Charlie Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Computer megastore PC World has announced, in advance, what it thinks will be 10 of the top selling consumer technology products this Christmas. In a drive to push some of the latest digital technology in time for the lucrative festive season, leading retail chain PC World has announced a list of products which will spearhead its Christmas campaign. The ‘top ten’ list includes established sure-hitters such as the iPod and iPod Nano, and also includes digital photo frames, media centre PCs and Satellite navigation devices. The list highlights a strong emphasis on the Nintendo Wii, placing the next generation console at number one, while it also includes the Belkin Tunecast II FM Stereo transmitter – the use of which was only recently made legal in the UK. The list in full: 1. Nintendo Wii, available from December 8th for £179.99 2. Phillips LX1000 PC, available now for £999.99 3. Momento Photo Frame, available in November for £299.99 4. Belkin Tunecast II FM Stereo Transmitter, available now for £29.99 5. Pink Advent 7105p Laptop, available from October 6th for £499.99 6. Logik Internet Radio, available now for £99.99 7. HP Photosmart A717, available mid-October for £199.99 http://www.pcretailmag.com/newsitem.php?id=24502 ---- Very good news there.
Nintendork Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Internet Radios and Photo frames are ridiculously expensive.. I don't think anyone will pay for them. Especially that much. iPod, Wii, 360 and DAB radios will be big sellers I'd say. Plus the usual mobile phones, digital cameras, HD TVs and laptops I suppose.. but these are too general purchase to be considered for such a list. There's nothing iconic there. There is an aura of propaganda here I think.. people are going to see it and think.. well this must be a poll of lots of people, so these products must be good. In fact it's probably a case of.. PC world has lots of stock of these and wants rid of them. Lets market it as a must have and get rid of it.
Phube Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 But we all know, according to Dilli Gee, that XBox 360 with it's price cut will sell more than the Deal or No Deal Board game this year!!!!
Charlie Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 Going through that list, the only ones I can see selling very well are: 1. Nintendo Wii - Because its no. 1 on the list 4. Belkin Tunecast II FM Stereo Transmitter - They're legal after Jan 1st? and many people don't have a way to play their iPod in their car 5. Pink Advent 7105p Laptop - Its a laptop, and its pink. What more could girls want? All pink electronics sell well 8. iPod and iPod Nano - speaks for itself really
Nintendork Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I really think the shuffle is gonna be a huge revival. It reached saturation shortly after launching.. and sales never really picked up. New metal slim design, better sound and build quality apparently (already on top of excellent reviews) Those transmitters are hilarious.. we used to bomb around playing Trivium on all frequencies (not emergency ones though) and people's Radio would cut out. Hilarious responses. The retail associaion released it's top 12 toys and the Wii didn't make it.. because it's a gadget really. Tickle me Elmo is apparently this year's winner.. along with the Cyber Men from Doctor What
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 It is a possibility. Not much more than that.
Sooj Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I wonder if Sony had still had plans to ship the PS3 in europe by november would the Wii still be number 1? Probably as unit wise the Wii would out supply the Ps3 easly.
