races won't be overturned but instead the teams will be asked to change their designs, or maybe not if the appeal is rejected. A good result in my opinion, and I really can't see them changing the standings of 2 races, especially after Charlie Whiting and a bunch of stewards threw out the inital objection. Time to get on with the racing now I think! Practice 1 is live on BBCi at 1:25am tonight. I will be watching! can't wait now!
  20. Formula 1 2009

WDC: Difficult to say now but I'm going for Massa or Alonso WCC: Ferrari Number of Points Force India Score: 2 Good Year For: BMW / Brawn / Toyota Bad Year For: Hamilton Mclaren's Year: Hamilton finishes 6th / Kovi finishes 10th in the WDC This Years Controversy: Diffusers. Bernie tries to create tension amongst the teams. Hamilton Penalised For: No one notices him, so he isn't.
  21. Formula 1 2009

The diffuser row is ridiculous. I can see Brawn, Williams and Toyota being disqualified in Australia, and IF Brawn win or get a podium that will be, well... shit. I think ProDrive and USGP will definatly be on the grid next year so there will be at least 24 cars.
  22. ZELDA Wii

After seeing the new Zelda on the DS, natural progression says that Nintendo will probably make Zelda Wii; An on-rails shooter. *Leaves* Seriously though, I would love a steampunk Zelda and the train in the DS version is a small hint that it could go that way. I would prefer another cel shaded affair though as TP's graphical style just didnt seem to suit the series anymore. Don't get me wrong the art direction was amazing, especially in the Twilight Realm, but generally I think they've gone as far as they can with a 'realistic' approach.
  23. Firmware Update

Nintendo just made a cool million off of the VC. Not really but I'm assuming they will. I just spent £20 on my US VC: Mario 64, Zelda OOT and Starfox 64. Lovely. :p
  24. Toy Story Mania!

    *Facepalm*
  25. Jade Goody Dead

I think the real question here is... is it possible to go too far?
