KingOfHyrule Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Here's a question for the DVD and HD experts - I have a HDRPTV and I'd like to use the high definition output to its full potential; if I buy a DVD player that upscales 480i content to 720p/1080i/1080p, will I be getting true HD output to the Tv, and will it look like it should?
reaper673 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 In any sort of conversion, some quality will be lost. That said, it won't be too much so you will get a better picture than a standard 480i, but not quite what a native output would get you. Close, but not quite.
Lammie Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 It wont be truly HD because the DVD itself doesn't carry enough data to output a full HD resolution. Hence the reason behind the development of HD DVD.
