flameboy Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 We have incoming, ladies and gentleman. Possibly. EA has filed two trademarks for "Desert Strike", in what could be an indication that the venerated MegaDrive-era helicopter series is due a reboot. As noticed by GameInformer, the trademarks were filed last week, on 25th November. They apply to "downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices" and "entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game; provision of information relating to electronic computer games provided via the Internet". The original Strike games see you taking command of a chopper in top-down view, and exploring large maps for missions, power-ups and targets. I recall playing Jungle Strike and dying constantly. There's also Future Cop: LAPD, a spiritual successor of sorts in which you control a bipedal transforming mech. In what could be related news, DICE says there are over 15 EA games in the works that run on the Frostbite engine, apparently including a number of unannounced titles. Rev up those hype-motors. http://www.oxm.co.uk/67493/ea-files-desert-strike-trademarks-classic-helicopter-series-to-return/ I used to love the Desert Strike series and to a lesser extent Jungle Strike (even though in theory it was a better game with different planes/helicopters). Remember this was how I learnt a lot about the Middle East as I asked my Dad about it as a result of playing the game.
S.C.G Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Hell yes! I would buy Desert Strike as a downloadable title instantly though it would be nice if the visuals were spruced up a bit as well, just so long as it's done in the right way. Personally I have many happy memories of playing the 'strike' series during the nineties.
