Portlett Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Hey guys, I recently came back from travelling and upon trying to start my pc up I hit a stumbling block......it wouldnt turn on at all. Now ive tried the most obvious solution, i.e. check the kettle leads etc but still no luck. It was working when I left and no one else would have been using it, well at least I dont think so. Do you think I would need to buy a new power supply? Any help here would be most appreciated, cheers.
Shorty Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Absolutely no power whatsoever? Hm, you've probably checked the obvious things but... Check that other things work in that plug socket. Check the little on-off switch on the back of the tower. Try using another cable in case it's the fuse in the plug. Has the computer been without use for a long time?
Portlett Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 yeh ive tried all those things and yes it hasnt been used for the best part of a year.
Portlett Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 yeh i didnt disconnect it but was probably turned off at the wall.
Shorty Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Damp or dust may have gotten to it - a new PSU may be the only way to go.
Portlett Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 when I plug the psu into the pc a light does show up but the power still doesnt turn on even after I gave it a good dust off.....anyways ive decided to buy a new psu and see if that does the trick.
Portlett Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Cheers for the help guys, it was the psu so I now have it back working.
