Tellyn Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 In news that can only be described as "Cracking!", Telltale Games have confirmed that they will be taking on the loveable British duo in a new franchise. Telltale Games are still a relatively new development studio, but have already made waves in the industry with their recognisable and rather brilliant IPs such as Sam & Max, Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People and CSI. They've recently been teasing a mystery new franchise to be revealed at the 2008 San Francisco Comic Con, and we now know exactly what they've been up to recently. The new franchise is Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, starring the very British man and dog duo with a passion for wacky and wonderful gadgets. The game will be presented in the Academy Award winning clay style and features physical and situation based comedy. It is expected to be presented in episodic installments, as with Sam & Max and Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People. A full announcement will follow on Monday, and no platforms have been announced as of yet, so we can hold out hope for a Wii/WiiWare release (and an appearance from the chillingly homicidal penguin, Feathers McGraw). Click here to read our interview with Telltale Games for more on Sam & Max and SBCG4AP on the Wii. http://www.n-europe.com/news.php?nid=12107 100% certainty of this coming to the Wii, but platforms haven't been fully confirmed yet. They're licensed Wii/WiiWare and 360 developers, and have expressed interest in bringing further titles to the Wii, XBLA and PSN. It's awesome news regardless since Telltale are one of the best third-parties out there, and they should be able to do a 'cracking' job with W&G.
Retro_Link Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures will be in episodic format, like Telltale's other projects, and will be available to PC users to begin with. The game features Aardman's creations in a world of exploration and invention-building. Teaser Trailer and Press Release below. Tellyn Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 Sam & Max isn't on WiiWare, it's Strong Bad. Sam & Max was too big to put on WiiWare, but since there will be more physical humour and not as much dialogue in this one, WiiWare is more likely for W&G than Sam & Max - I reckon it'll be a retail collection though. A lot more info: The incredible inventor and his dapper dog are returning in a new series of episodic games from Telltale. Following up on our original report last week of Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, developers Telltale have now released new details on the new episodic collaboration with Aardman - but unfortunately we're still left without platform details. The title will combine the rich and imaginative storytelling the quirky inventor and his faithful canine sidekick are known for with the critically-acclaimed writing, fun gameplay, and unique TV-style format Telltale has pioneered. Assuming the roles of both Wallace and Gromit, players will spend each episode exploring a vivid world, assembling intricate contraptions, and getting the duo out of the sticky situations they frequently find themselves in. The gameplay will largely revolve around problem-solving, puzzles and physical humour (since, unlike the talkative Sam & Max and the inhabitants of the Homestar Runner universe, most characters in Wallace & Gromit don't talk). Says Telltale: "Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures extends our vision for delivering new kinds of entertainment to everyone who enjoys a good story. Wallace & Gromit has a long history of entertaining people of all ages, and the world Aardman has created is rich with humour and storytelling possibilities. We look forward to reintroducing it to long-time fans in the episodic format that Telltale has been innovating." If Feathers McGraw isn't featured, then we'll unleash the Kraken. From the screenshot file names, we can deduce that PC Dibbins and Edwina are the names of two new in-game characters, and one of the scenarios will feature a large rabble of townsfolk in the dynamic duo's basement. Cracking stuff, Gromit! We'll be keeping an eye on this one. Click here to read Telltale's FAQ for the game. Platforms for the game haven't been decided on yet, but given Telltale's recent Wii lovin' with the arrival of CSI, Sam & Max and SBCG4AP, we wouldn't rule out a Wii compilation of the new season of Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures... http://www.n-europe.com/news.php?nid=12118 Click here for more screens.
