  1. How can he be when I can beat him in multiplayer?
  2. Am beginning to get seriously p**sed off with this now. Have got 3 stars on 50cc and 100cc and on some of the 150cc and Mirror Mode tracks, and 2 stars on all the others, but am finding it impossible to get all 3 stars, basically because of the cheating ai. I can come 1st easily in 3 or the four tracks in each cup, but on the other (and it's not always the same one) almost every time (no exageration) I can be driving a perfect race, and hardly get hit by anything, and then with the finish line in site on the last lap get bombarded with blue shells, red shells, green shells, you name it, with absolutely no time to recover and regain my lead. I posted previously about how on one track, I could guarantee when I was going to be hit on the last lap as it happened every time, and I mean every time. I then rebooted my 3DS and it then didn't happen on this track for a while. It was almost as it the ai had got 'stuck'. But I'm begining to wonder how the ai is calculated, because my son has managed to get 3 stars on every level and said that this hardly ever happened to him. He then watched me play and, surprise surprise, I got bombarded. However, when we play multiplayer, I beat him most of the time, so it's not as if he's better than me. I've even tried using the same car/wheels/wings as him, but this doesn't help. BUT, I'm determined the cheating **&&!%$$ is not going to beat me and I will get 3 stars!!!
  3. Just though I'd update this. Sent the Wii off on the 6th using the Freepost label, which was a 48 hour delivery service. When booking the repair online, I gave my email address and mobile number so they could keep me informed. I then started to get texts and emails as follows:- Tuesday morning (10th) - they'd received the Wii. Wednesday afternoon - they'd started the repair. Thursday afternoon - repair was complete and they'd despatched it. Friday morning - Wii turned up fully repaired. So am very impressed. However, the thing that totally amazed me is that they didn't charge for the repair at all, even though it is over 5 years old! Have been playing with it all weekend and all's fine. Don't think you can get better customer service than this.
  4. Thanks for the compliments. We're looking at maybe adding some sound to it to make it even better. And yes, he's definitely going to be making some more. He's already getting the scenery sorted. He's also asked if I can buy him some proper lighting for his 'studio'.
  5. Thanks. He's 14, and has always being very artistic and creative
  6. Well, I tried the cleaner (I tried about 5 or 6 times!) and it made no difference whatsoever. It was able to read the disk enough to know what the game was so that I could launch it from the Game channel, but it then just errored. I then tried laying the console down and in this case, it wouldn't even recognise the disk! So it's had to go of the the repair centre. Was quite impressed that they give you a pre-paid label to send it to them, even though the console is now 5 and a bit years old (I got it at launch). Anyone know roughly how long they take to repair and send back?
  7. In case any of you are interested, have posted a video on YouTube that my son did on his 3DS using the new stop motion feature. Took him several hours just for 50 seconds of video! Personally, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of video achieved. The file has not been altered in any way and was just uploaded directly from his 3DS's SD card.
  8. Got this for Christmas and sailed through the 50cc with 3 stars on each level and was really enjoying it until..... I had a strange thing happen on the 100cc which I don't know if it was a bug or some serious bad luck on my part. On the Special Cup, Bowsers Castle, EVERY time I was coming round the final bend on the last lap, just before the jump to the finish line, I would get bombarded! Always a blue shell, and sometimes other items as well, which meant that I could never finish first. After about 5 unsuccessful attempts, I then moved on to the Shell Cup. First race, Luigi's Raceway, I was well in the lead, coming round the final bend to the finish line, when, yet again, I got hit by a blue shell, then a red shell, which then meant I didn't finish first. Let's just say that a few choice words were directed towards my 3DS and I was seriously thinking of trading the game in!!! I'd had my 3DS turned on for a few days and hadn't exited MK7 during this time, so I decided to exit and turn my 3DS off. The next day, I turned it on again and had another try at the Special Cup. This time I completed it with 3 stars and (touch wood) since then, I haven't had the blatant cheating/bad luck that I experienced before. So has anyone else experienced this? Was I just unlucky, or, as I suspect is more the case, did the AI of my MK7 get 'stuck' on destroying me with a blue shell just before the finish? Am now enjoying the game again!
  9. I have it vertical i.e. standing up using the stand as opposed to laying down flat (horizontal). So should I try it flat? Still waiting for the cleaner to arrive, although realistically, not expecting it for a few more days yet due to the Christmas post. Have got 4 new Wii games ready and waiting to be played . . . .
  10. Typical. Here we are just a couple of days before Christmas and my Wii has decided to start giving me the "an error has occured ...." message. Have ordered a Wii lens cleaning disc in the hope it's just dirt, but if this doesn't work, I'll have to send it off for repair. So it looks like all the games I've bought for the kids this Christmas are likely to just sit there for a month or so. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!
  11. Had a really strange thing happen on Friday. I'd been carrying both my own and my daughter's 3DS's with me. They were both next to each other in my briefcase. When I got home from work, we checked and, apart from obviously having each other on our streepass, we also had 2 other people. However, and this is the strange thing, one of the people was the same on both our 3DS's, but our 2nd streetpasses were for different people! How could that possibly happen when the consoles were right next to each other?????
  12. Today was the first day for over a week that I didn't get any streetpasses. It's funny how disappointed I was at this!
  13. I hate to admit it, but I also read the Sun. Not that I take everything it says seriously. It's just an easy read to pass the journey to work. I agree with Arnieboy about how awful their gaming page is. I've always felt that the guy who does it is a Sony fanboy. Now here's a thought. . . The gaming correspondent is a Sony fanboy, Nintendo bring out a revolutionary new console several months before Sony release their new console, and there's lots of scaremongering going on about how terrible the 3DS is. . . . . . Maybe I'm reading into this more than I should?
  14. lol Not quite THAT close!
  15. Got my first girl today! I think this is great - it's amazing how just seeing the little green light gets you all excited! I've picked up 6 so far. All have been whilst my 3DS was in a case which was inside my briefcase. Does anyone know how close you need to be? I must confess that I've started walking past people a bit closer than I used to, purely for the Street Pass!
  16. I keep mine on all the time. I tested out how long it could last this week. I had it fully charged when I went out early Tuesday morning, only played with it for about an hour over the next couple of days, but the battery didn't run out until late on Thursday night. So that was 3 full days on standby, with an hours play. Was fairly impressed with that.
  17. I have to agree. One of the things I commented on at the London event was how good the build quality seemed compared to previous DS's, and having now bought one, I'm not going to change this opinion. Also, I've not had mine freeze on me once. I just guess that, like all things, there's bound to be the odd rogue machine out there. At least whoever has one of these should be able to take it back to the shop for a replacement. ** Just checked my 3DS, and I've picked up 3 people on Street Pass on my way to work this morning!
  18. Nando - I noticed you said that if you move your glasses, the effect is better. Have you tried playing without your glasses? When I first tried the 3DS at the London event, I couldn't get the 3D at all, just horrid double vision. I took my glasses off and everything fell immediately into place and look great. Also, as my wife is always commenting, if anyone has got a squint, the chances are they won't be able to see the 3D at all.
  19. Just got back from Gamestation. Seems like Game / Gamestation's server couldn't handle to demand and tills were crashing all over the place. Managed to eventually get my console, plus a couple of freebies, but I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of very angry people who aren't able to get one.
  20. Just had a thought about NOE's offer of a free T-Shirt for the first 3000 to register their 3DS. As the UK is at least an hour behind the rest of Europe, what are the chances of anyone in the UK being one of the first 3000?
  21. Had a phone call from my local Gamestation. Everyone who's pre-ordered through the store will get their 3DS. Also, they're doing a midnight launch event and everyone who attends will have their name put in a draw, with the winner getting their 3DS free! I asked how many they were expecting and was told that, so far, only 13 people had confirmed - that's huge odds for getting a free console. Wasn't originally going to go, but this may just have persuaded me. Plus if I get it at midnight, there's more chance me being one of the first 3000 to register and getting the free T-Shirt.
  22. Sorry, but call me whatever names you'd like, but I've never really got into the Zelda games and would much rather play Ridge Racer (prepares himself for all the insults coming this way!!!). At the London event last month I've never seen such a large collection of, what you would call, bimbos in one place! Having said this, the girl on the AR stand did seem genuinely interested in the console and fairly clued up on things. I did wonder if Nintendo had approached all the agencies in London and asked for their most attractive looking girls for the event!
  23. I played Lego Star Wars at the London event and was pretty impressed with it. OK, the gameplay is your standard Lego Star Wars stuff, but the 3D effect was very good. Whether or not it was any better than others and should be used to show off your 3D, I can't really say as I wasn't really comparing the 3D effect between games - I was just trying to get my hands on as many games as I could in the short time available!
  24. I'm with / nando / in that I don't really like the blue that much. I think it is the fact the thumb pad isn't blue. I have held and played with the black one and think it looks far smarter. Interestingly, has anyone else noticed that in ONM, some of the photos they've got show the blue console with a blue thumb pad? Could they have paint shopped it, or could it have be a pre-release model?
  25. I agree. I had to tear myself away from playing this just to make sure I saw everything else. I really wasn't expecting that much from it, especially being a built in game, but I can see this being the thing I'll be playing most of all initially.
