No idea what this series is.

EDIT: Is it a fighting game, or am I thinking of something else?

The fighting games were spin-offs. The games are samurai war game.

The series is about the Sengoku Period during which Japan was split into many minor states battling over power and land.

Capcom says vague stuff in press release:

Today, there was a certain report about Capcom in certain media.

We will make a necessary public announcement about product information when deemed appropriate.

I don't think that's really helpful in describing the game.

And ir's Japanese name is Sengoku Basara

Think of it as a crazier version of Dynasty Warriors if you have ever played that. Basically 1 guy (you) versus a ridiculous amount of enemies who are woefully weak in comparison, but are lead by an officer who can vary in strength depending on their importance of the plot for that level....if that makes sense. Oh and it's very crazy. the first one on the PS2 had a massive robot in it, yet it was set in the feudal Japan era.

Sooo a typical Japanese game :heh:

I am happy to finally see the Wii get more support from Capcom, perhaps thanks to MH3 xD

Details:

Players can expect lots of new generals, director Makoto Yamamoto told the magazine. Additionally, the game will feature the highest volume of real time cut scenes yet seen by the series. These cut scenes were created based off storyboards produced by an anime company.

There will a few major changes to the game. Kobayasahi said to expect a stronger action feel to the game, as players can now set more than three skills for each character, whereas past titles have allowed for just two. Yamamoto explained that the game will better exploit the personal traits of the various characters.

Famitsu socred a good number of screenshots of the new game. These seem to be from the PS3 version. But Kobayashi explained that Capcom is really pushing hard with the Wii version. The developers expect the quality to be extremely high compared to other Wii games.
