DCK Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Integrated graphics cards suck. I would chuck out some money for a Radeon HD 2600 if I were you, they load A LOT of movie decompression off the CPU. Basically means that any CPU and memory > 1 GB will do if you get one of those. You might want to wait for the new Intel Celerons coming out in January if you have the time. They are cheap, powerful enough and very quiet, supposedly.
tapedeck Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 Looking at this item yet he wants £400. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120195300864&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D120195300864%26fvi%3D1
McPhee Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 It ain't too bad for £350. I worked out what it cost him and im getting around £280, £70 is pretty reasonable as a build charge but £120 is not! If he wants £400 then tell him to put an ATi HD2400 in there, it'd make it a lot better where HD movie playback is concerned. If you wanted games instead then ask him to add in an ATi x1950 Pro or NVidia 7600GT (try asking for the ATi first, it's better for games, movies and more expensive).
tapedeck Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 Thanks McPhee, your input is greatly appreciated. I will message the seller now. Will post how I get on... EDIT: Mind you, there is another similar spec one on there and it's got this card in it: 1 x ATI Radeon Gecube HD2600XT 256mb GDDR3 Graphic Card May put a £350 offer in for that if that's a better card.
