Eddage Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Hi all, On Friday I installed a new DVD RW drive into my bosses computer, as the old one had stopped working. Sadly the new one isn't quite right either! It will recognise that a CD/DVD is inserted, even load the song names in iTunes/WMP, however it doesn't seem able to access the files. It just skips the songs in iTunes and comes back with an error message (along the lines of "Windows Media Player encountered a problem and cannot open the file") in WMP. When I inserted a disc with some photos on, it will show there is a sub folder on the disc, but when you open that it wont show any of the photos. I tested the drive out in the office computer and it worked perfectly there, so I don't think it's the drive itself, anybody have anything like this happen to them and so know of a way to fix it? Cheers in advance ya'll.
Konfucius Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Wild guess: Firmware or Driver problem. Maybe there are still some traces of the previous drive left on the OS.
Eddage Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 I've had a look and the firmware and drivers are all up to date! Anybody else got any ideas?
