kcl91 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 My computer is driving me crazy, and i want to completely redo it. I dont have a startup disc because my packard bell just came in the box with everything pre installed. How can i completely re-install XP? Thanx, kcl91
Sanchez Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Your PC should have come with a copy of XP that you can reinstall with. Set your CD drive to boot in the BIOS. Insert XP, format the hard drive with the setup and follow instructions.
Guest Jordan Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 If its anything like my packard bell laptop, the back up is on an invisable partition, so you'de have to go into computer management and assign it a drive letter then boot off it.
Shorty Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 borrow someone else's xp CD and use your own product key off the sticker on your pc....
McPhee Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Or failing that, "acquire" a CD from the usual sources and then use you're CD key. Kind of dubious on the legality front though
Shorty Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 True but to be fair, when you buy an OS or any software, what you're paying for is the license, not the DVD. It's not like it really costs $600 to produce a disk of Photoshop in a box with a manual, for example. If your key is legit you're not really doing any harm...
