The Lillster Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I've just been on a game buying binge and brought Dragon Quest 8 and Shadow of the Colosus. I have hardly any knowledge on both these games, but I suppose that is a good thing. I've played both games for about 30 mins. The first game I tryed out was SoTC. I have no idea what im doing but i've heard really good things about it. Some advice would be appreciated. I've also heard good things about DQ8 as well, care to explain why this game is so great (without spoilers) if possible.

DQ8 is great, you can see just how much love has been put into the making of the game! Graphics are amazing for the PS2, theres a lovely big open world that has quite a few things to do in it and the game has a fairly decent storyline lifted up by some great voice-acting and a fantastic musical score! The game is quite old-school though, and you have to level up ALOT to keep up with some of the bosses. SotC.........just an amazing game really, everyone I talk to seems to love it. Not going to go into detail as you have to experience it for yourself, but the first time you ever see a colossi........I couldn't believe it, can't really put my finger on it as there was something magical about this game! Can't wait to see how Ico 3 turns out, probably won't see it till next year though
Hellfire Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 SotC is my fave PS2 game, but DQ8 is fucking awesome, if you love RPGs. Hard choice.

Yeh, I do like RPG's but only in small doses. What I mean is, I can't play one RPG for hours on end, then jump into another RPG. I like to spend my time with one RPG then a few months down the line start a new one. My last RPG was Tales of Symphonia which everyone knows is awesome. Hopefully DQ8 is just as epic. As for SoTC I havn't spent much time with it yet.
mario_jr Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 SoTC has controls that are hard to get used to, but after the first Colossus you should have them mastered. And yes the game is fucking EPIC!!

I spent hours just in the casino section alone. Its worth noting that the battles take slightly longer in DQ, being old-school turn based, which may or may not be your cup of tea
