MoogleViper Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 So the Anthony Nolan charity is a charity that matches donors with matches for blood cancers such as leukaemia etc. You could save somebody's life merely by donating marrow if you're matched. They're currently running a GET10 campaign, encouraging current donors to sign up 10 men aged 18-30, as these make up only 12% of their donors. So here I am imploring you to sign up. You'll be sent a tub to provide a spit sample, and if matched you could save somebody's life just by donating some marrow. A few days discomfort for you but a whole life saced for somebody else. I don't know about you but that's a no brainer to me. So go on and sign up and (potentially) save somebody's life. Wouldn't you want somebody to do the same if it was you? They're looking for men 18-30 because that's their lowest section of donors, but other people are still encouraged to join and help make a difference. Have a look here: http://www.anthonynolan.org/spit Thank you.
Diageo Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Does this have the same restrictions as giving blood? Also it's probably UK only.
MoogleViper Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Not sure if ti's exactly the same, but yes it does have similar restrictions. And yes I think it is UK only. Although I'm sure there'll be a marrow donor register in Ireland.
Diageo Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Well if it has the same restrictions then I can't anyway.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Am I the only one stunned by the irony of this thread?
MoogleViper Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Am I the only one stunned by the irony of this thread? I don't get it. Please explain.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I don't get it. Please explain. I just remembered your lash-out at chair for posting a petition to save a lesbian's life.
