Razz Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Ok, so I brought a Dell inspiron 531 with built in wireless card, and it came today. We already had sky wireless broadband so i set up and everything and had some trouble connecting, but when i finally did, its unbearably slow at 1.67kb/sec! My sisters is fine at 8mbs. I really dont know what is wrong and would appreciate it greatly if someone could shed some light on my problem. Thanks

Thanks Hmmm... try reinstalling your wireless drivers or update them from the Dell site.
Charlie Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 How far away are you from the router? Going through a lot of thick walls?
Razz Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 No, its in the same room about 2 metres away. Hmmm... try reinstalling your wireless drivers or update them from the Dell site. Ok, the driver is up to date, but if uninstall, how do i go about reinstalling? As in will it still be in device manager after the uninstall?
McPhee Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Try connecting to the router via and ethernet cable, that will tell you if it's a wireless problem or a network problem
Razz Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Thanks McPhee, I did what you said and its obviously the wireless card as through the cable it's working fine. I want to reinstall the card, but don't want to mess it up. Anyone want to give me a quick rundown of what to do?
Choze Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Sounds like signal strnegth quality issue. Change router channels or mess about with wireless. WiFi is abit messy unfortunately.
