  1. Elden Ring (25th February 2022)

Cant wait but no major rush here as I am overwhelmed with so many games right now. Destiny, Horizon, Gran Turismo, backlog etc. What a crazy February/March.
  2. I finished the story quicker due to Destiny Witch Queen's release. Progreession focus is necessary for many weapons, abiltiies and: This game had some great Human/Earth themes and serious technology discussion (Turing test, AI ethics etc.) despite having animal and dinosaur robots! Looks like there is some continuation after the story too! Absolutely loved the game and one of my all time favourites. Well done to the team at Guerilla!
  3. Might be due to the weather yesterday. Yeah blown away here. Keep going, There is so much more to do this time round. So many great characters and locations. I feel open world RPG could also fit this game's description. IMO dont waste too much time in the first open area. Get to the Forbidden West! Nothing wrong with the first open area but its like a small taster compared to later. You have plenty of back and forth travel anyway.
  4. Really enjoying it. Have to say that was a very weak and slow start. The linear part was torture for me. Felt nothing like where we left the last game. Luckily once the game goes open world it just accelerates! The first actual Forbidden West area (several hours later) is really special. It's firing on all cylinders right now. Cant wait to back in.
  5. This is probably good as it will get for a hybrid game like this. Interesting reviewers are calling it an open world game. I've platinumed it and always thought of it as an Action RPG first. Should point a ton of reviews are freely spoiling really major locations and story points.
  6. Amazing for a new IP. The first game was truly special and has aged really well. Must have on PS4/5/PC
  7. Gran Turismo 7 (4th March 2022)

Cant wait. Way overdue for a numbered GT. I assume this is the sort of independence Bungie will have Can see car tickets are back. Keen to see how much Online RPG the game is now after GT5/6, which had early elements of many online games now.
  8. The first game is still insane looking. Looks nicer than the PS5 version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. I loved the locations, characters, story, music everything. Will be fun to see where everyone ended up from the first game. Some characters already shown in trailers.
  9. Agreed. Sorry was thinking more value wise as a content maker/seller in an entertainment industry. It's ultimately about games and they have the highest value portfolio by far. EA, Sony etc. dont come close.
  10. Interesting there is so much focus on exclusives (Not a big deal in the larger scheme of things) rather than how much control/power MS gain in the industry. This makes them by 'far' the biggest game publisher/developer. A size we havent had before and they can still buy more, never mind the guaranteed growth they now have. We have anti-competition and anti-trust experts asking: What exactly constitutes a no for MS?
  11. Fortnite

By Epic FPS with fort building. The aesthetic reminds me of Overwatch. Wont require high specs for PC and Mac.
  12. Dragon Quest XI

Dragon Quest XI announced for PS4 and 3DS. Dragon Quest X also coming to PS4. http://www.dragonquest.jp/news/detail/1408/ Ni No Kuni style dev process: Orca working on PS4 version. 3DS version being made by Toy Logic who made Kid Icarus. PS4 game will use Unreal Engine 4. Looks nice going by the footage. Its a cartoon look like Dragon Quest Heroes but with open world etc.
  13. Final Fantasy XIV

Website: 720p trailer: http://dl.square-enix.co.jp/ffxiv/movie/e3_trailer.wmv Announced as PS3 exclusive. Subscription or free is not decided just yet.
  14. Overwatch

http://eu.battle.net/overwatch/en/ The newest game by Blizzard. Super Hero FPS. Its getting an incredible amount of word of mouth acclaim in the closed beta stage which has been running for a while. Its also doing well on twitch given its a very exclusive beta right now. The game originates from Blizzard's cancelled FPS MMO project previously known as Titan. Overwatch is essentially the PVP portion of the game. PVE content is a possiblity in the long term. All new maps and heroes will be FREE interms of dlc. Out in May with an open beta soon. Obligatory Blizzard CG stuff Cinematic Trailer: Short no.1 Short no.2 More shorts on the way! Release date/gameplay trailer:
  15. Perhaps the biggest controversy since the whole Xbox mess at the start of the generation. Several governments now recognise loot boxes as predatory. What made the difference was Battlefront 2 and it’s association with Star Wars. EA’s pathetic PR response so far has been a disaster with them not doing enough at a snails pace. Not to mention a number of other games using loot boxes this end of year prior to Battlefront’s release. This is not new as mobile phones have also been subject to the same issues. But inviting governments to look into the bad practices of the industry isn’t such a bad idea anymore. Let’s be honest is anyone ever going to get close to unlocking everything in Overwatch(poster child)? With the slow trickle of content I don’t think it’s been a success at all there. Let’s also not let other companies off the hook.
  16. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

Got mine launch day through a John Lewis preorder. My impressions are positive all round. Much stronger launch than the PS4. Loving the speed of everything. The UI is excellent so far. Getting used to the newness and testing stuff out. Some stuff like HDR auto on/off and media playback need work but its working well. UHD disks do not play in HDR yet but video quality is looking like it will rival dedicated players. External storage works absolutely fine and I am using the ethernet connection in my case. No issues noted. Its like a PS4 Pro+ with PS4 games. Loading is the same as PS4 Pro with a SSD. You have access to some PS5 upgrades/versions with some games. Everything PS4 works! I do have some buzz noise at times which I assume is coil whine. System is quiet though. No crashes here.

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-11-06-playstation-5-critical-consensus Excellent reviews/impressions for the PS5. Still I am awaiting afew more game reviews and impressions from the launch lineup. Didnt realise, but looks like Microsoft released their new consoles with zero ground up next gen games. That inbuilt WD SSD is also way below the 'spec' they were touting.

Cant wait. Would be a great way to end this year! With Covid we need stuff to keep ourselves sane.

It’s basically just OLED v LCD (LED, QLED, QCRAP, LCRAP etc.) If you are after best picture it’s one thing. Gaming features are another. Gaming oriented tv like the LG OLED focus on the lowest lag and 4K 120hz (if a game comes along). You still have to handle burn in. But for pure gaming and lag it’s probably the top choice. Best picture are like the HZ2000 Panasonic. You don’t have to set/calibrate anything picture settings wise. More resistant to burn in due to to stronger cooling. Best in class HDR and better motion than everyone minus Sony OLED. Price is higher though. Samsung’s QLED are mostly not great (overlap with OLED prices) and they have their own OLED coming called QDOLED. So they don’t care I guess. But they have their place as they are much brighter than OLED. So great for sunny rooms etc. Won’t burn in. Have backlit and zonal control for deeper blacks etc like the Sony below. These tv are slowly going the way of the dodo. Sony have tv like XH90 and XH95 which are unique. Essentially priced under their OLED range. XH95 is picture accurate out of the box and XH90 is gaming and Center viewing focused. XH95 gets very bright and has great angles. Accuracy is highly praised vs Samsung. Motion and processing are best in class. You can get these sets in big sizes easily and cheaply somewhat. Like Samsung these sets cost too much to make vs OLED.

Games will come on Playstaion. That moment will vary for each person but it’s looking good. For me it’s more about the new console experience on launch day. Sony are bringing good stuff to the table. No big mistakes like their competition.

Nothing can beat the AI HDR nonsense for silliness. No doubt AI is the new Cloud now.
