Cheapshot Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 My 16x ATAPI DVD drive makes these nasty clicking sounds when trying to load discs and it can load hardly anything. It never used to do this - is there a way to fix this??
Smiffy Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Have you installed any games recently? Namely ones with copy protection known as starforce, that stopped my drives from reading a while ago, then explorer would crash after a few attempts.

Bogbas Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 My cheap LG which is 3 years old does this with the movie's dvd. Though my DVD burner reads it fine. Guess it's just getting old.
Konfucius Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Maybe there's dust on the lense. My DVD player wouldn't load most of the movies, after I used a cleaner disc it worked a bit better, still not perfect - I guess it's because it's a Sony.
