In the game players will compete in various events that take place at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games using a cast from both the Mario and Sonic worlds. Confirmed characters are Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi and Tails, though I'm sure more will be in the game as well. And yes, there will be a 100m sprint that pits Mario against Sonic. Other sports mentioned in the release are table tennis and swimming.
