kcl91 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Heya Guys, How do I found out my MAC address? I have a Windows XP - Media Center Edition PC with Service Pack 2. Help! Thanx in Advance, Kcl91
Charlie Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Hey. Start / Run / cmd Type in ipconfig and you'll get a load of details there, it should be there somewhere.
Bogbas Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Note that the mac address is something that every device that has a network interface has. For example if you have wireless connection adapter and a regular network card, they both have different mac address. And what moria said is generally correct but you need to put in "/all" after the ipconfig. Without the quotes of course. Ipconfig by itself only shows the ip address.
RoadKill Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Yeah, the above advice is basically correct. Use ipconfig. Start > Run > cmd ipconfig /all Under there will be different sections headed shit like "Local Area Connection" and some bullshit. Look for "Physical address" under the adapter section you're interested in. That's the MAC. It will look like 02-00-54-55-4E-01 or something. Sometimes some routers or something will need you to use colon instead of hyphen.
