Maiky-NiSuTe Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 today i got a new mail from Nintendo about the new wrist straps! it seams they have improved them even more! or is this nothing more than a reminder? Hello, We hope you are enjoying your Wii console. We wanted to make you aware that Nintendo has made a new version of the Wii Remote wrist strap available to replace the original one used in early product shipments. Please visit http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/strapreplace.jsp to determine if you need to replace your wrist strap. You will be able to view pictures showing the difference between the original and new version of the strap at this site. When requesting the new wrist strap, you will need to have the serial number of your Wii available. The serial number starts with LU and is found on the Wii console below the barcode. When using the Wii system, please review the following safety information to ensure an enjoyable and safe play experience. Wear the wrist strap when using the Wii Remote. Make sure all players use the wrist strap and that the strap lock is correctly tightened. When sharing the Wii Remote between multiple players, make sure each person using the remote properly uses the wrist strap. Wearing the wrist strap will prevent you from accidentally dropping or throwing the remote during game play which could damage the remote or surrounding objects, or cause injury to other people. Do not let go of the remote during game play. For example, in a game like Wii Sports bowling, the ball is thrown by simply releasing the B Button on the remote, not by letting go of the remote! Hold the remote securely and avoid excessive motion during game play. If your hands become moist, stop and dry your hands. Excessive motion may cause you to let go of the remote and may break the wrist strap. Allow adequate room around you during game play. Stay at least three (3) feet away from the television. Make sure objects and other people are out of your range of movement or arm motion to prevent damage or injury. For more information on Wii safety, please visit http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wiisafety.jsp Thanks and we hope you are enjoying your new Wii console! Nintendo of America Inc.
Shorty Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Sounds like it's just a late notice for the replacement that already went out, since it says "to replace the original one used in early product shipments"....
Tellyn Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 'Strap lock' implies that it's the one with the lockable click that N-E reported on a couple of weeks ago.
That Guy Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 It does make me laugh, the world we live in. People are so stupid that things like this are needed. I've never once used the wrist strap and I've never even dropped the remote. It's like bags of nuts having 'may contain nuts' on them. It's just there for the idiots.

Have you never played the Wii with any friends? I don't know about your mates but none of mine like the idea of paying for a new HDTV or Wii-mote if they break mine. Also I don't trust my friends as much as I trust myself. I also assume you've never played Wii Sports' baseball while drunk (you're missing out). Rather than your 'nuts' analogy, it's more like wearing a seatbelt. Only idiots think they don't need them til they go face first through a windscreen.

At launch, Jimjebus on this forum was playing on my Wii and managed to hit a hanging lamp with the Wiimote. Never mind his near-broken hand, I wrenched it from him to check for signs of damage. By god, everyone who plays my Wii is forced to wear that strap.

You know you're not going to do something stupid like let go of the remote, yet you don't trust someone else to, hence the strap. I've played plenty of Wii Sports and know that you'd have to be pretty daft to throw the thing that hard that it flies out of you're hand. Feel free to throw that seatbelt analogy in my face though if it happens to me though
Japjer Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I guess you haven't played warioware then either. There's a microgame that has you drop the remote :p
