Its about 3 backpackers who travelling through Aus stop at Wolf Creek, a site where a meteor had hit pretty much in the middle of nowhere and a sort of twilight zone where time stands still and their car engin wont start. Unable to do anything about it late in the day they are forced to wait for help, and so this Australian man appears, nice as pie, genuinely friendly and seeming genuinely helpful, despite them feeling a little weird about him, he is a stranger after all, but he wins them and even you over as a nice helpful guy. You wish. After they agree to his help to be towed to his camp, it all goes off. It takes a while to get going but its clear this was an act from the director to make the viewer grow attached to the travellers, and it works. Theyre great, young guys just having a good time and you really dont want anything to happen to them because its easy to relate to them. The scariest thing about this film, it could well happen, you see yourself falling for the same tricks they did and as your watching it you agree with their decisions, for the most part, till the madness happens and you're shouting 'what the fuck are you doing that for!' but hey. Never watching this again, but gotta hand it to them, its a scary ass film and im not going backpacking for a looong time. Owen Posted January 18, 2006 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Yes, rented it yesterday. In my opinion, the film went too far in places and what didn't help was it was 100% realistic.
