If you go to that restaurant in the town that has the water Gym, there's a side quest with the guy behind the counter that ends with him giving you the Lucky Egg. That should speed things up, unless you already did that.

Around Level 60 though, you might be better off using candy from Max Raids instead.

It has evolved into Dragapult now, so shoved it back into the PC and registered it for my competitive team.

I've got about 5 of the 6 team members planned out so far and two are currently on PokeJobs to speed up the process. 4 attackers so far including 3 sweepers as well as 1 wall, so the last Pokemon needs to offer some different kind of role. The team is mainly being made with singles in mind, but a support to switch to Doubles Play could be good too.

  2. Spent most of today playing Pokemon Sword (Switch) while trying to breed fully competitive Pokemon. I now have a fully EV trained Eiscue, all it needs is a Nature change and IV fixing and it's all good. I have the Nature and the EVs for my Dragapult ready but it's still currently a Drakloak and proving to be quite the effort to train up.

I also managed to get my hands on a Fossilized Fish... so a Dracovish is going to be on this competitive team too.

Meanwhile, here's the latest episode of Let's Play Metroid Prime 2 Echoes

There are going to be ads on the video due to some bogus copyright claim on the end screen portion of the video from a company that did a remix of the Red Brinstar theme and claimed to own it, I don't expect my dispute on this to be successful so if they are still there, so be it.

  3. Been a while since I've done an update.

I've mainly been playing Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC), Pokemon Trading Card Game Online (PC), Magic The Gathering Arena (PC) and Pokemon Sword (Switch). I built the iconic Haymaker deck on the Game Boy game and it's careening house against the single player, beat the Grand Masters with relative ease and just the final boss remains.

As for Pokemon Trading Card Game Online I recreated my irl deck on there which was built off a theme deck (Battle Mind) which came with a code anyway so all I did was use the Trade system to get certain items. I made some major tweaks and purchases to boost consistency and although said deck has no EX, GX or Vs/VMAXs it's still a fairly competent deck. I had to dismantle my prerelease deck from Sword and Shield to get some Trainer Cards that the deck needed though.

    zeOoXIS.png

That being said... it doesn't hold a candle to the online only decks I've been making. Here are some of the decks I've been playing on PTCGO:

    ynoM6dD.png

Deck strategy: Search Staryu or Snom, evolve into Starmie or Frosmoth, use either to supercharge Keldeo V or Palkia GX with Water Energy and Smash

    ZtU6RZw.png

Deck strategy: Search Rowlet and Alolan Exeggutor GX, search a Grookey, put Roweggs into active spot, use Super Growth to Evolve Grookey directly into Rillaboom, next turn you can attach 2-3 Energy per turn to help ramp into highly powerful attacks. This deck has won over 50% of the games it's played.

    KWDtcIa.png

This last one is a bit of a rough patch but this deck's strategy is mainly focused around switch Raichu and Alolan Raichu every turn to maximise the damage output from Tandem Shock and leaving the opponent in a constant state of paralysis. There is a big flaw with this deck though and I intend to try and convert this into a full Pikarom deck once I get the missing pieces... including Pikachu and Zekrom GX. Kind of important...

Also, after a bit of a break, my Let's Play of Prime 2 is finally back. Life after the Boost Guardian begins with leaving Torvus Bog to return to Temple Gronuds

On a related note I have already scheduled Part 17 for tomorrow but it's the subject of a bogus copyright claim which I have disputed but not holding out much hope for. If the claim is rejected hopefully my channel still stands, I am not pursuing such a claim any further.

Yeah, it's a much welcome change to vitamins.

(BTW, 26 Proteins to max out attack. And I hope you have another stat you plan on training.)

Yes, but I'm not entirely sure yet. Might be Speed. The general strategy is going to be to take advantage of the ability to set up a Turn 1 Belly Drum and maximise Attack. Then proceed to Sweep until I get KO'd

  5. After a bit of a break from the game I decided to go back recently and start raising a more competitive team to participate in online battles. Well, in terms of training up in terms of EVs that is. I haven't decided what the whole team is going to be yet but my first port of call is to train up an Eiscue and am raising a Lv.1 Eiscue's Attack. Though, I've been putting it on Attack Seminars as I don't have enough money to buy 25 Proteins. And hey, had no idea they lifted the restrictions on those items as I recall you could only use 10 maximum of each and had to gain the rest of the EVs by other means.

  6. Iterative improvements to the Memetree deck on Pokemon Trading Card Game Online (PC) are going well. I've acquired stuff like Shaymin Prism Star, Life Forest Prism Star and Mew EX which I have added to the deck. Here's an earlier screenshot of the deck that I took.

  7.

The launch of the new Sword & Shield set on Pokemon Trading Card Game Online (PC) last night meant I spent a lot of time playing that. I went to the prerelease so already had about 6 packs and a kit in terms of codes in order to start my collection of that particular set but the contents of said packs were far better than what I got in the real ones where I got the one solitary Keldeo V. In my PTCGO packs meanwhile I pulled Morpeko V, Sableye V, Indeedee V and the holo version of Stonjourner V! Crazy luck.

I decided however to en masse trade these cards to match the actual cards I got a prerelease. Well, most of them, there was one particular deck I wanted to build in the Sword and Shield era and after trading for Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor I realised that the prerelease kit got was the Grookey-Pawniard one instead of Galarian Zigzagoon-Sobble which was the actual one I had. I did trade my Morpeko V for a Dhelmise V to use in my new Grass Deck. and I also traded Sableye V for Keldeo V since I actually have that card now. I am missing the Frosmoth that makes Water decks especially powerful in both Online and in real life however.

I tweaked my Grass deck with the new additions and Sword and Shield and wow, this deck suddenly became extremely good. Maybe not top tier by any means but I tested it and it's so fast and efficient at being able to stock up energy, only really lacking in the damage department but you can shuffle all your opponent's energies back into the deck in about 3 turns lol.

Racked up over 2000 coins now on the account so I should have enough money to buy all three Theme Decks and still have over 500 left which I might cash in on a few booster packs in an attempt to try and get Zacian V.

Oh, and the new episode of Let's Play Metroid Prime 2 Echoes dropped last night. It's one of the better ones I've made, mainly because of the inclusion of my own history with FPS cameos which ended in a quip that I still find amusing to listen to...

  8. Bought more cards recently. >.>

Of particular note, I finally cashed in on buying two more copies of Welder for my own Pokemon deck. A team of highly trained Welders has subsequently been assembled and ready to deal with any situation.

    EP8Yul-WoAgq6b8?format=jpg&name=small

I truly believe this card is the reason they changed the rules going forward from the new set onwards.

I also bought a Fire Crystal at the same time to help be able to use these.

Also picked up a few MTG cards. Been getting into Commander recently so been delving into the game's history to help improve the deck. On a week by week basis it's improving with new additions and doesn't feel so far behind some of the decks at my local game store which is encouraging. It's still terribly inconsistent though...

So I put an order in for this card...

  9. So my 100% LP of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes is no longer a 100% LP as it turns out I missed a one time scan back in Part 9 :hmm:

I'll cover that in a later part, for now here is Part 12 after finishing Agon Wastes:

In terms of recording now I have just recorded up to Part 20. Coming towards the end of Torvus Bog now, all I need to do is get all the power-ups and the last Temple Key before I can finish the area. Oh, and I can guarantee at least one on screen Game Over.

  10. Been playing a mixture of games lately though progress on my Let's Play of Metroid Prime 2 has slowed as a result.

I started by playing more of Magic The Gathering Arena doing the usual grind but decided to stop drafting Throne of Eldraine because Theros draft starts this weekend, so I just opened the rest of my packs. But then also decided to go back to Pokemon Trading Card Game Online due to going to the Sword and Shield prerelease and I have found myself entering multiple events on that site after finding out exactly how other people have been getting some of the best cards in the game easily apart from playing for in a while. Turns out the Trading system in the game, the community has set up a currency system in terms of unopened booster packs. You need to win tradable boosters in game but NOT open them, instead use them to "buy" cards in game. So I was able to get a tag team of two of my favourite Alola Pokemon, Rowlet and Alolan Exeggutor, using this system simply by entering multiple tournaments at once.

I also finally made some progress in Hollow Knight. I decided to look up other people's charm setups for the Lost Kin and copied it, I used this setup to finally beat it. Now taking on the Soul Tyrant.

New episode of the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Let's Play went up this evening. This was just supposed to be random item collection but one item in particular turned out to make one of the more interesting parts of the LP so far...

  11. Not sure if this really counts as a "purchase" but I went to two different Trading Card Game Prereleases in two weeks this month. Both were fun times although I came lower half in both of them. I suppose I was effectively buying 7 boosters for each with the opportunity to play with said cards so I'll go through both of them.

First up, Magic The Gathering's Theros Beyond Death. My Rare Pull Rate for this set was not particularly great for the actual rares I got but I did get one particularly interesting rare, alternate art Elspeth Sun's Nemesis:

    3613474-elspeth_suns_nemesis_en_showcase.png

The other five rares I got from the boosters were Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Taranika, Akroan Veteran, Underworld Breach, Temple of Plenty and Temple of Abandon

    thb-169-dryad-of-the-ilysian-grove.pngTaranika, Akroan VeteranUnderworld Breachtempleofplenty.jpgtempleofabandon.jpg

Finally my promo was Labyrinth of Skophos:

    Labyrinth of Skophos

So. this was my decklist for the event:

    https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/theros-beyond-death-selesyna-enchantments/

Played 4, only won 1 unfortunately and lost the other three but only one of them was really a washout.

Of course, knowing my luck I pulled the best card in the entire set in my prize booster pack. FML...

For some reason, one prerelease wasn't enough... so I went to the Pokemon prerelease the following week. It being the start of the Gen 8 era for the Trading Card Game seemed like a good time to try one of these and it was particuarly interesting to compare to Magic The Gathering's Prerelease. They give you a preset pack of evolutions and curiously, as someone who picked Sobble in Sword and Shield, I got the Sobble evolution line in my pre-release pack. I wasn't going to use it initially as "Galarian Obstagoon" (I know it's just Obstagoon but the official card reads Galarian Obstagoon for some reason) looked like a better option but one pack opening changed my mind on what I was going to build, I managed to pull this:

    Image

Pretty much from there it was Keldeo V Turbo. There are so many Search cards in this deck that I decided to build the entire deck around getting this thing out as soon as possible which meant I was able to play this card every single game unless it was in my prize cards. My full decklist is in the spoiler below.

    Spoiler

    Image

    1x Cinccino

    2x Drizzile

    1x Gossifleur

    1x Keldeo V

    2x Inteleon

    2x Minccino

    2x Sobble

    1x Energy Retreival

    1x Energy Search

    1x Energy Switch

    1x Evolution Incense

    1x Great Ball

    2x Hop

    1x Hyper Potion

2x Marnie (This card was basically prerelease in a nutshell)

    1x Poke Kid

    1x Pokemon Center Lady

    2x Pokegear 3.0

    1x Professors Research

    1x Quick Ball

    1x Team Yell Grunt

    1x Auroura Energy

    11x Water Energy

All in all, Prereleases for card games are a pretty fun way to play the game and acquire new cards without having to spend masses amounts of money to get the best cards. However, going to two in the course of two weekends perhaps wasn't the best of ideas... so I'm not going to any prereleases for some time yet.

    • Thanks 1

  12. Inti Creates also have Mighty Number 9 on their resume though...

Anyway, still been playing Magic The Gathering Arena and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and finally got round to recording more of that this evening which meant actually fighting the infamous Boost Guardian. How that went, you'll have to find out, for now here's Part 9:

  13. New set got released on Magic The Gathering Arena (PC) so I went back to that a bit more. Not to start my collection of cards from the new set mind you, rather just to gather packs and get a head start before I rank up to about 50 boosters or so and then open them all at once to accrue wildcards to finish my Dreadhorde deck as I'm just two Rare Wildcards away from being able to finish it. If I can draft to 12 Throne of Eldraine boosters I should be able to get the cards I need to finish the deck as it's so close to being finished.

    Image

Might tweak it, Infuriate has a lot of potential in combination with Dreadhorde Arcanist. All of the Dreadhorde cards are Rares, which is why it has taken so long to grind to get 4 of Arcanist, Butcher and Invasion.

In other news, Let's Play Metroid Prime 2 Echoes continues with the first fight against Dark Samus.

  14. I have been using an Elgato Capture Card to record game footage ever since obtaining it from a friend well over a year ago which lines up with my channel starting to upload video game footage that isn't PS4 Share. Depending on the console used I use an HDMI cable connection or a Audio Video cable converter if the console is PS2/Gamecube/Wii. Right now since the Prime Trilogy is the Wii U downloaded version I am running the HDMI Connection. Elgato's Game Capture HD software helps me record my TV screen and the distance between my laptop and my TV makes this very doable.

Since episode 2 I have also been using a Kotion Each headset for recording purposes. That is where the fanciness ends though because for editing I'm still on the bare bones Windows Movie Maker. If you can afford different editing software that allows you to overlay images onto video and overlay several different things at once then go for it, anything is better than Movie Maker but actual proper editing software costs a lot of money so I'm kind of stuck with it.

    • Thanks 3

  15. Put another part of Metroid Prime 2 up tonight. In terms of actual gameplay however I am currently just before having to face the most infamous boss in the entire game, the Boost Guardian.

Here's his cousin the Jump Guardian though. Excuse the pun title of the episode...

  16. Let's be honest, as soon as they announced a Mystery Dungeon remake I think we all wanted to see @Glen-i's reaction.

DLC for Sword and Shield is a much better deal than releasing the same game again just with more content so I'm glad they didn't go with an "Ultra" version but at the same time I think given how much content was cut for the base game I understand and agree with sentiments on how content that should have been in the base game has been siphoned off and sold seperately.

  17. Got back into recording some more Metroid Prime 2: Echoes recently. I'm now sitting on 7 unreleased parts as of today.

Part 4 went up in which I end up making a reference to a very infamous Let's Player/Streamer whose real name is Phil and whose username starts with D...

  18. Personally I have stopped watching runs of games I've already seen done at the show even if they have become more optimised over the years. However, I am very curious about the speedruns for Marvel's Spider-Man and Pokemon X/Y, especially the former. The schedule says it will be done in one hour so I dread to think what kind of glitches they are going to abuse in the run.
