  1. Yeh that sounds good I think it would mean 15 people went through on merit with 1 person getting through as best runner up. It would then work out as 10/14 dev wise for team who went out at group stage to final. Oh dear I just saw each team plays 2 games at knockout, oh dear that would screw things up a bit and also extend the season for those that get knocked out.
  2. This is an actual champions league that has been played for a bit of an idea oh how it would look http://www.xperteleven.com/standings.aspx?Lid=111&Lnr=1&dh=1
  3. Apparently one of the admins who ran a CL said that bigger playoff groups meaning more guaranteed games was better for letting all teams get a fair amount of dev than shorter ones. I think it would work on this principle. Say you had a group of 4, that is 6 games you would play before you may be knocked out with 3 games for other teams. That means at worst you may play 2/3 of games. If it was a group of 10 that is 18 games played with 3 game for other teams. So at worst you would play 18/21 which is a much less of a gap percentage wise. We could always have 3 groups of 10 almost making it like a normal league season flowing into a cup straight after lol.
  4. Ok so basically it will all depend on how well people do in the CL on where they end up in the League next season. http://www.xperteleven.com/viewGlobalMessageN.aspx?threadID=4262256&forumid=32&read=1 I think things like how well you did in your group will differentiate the teams that fail to make it to the knockouts.
  5. It basically would work like the actual Champions League, I am trying to get some info on the xpert forums this is quite informative. http://www.xperteleven.com/viewGlobalMessageN.aspx?threadID=4764028&forumid=32&read=1 There would be no relegations or promotions we would all just be put into groups and the top 8 would make it through to the QF. The groups can be quite big apparently such as groups of 8 teams. Two things to consider though teams that make it through to the knockouts get extra dev I could see that really causing some anger. The other thing is that I dont know if we could just switch back if you see what I mean? If it would remember our league from two seasons ago or would somehow use the Champions League results to make a league or just make a new one? I dunno it would be great to hear from someone who had experienced a CL format. Hmm doing a bit of digging I think it would change the standings of everyone the season after, http://www.xperteleven.com/viewGlobalMessageN.aspx?threadID=4571672&forumid=32&read=1 In some ways it could be quite fun and personally I would be up for this as a special one off event but I could see lots of people here not liking it?
  6. Here is an idea I expect will go down badly but I thought it might be quite interesting and add a bit of variety to xpert. The season after next is Xpert 11 Season 30. Anyone up for having a world cup style event? It is possible to set up a champions league set up rather than a normal league. I was thinking we could have the cup this season, then normal league Season 29, Season 30 special World Cup, Season 31 Normal season. The only thing that is worrying is god knows how dev and change reports work for this kind of thing has anyone played one? I thought this may break up our usual cycle and make Season 30 a bit special. Anyone will leave it to you guys and Peeps to decide
  7. Pretty good change report this season, everyone went up by one almost apart from veteran goalie, Palmer who I am very surprised by as he had fantastic dev and Doyle who I am not surprised by as he got injured to many times. Looking at my team I am going to be bringing in a new youth midfielder hopefully a 16 year old to make up for the loss of Astle. My forward line needs some time to get a lot stronger tbh and my defence is a bit of a concern. If I were to be promoted frankly I think both of these areas may still not be of a good enough standard for top league football and I may need to bring in a couple of veterans to help the transition. But overall quite pleased!
  8. Something you may already know but I only out recently after playing this game for 6 years lol is that tough players play better when you play bruise. So your defence may benefit from that I have a few tough midfielders so its something I consider if the ref is chilled out. Btw congrats on getting a player to 17 dev! If he double jumps wow you will have a player worth
  9. Don't be to down if they aren't great I basically lost an entire season worth of good development when I abandoned my team and got relegated from the Middle League a few seasons ago lol and things are still good for me. I think the highest dev I have ever got is 17, to get 20 I think you would have to start a 16 year old every game or something lol.
  10. Hopefully Flinky won't leave if he doesn't we will need to get rid of a team to keep it 10-10-10 even if he let (please dont!!!) We would be nowhere near 8-8-8 Btw just noticed Leeds and I ended up with exactly the same points and GD and drew twice!
  11. The problem with changing the structure of the league is it will create a super long season if we do one league that may well put off people, if we change the numbers for other leagues it may cause them to finish at different times or if it is an odd number people will not have games every match day and again may lose interest or be annoyed if they miss setting tactics for a game. Tbh we have always had a couple of dead teams in the lower leagues its just recently we have been great at recruiting and haven't had any dead teams at all!
  12. Ell if its me vs you then thats enough
  13. Why ain't you happy to be a manager again? I'm numb with xpert, this season I stayed up but the psychic wound may be permanent. You ever been dirty tricked or humiliated Flinky? Once when I played Ell he raped me. (Dirty tricks Flinky) Stop it Haden. Are you relegated? Well my team needs development but I didn't go down. And obviously you didn't go down when Ell destroyed you, so including the beatdown by Winston that is three humilations that didn't relegate you. Losses, humilations, don't end you or PR putdowns or dirty tricks. This game ends when you resign until then you have more punishment in store, stand it like a man and give some back... Round 12: Season Ends Awards Start Rossers Rovers 0-2 Hadens Rangers Rangers secured a routine victory against a Rovers side lacking any real direction. Rovers and Rangers both played 4-4-2 and shared equal amounts of possession with Rangers just edging this. However Rangers were more creative making 5 chances to just 2 for Rovers. It took two veterans to get the breakthrough as Mallett found Astle in space, the midfielder in his last season with Rangers made no mistakes when thumping the goal into the corner. Things began to flow well for Rangers as the youth Mossley swung in a corner Mallett connected with a viscous volley that hit the goalie and parried into the net. Rovers had nothing to offer in return and Rangers saw out this match with ease. Rovers after a promising start to the campaign now look doomed as their manager seems to have abandoned them. Rangers on the other hand are getting inconsistent results but seem to be winning just enough to keep their head above water. DuDs Baggies 3-1 RFC The Baggies powered to an emphatic victory against league leaders RFC. Baggies looked full of confidence with a 3-5-2 formation against 4-5-1 for RFC. It all started well for Baggies as Izon fed Ashe who curled in a long range shot after just 4 minutes. RFC lost defender Iwanicki on the 23rd minute and then that man Shearer headed Baggies two up before half time. RFC having made only one chance in the first half looked lacking of ideas and the manager subbed two players on after the break, however this backfired as Baggies hit on the break when Ashe floated a long ball above everyone into the path of Nixon who beat the goalie with ease. Sauber chalked up a powerful long range shot to get RFC a consolation but Baggies frankly deserved this win which keeps their title hopes alive and shows RFC are just a club not an unbeatable machine. Winston Gardens FC 2-4 AC Elites It seems odd now to think both these teams were once in the top league as Winston have struggled while the Elites seem to be on the path to promotion. This was a fantastic game however, both sides played 4-4-2 and it was high pace from the get go. The Elites dominated proceedings but it was Winston who took the lead as Akera smashed a long range punt in off the crossbar. Two controversial penalities in the space of 4 minutes saw Pratchett making it 1-1 and then Joyce restoring Winston's lead. After the break the Elites began to assert their dominance, they again levelled this time courtesy of a Faketura header and then at this point sieged the Winston box making 8 chances to 1 in the 2nd half. It was Steele who got the breakthrough as he lobbed the Winston goalie who was caught off his line. A Huber cross that was headed in by Brain sealed the result. However a very nasty confrontation between Faketura and the Winston captain Thomas happened at the end of the match. Thomas won the ball from Faketura while he was wasting time, Faketura seemed embarrassed by this and pushed Thomas into the stands provoking a furious reaction from the whole of Winston's team. The two teams clashed in the centre circle and the referee had to both calm them down and send Faketura off, a bad end to a great match. Dragooooo 6-3 Fedex United Dragooooo had a topsy turvy dramatic win against a Fedex side that seemed on the verge of a great comeback. Dragooooo came out all guns blazing with a 4-5-1 formation against the usual 4-4-2 for Fedex. Dragooooo began the scoring when Wielink lofted in a freekick for Iacopino to poke home. With over 60% possession their assault was relentless, Strindlov combined with Barculo not once but twice first setting the lone striker up for a tap in then a headed goal. Moments later Strindlov himself scored from a blistering close range shot that flew past a helpless goalie. Fedex fans seemed consigned to a defeat but some hope appeared when Platt found the defender Pearce of all people past Dragooooo's defence and able to shoot home. Fedex's manager looked fuming and his team came out with passion in the 2nd half, that man Platt appeared again this time hitting in a close range shot set up by Potts. Potts who was brought on at half time then headed in a goal to make it 4-3 with 30 minutes to go! Dragooooo's manager looked concerned and brought on Forsyth and then Farlan to help turn the game back around. It had an instant impact, Forsyth was to quick for Fedex and nipped down the wing to cross in a perfect ball for Iacopino to head in the bottom right corner. Then Farlan dribbled out of trouble and set up Forsyth for a long range shot which he dispatched to make it 6-3. This was a fantastic match to watch, Fedex were outplayed in midfield but the home side will worry that they conceded 3 but will be thrilled to score 6 with only 1 recognised striker. Coloccini FC 2-2 Leeds M.O.T Coloccini really went for the win in this game playing 3-5-2 against an adventurous Leeds that picked a 3-4-3 formation. In a close first half Leeds made the breakthrough when Burchell slotted in Townshend who dispatched a finish with class to put Leeds ahead. Surprisingly Leeds were gaining more possession but Coloccini began to make more chances in the 2nd half. Haslop hit in a fantastic direct freekick to the delight of the home fans. Then soon after Murgita drew away Leeds sparse defence and found Costa with a beautiful through-ball, Costa rounded the goalie to make it 2-1. Coloccini failed to see the game out however, it was the dangerman Townshend again who beat two men and curled in the ball for Howson how emphatically headed it home. Neither side could find the killer blow but Coloccini will feel they could have won this with 9 chances to only 5 for Leeds. Ell you should do your predictions competition for next season this reminds me how bad I am at that :P
  14. You are going to be drawn away to me! So you will win easily. Which may be our only chance to play for a while as I think you may be staying up no matter what now Oddy is leaving?
  15. If you play around with wing plays, through plays and long shots now you get little graphics showing what your players do, very cool! Btw for Middle League reports, I am going to post Round 12 later today and will then be doing a short version of 13-18 with awards. The 3 award winning managers will then be able to pick 1-3 and the winning one will get a 3 month VIP prize.
  16. I always liked Andy All Stars tbh him and you being brothers makes sense as you both have a similar approach to the game very youth orientated. I also want to say thanks to Odwin, without you this game would not have existed at least in these forums! You also guided us all through the early stages and then kicked our behinds :P It will not be the same but will be a new era, still you will be missed In some positive news, J7 is up for the cup and Madpool will be back in action next season! We still could do with another one or two new people though I think so anyone from work, home or forums send the word out!
  17. Xpert Eleven is a football manager game where you manage a fictitious football team. The thought behind the game is that you compete with your friends in a league that you create yourselves. A league must contain at least 6 teams and there is no upper limit. You can also have teams in more than one league. You manage your team/teams in good times as well as bad. Your tasks consist of selecting your team and working out some cunning tactical moves. The NE League has now been going for 28 seasons which equates to about 6 years. We play our games on Tuesday and Friday afternoons through the site xpert 11. It started as a small league and has now grown to 30 teams spread across 3 ten team leagues. I think the appeal of the game lies in the banter that we have, from the rivalry of Charlie and Ell to Tales vs Zell for the modern day Xpert crown and the hilarity of bob and his ultra offensive (in every sense of the word) tactics. It is a game that is simple to learn but hard to master where you can tailor your own tactics. We are a friendly community and always make new members very welcome. We are in our off season now and it is the perfect time for anyone interested in football management, tactical games or just wanting to be part of a historic playground game to join. The invite link is here http://www.xperteleven.com/?lid=120161 More importantly our thread is here http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40813 Thank you for reading.
  18. Scratch that new thread is up please go in and say what a great game this is
  19. Might be time to bust out the old recruitment thread? So far we are -Oddy -Andy ? Flinky ? MadDog ? Twozzok ? Rossers +J7 +(Hopefully) Blade +(Hopefully Esqueil The last two I have PMd and both seem interested but could be a doomsday scenario brewing anyone have any contacts to help bring in new blood?
  20. Bit of a weird situation at the moment numbers wise, could be pretty good or bad. J7 has joined Blade said he would and has the link. Twozzok, and Rovers seem inactive unsure if anyone is friends with Rossers Rovers? Flinky and MadDog are maybes. Andy All Stars is a dead team but its good to have one of those in the lower league. Anyone have any leads of new people that could join, it is up to Peeps but we could always bust out the xpert recruitment thread in gen chit chat that usually gets us at least one new person.
  21. Yeh it does so it is never wasted. My form is so good atm but I am playing away to RFC next, going to take huge form hits all over the place when he destroys me Round 11: Session in progress AC Elites 1-2 DuDs Baggies The Baggies kept their momentum flying high with a stand out victory against AC Elites at the Elites own ground. The Elites went for a 4-4-2 formation while Baggies took a big risk playing 3-5-2. Both sides seemed to be probing each other at first with only 1 chance made in the 1st half. In the 2nd it was Szymanek who made the break through as his shot found a path past a Elites goalie whose vision had been obscured by a packed defence. Six minutes later Dhall curled in one of his trademark freekicks to make it 2-0 and send the Baggies fans wild. It must be noted that the Elites had 64% possession in this match and eventually made this pay when on the 78th minute Brain found Pratchett who sent the goalie the wrong way with a close range shot. However the Baggies closed down and Mulholland at the back was having a fantastic game organising his defence. This was a great win for Baggies and a disappointing day for the Elites. Leeds M.O.T 3-0 Rossers Rovers Leeds and Rovers met playing 4-4-2 but the Leeds side dominated from the get go. With 8 shots to 1 there was only going to be one winner in this match. Mancebo was the architect for two headed goals either side of half time, one foud the head of Howson the other of Burchell. Then Howson and Burchell linked as Howson hit a through-ball to Burchell who stabbed a shot home. Leeds were very productive in this game and their midfield was especially strong, their manager looked very pleased with a routine victory which keeps them in the top half of the league. Hadens Rangers 2-4 Dragooooo Both of these teams have had a topsy turvy season and it carried on today. Restricted by injuries Rangers played a 4-5-1 formation against a daring 3-5-2 from Dragooooo. Rangers struck first as Mulholland hit a ball into the path of Mossley who trapped it and hit it past an incoming goalie. However some poor defending cost Rangers as Barculo was taken out in the box, Barculo himself took the penalty and sent the Rangers keeper the wrong way with a careful shot. Things went from bad to worse for Rangers as star defender Zabel picked up a niggle and was substituted for youth Somner. This played into Dragooooo's hands as Barculo caused more mischief this time setting up Hottges for a tap in. After the break the away side kept up the pressure and Wielink hit in a stunning pin point long shot to make it 3-1. Again Mossley placed himself well to lose the away teams defence and triumphed in another one on one situation. It was to be Dragooooo's day though they soaked up some late pressure and then hit back with a breakaway as Le Frapper beat the offside trap to make it 4-2. The humiliation for Rangers was complete as a late penalty for the home side was blasted over by defender Palmer. This was a great win for Dragooooo and both these sides are now very much in the relegation battle. Coloccini FC 6-0 RFC The shock result of the day came in the form of Coloccini's match of the season against RFC. Both teams played with a 3-5-2 formation but right from the word go the home side flew out of the starting blocks. Haslp scored via a free kick and penalty in the first half, while Stockley out ran a flagging RFC defence to hit a ball in for Costa to head home. A header by Quila started off the 2nd half as RFC looked deflated, 4-0 behind they were 2nd best in every area of the pitch and had under 40% possession. Coloccini were relentless as Mallo fed a through ball to Murgita who made it 5-0 before he was brought down late in the game and had to be taken off on a stretcher. This was the only bad point for Coloccini who finished the game off as Rowley stampeded forward from defence to feed Madeley who toe poked the pass in to make it 6-0. RFC fans were bemused while Coloccini fans were singing all the way home a fantastic result for this team. Fedex United 3-3 Winston Gardens FC Two teams who are looking to avoid the drop fought a titanic battle today at United's ground. Fedex set up with 4-3-3 against Gardens 3-5-2. This led to Winston being dominant in chance creation with 9-4 but Fedex being put into a 3vs3 situation in every attack. The first attack some Theakston blast in a long shot which almost looked like a cross but floated past a backtracking goalie. Not be outdone Rosebotham found some space of his own and curled in a wonderful long shot to tie the game up. The 1st half petered out but right at the start of the 2nd Goodison found a gap in the wall to make it 2-1 to Gardens via a direct free kick. Fedex responded by bringing on Figueroa who had an instant impact as Blackburn swung in a cross which he headed in. Blackburn again conducted play as he this time teed up Akerland who pounded home a long shot to give the home side the lead. Gardens poured forward in search of a goal as they bossed the midfield, it seemed unlikely to come until right at the last on the line of the box Ingham was pushed. The referee pointed to the spot before being surrounded by Fedex players and booed intensely by the home crowd they were sure it was a free kick! The whistling carried on as Rosebotham stood up, he looked down ran up and smacked it in straight down the middle! He ran to the away fans who started chanting his name as the Fedex players again surrounded the referee distraught. How vital could this point be? Most Important Results: AC Elites 1-2 DuDs Baggies Dragooooos victory was also important but on the back of last week DuD needed to keep up momentum and this result was huge, beating the Elites away from home takes some doing and the Baggies really showed their promotion or even championship credentials today. Stylish Team: Colocinni FC The most incredible result, beating RFC of all teams 6-0! The fans must be wondering why the team can't do this every week? Outstanding. Player of the round: Archie Rosebotham, Winston Gardens Rosebotham did what a captain should do today and led his team, he scored a shot to bring them level once and then was not intimidated by a furious home crowd to hit in a penalty to bring his team level a 2nd time. 22. I meant in the proper leagues... Just kidding you should be good to go if you get your players up to 16 that is very good.
  23. Man that is remarkable, what else is outstanding is how you have the most goals scored with frankly not an amazing attack. Shearer seems to score so much even though he isn't rated that highly it must be his special abilities! Well done this season I doubt you are going to win the league but you have done great. Your team is quite big what I always do as a rule is get veteran players to 10 so they dont decrease and get the 25 and unders as high up as I can especially 20 or under want them hitting 16 DV plus.
  24. How are peoples devs looking? For the players that I want to go up most are at 15 or better but I sadly have two players who have enjoyed a rather poor season and are at 13 and 12 atm want them to get to 15 and 14 respectively before the season is over.
  25. Round 9 and 10 Double Special: Every shot you take. Hadens Rangers 2-1 Fedex United Fedex United 0-0 Hadens Rangers In this double Rangers got the better of Fedex by winning at home and holding them to a draw away. In the first game Rangers played an aggressive 3-5-2 against Fedex who went for 4-4-2. After a back and forth first half Akerland fired Fedex ahead to the joy of away fans. However in the 2nd half Rangers began to push back, the pressure paid and they were awarded a penalty which Astle smashed in. Cahill who was brought on soon after the goal got Rangers second from a fantastic header. The game got more frantic after this with Atum unable to control himself picking up two yellows in the space of 6 minutes. In this chaotic period veteran Rangers striker Mallett was badly injured to the anger of his manager. Rangers held out in the end in what was a very entertaining match. In the return fixture both teams seemed more prepared for each other as they played 4-4-2 and chances were at more of a premium. Both teams tried to freshen things up but in the end neither side could make the breakthrough and the defences won out against attacking play. In the end Rangers will be very glad to have won this double, it helps then move up the table at the direct expense of Fedex. Rossers Rovers 0-2 RFC RFC 2-0 Rossers Rovers This was a really tough double for Rovers against the in form team of the Middle League. In the first game Rovers tried to play a balanced game but RFC simply dominated with their attacking 3-5-2 formation. They dictated play as if it was their own ground with 63% possession and 9 chances against 2. Of the RFC superstars it was Fosatti who won this game for them, firstly setting up Sauber with a beautifully curling corner and then misdirecting the keeper with a free kick minutes later. It was a fantastic game for RFC and in the 2nd game they tried to replicate but chose to go with a 3-4-3 formation while Rovers stuck with 4-4-2. Rovers had the measure of their opponents to begin with and limited their chances to just 2. Indeed RFC had to shuffle the deck a bit and brought on Taveira who soon made a difference by finding Lajes fr a headed goal. This goal got the crowd going and soon the win was secured when Normqvist played in an overlapping Weyermann who deftly chipped the goalie. This was an expected double win but a good six points for RFC who forge closer to the Elite League. Coloccini FC 1-1 AC Elites AC Elites 3-0 Coloccini FC This was a very tough double for Coloccini but they fought for a hard earned point in their first game. They went for a defensive 5-4-1 against Elites all round 4-4-2. Coloccini went in tough against their former top tier rivals and caused two early substitutions through injuries that hampered the flow of Elites game. However the away side seemed fired up after the break and Bull swung in a corner that Freund poked in. Coloccini were lacking much possession but while Elites only led by one they were always vulnerable. Then the goal did come from a Coloccini corner as Costa rose through he crowd to head the home side back into a level position. Neither side could win it but both managers shook at the end of a testing match. In the next game Elites felt like they had a point to prove and went for a strong 3-5-2 formation while Coloccini went for 4-4-2. This time it was all the Elites as they dominated with 6 chances to 0. Huber headed in a Bull header before Freund set up two this time first for Brain and then Faketura who headed crosses in. This was a fantastic display by the Elites but they may have wanted all 6 points in this double. Leeds M.O.T 6-0 Dragooooo Dragooooo 7-1 Leeds M.O.T Erm where do you start with this one? In the first game Leeds destroyed a club that was hounded with rumours of an unhappy manager and a team that had no will to play. With 10 chances and 6 goals a 4-3-3 set up destroyed Dragooooo's 4-4-2 lineup. Townshend scored twice from a shot and header. Pispek and Largo added headed goals in the first half and just before half time Woodlands scored via a direct free kick to make it 5-0. Leeds fans were singing your getting sacked in the morning to a glum Dragooooo manager. Burchell completed the rout on 77 minutes with a close range shot. However back at Dragooooo's ground the home side were possessed! The press had written the team off as an embarrassment but sporting a 3-5-2 formation against Leeds playing 4-3-3 again they dominated the second game, Strindlov set up four goals, Hottges scored two and set up two, while Frapper and Forsyth both got two goals themselves. A guided shot by Wielink counts for the other goal, only Townshend had anything to say as Leeds were utterly routed by a angry Dragooooo team who stormed over to the home fans with their manager right after the match. What an incredible double! Winston Gardens 3-5 DuDs Baggies DuDs Baggies 5-0 Winston Gardens Winston desperately needed a win from this double and started off well in the first game at home as they hit back after going behind from Izon. Both teams set up with 3-5-2 and Winston scored via two Zankho Benmouih link ups either side of half time to make it 2-1. Benmouih then grabbed his hat trick via a header to make it 3-1. Then the fightback began within 4 minutes Shearer and Izon had scored. Dhall hit in a direct curling free kick before in form Shearer poked in a close range shot to make it 5-3 to Baggies in an amazing back and forth game, what let Winston down in this game was their defence everywhere else they were equal or better than the Baggies. Unfortunately for Winston the return game was a different story, Baggies stayed with a 3-5-2 set up while Winston tried to balance things out with 4-4-2. This just allowed Baggies to dominate the game with their attacking prowess, Shearer headed in twice on the 7th and 11th minute, Dhall then curled in another freekick, while a Chan header and Nixon breakaway finished this very 1 sided contest. Baggies are storming into the mid part of the season with a lot of momentum while Winston desperately need some wins now. Most Important Results: Winston Gardens 3-5 DuDs Baggies DuDs Baggies 5-0 Winston Gardens Of all the teams it was the Baggies who really stepped it up a gear this double to get a great 6 points against a former top league rival and step up their claim for promotion with some wonderful football. Stylish Team: DuDs Baggies This is a controversial one, Dragoooo and Leeds were more stylish on their day but Baggies over two games scored 10 goals and produced some fantastic displays against a very good opponent. Player of the round: PÄR-OLA STRINDLÖV, Dragooooo The young midfielder did more in one game than most did in two, with four assists he was inspirational but it was also his attitude that earns him this award after he came back and played with such heart after such an awful week for his side.
