Kirkatronics Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 My friend wants to make text which resembles this. I would be grateful if someone could send me a tutorial to get this or similar effects, or if they would actually make a PSD for me.
Shorty Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Only gave it 5 mins but.... Something like this? If that's what you're talking about trying to recreate, I'll explain how I did it (not hard).

Shorty Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 OK first thing I did was browse the "eroded" category of http://www.dafont.com The font you want is called "Distro", sorry but I can't remember which version of it I used, just install and try them all. Type out your words in blue then duplicate the layer. Rasterise the first one then duplicate it again. You should now have 3 versions of the same layer, 2 rasterised and one still text. Hide the text one for now. Use filter > blur > motion blur on the rasterised layers, one at 0 degress and one at 90 degrees. Merge these two layers and lower opacity to your preference. Show the text layer again, move it to the top. Make it white. Rasterise and apply blur > gaussian blur to the white text. Just a little. Optional: in between the text layer and the blue blurred layer, apply a white (opaque) -> white (transparent) gradient with a mask of the blue layer - then set to overlay/soft light. I do still have the psd but not with me.
