I much enjoyed playing Etrian Odyssey V, but for personal reasons, the review was delayed.  I've finished it now, and here it is:

Thanks, as ever, to the stalwart @S.C.G for the graphic.

Thought it was worth putting this in here too.

  2. This has been mentioned in the Nintendo Direct Mini thread but thought it was worth a post here too.

So we're getting two pieces of DLC for Pokken DX.

    Wave 1 – available January 31st

        New Battle Pokémon: Aegislash
New Support Pokémon set: Mega Rayquaza/Mimikyu
        New items for your avatar

    Wave 2 – available March 23rd

        New Battle Pokémon: Blastoise
        New Support Pokémon set: Mew/Celebi

While that sounds pretty cool, this is all you're getting for £13.50.  Or to put it another way for 25% of the cost of the game on the eShop you can get two more characters and two more support sets.  DLC is never good value but this feels particularly stingy when put next to the other season passes available.

  3. Just a reminder that you will not be able to buy Wii Points past Monday 26th March 2018.

These are the games I'm currently looking to buy:

    • Castlevania Rondo of Blood
    • Bomberman Blast
    • Crystal Defenders R1
    • Crystal Defenders R2
    • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord (+ it's DLC)
    • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (+ it's DLC)
    • Contra ReBirth
    • Gradius ReBirth
    • Pokemon Rumble

I already own some games on there but I think the above are the remaining exclusives that are worth me picking up.

Anybody else looking to purchase Wii Shop games before it's too late?

  4. Looks like I'm buying Hyrule Warriors again.

Very impressed by the H1 line up.  I didn't think they'd be able to keep up the momentum from the end of last year but it looks like they are.

Mario Tennis with a story mode and it's still by Camelot.  I hope they go the Mario Golf Advance Tour route but I doubt it.

Doesn't seem to have everything, was hoping to get some images from my Japanese account but it doesn't have them.

I'm guessing the fact there's 17TB of data (there's probably a lot more than that) to store is why they pulled the plug.

Yeah it's missing quite a few images.

I was hoping they'd have a way to upload the archives created via Nintendo so you could help complete it, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

I very rarely, almost never, have issues with tracking. Have you got too much natural light in the room? Any mirrors or anything that could interfere with the tracking? The first day I got my PSVR the screen kept dipping to black every 30 seconds or so. Took me a while to realise it was the sunbeams shining through the slats in my blinds interfering.

I've found having the room be in complete darkness helps.  I'm still trying to find the time to mount the PlayStation Camera much higher up facing down as when I've temporarily had it in that position I've had a lot more luck with it.

The symptoms it has when it's not working quite right, is that it feels like it's almost constantly swaying.  Not by much but by enough that it starts to make me feel ill.

Just in case this is putting anybody off, it's almost certainly an issue with the way I've got it setup rather than being an inherent issue.

I've read that Skyrim looks like a blurry mess.

The problem with this, Fallout and Doom is that people have the non-VR games to compare with so they're being a bit over the top about it.

The PSVR is definitely a noticeably lower res (and generally lower quality all around) but as soon as you're immersed in it, you just don't care.  On the occasions where the stars align and I can actually get the tracking to work properly, PSVR is just as enjoyable to me as my Vive.

NBA Playgrounds – Enhanced Edition (Saber Interactive Incorporated, now €9,99 / £8.99 until Sun 14th Jan, regular price €19,99 / £17.99)

Definitely interested in this but really what is the difference between what it was and this new 'Enhanced Edition'?  I've had a scout around and it seems like it's added all the post-release content from the other consoles, but there's very little details on if anything else has been tweaked.

Lets see how the companies handle it but Intel certainly have tried to throw everyone under the bus and no one wants to upset Intel.

Definitely.  I'm already miffed with Intel's marketing-esque response and that they're the last ones who seem to be doing anything to help mitigate.  And I'm very annoyed that they knew this could happen with the way they design their hardware.  But I bet they'll still push the second round of Coffee Lakes out the door over the next couple of months.

Microsoft are on top of it by being dead last in applying a patch?

If you're gonna poke holes in what I said, go for that I said Intel are working on a fix firmware side :D  They've known longer than everyone else and still done nothing leaving it up to the OS and browser makers.  Hell they've known ages and still been releasing new chips with the hardware setup which makes this never 100% fixable via software.

You can't really give Microsoft a hard time considering they've released their public patch on the day the exploit was made public, with it already going through Insiders (beta) for a while.  Apple are yet to even comment about their plans for Mac OS and Safari.  Google aren't patching Chrome until the end of the month.

  11. Very crappy that Intel has known about this for a while.  From a security point of view this is terrible and Intel deserves all the flak they're getting and going to get for it.  But at least Microsoft is on top of it with an emergency patch for their OSes and Intel are working on a firmware patch.

From a performance point of view though this isn't really going to effect us as consumers:

  12. Why does the music in this game not flow correctly?  It sorta crashes into the next piece rather than subtly changing.

I've just got onto Chapter 2.  Enjoying it so far.  Though I'm not sure if should be running about during battles.  You can't avoid attacks like that and it seems to cause you to break your attacking chain.

  13. It's going to be a massive ask for them to keep up the momentum that they've had the end of this year.  So at the minute I'm fully expecting a disappointing six months or so.

I hope that we'll see another new IP from Nintendo but I suspect Arms might have been our only one for now.  I also hope that they delve into their back catalogue in attempt to keep things fresh.  Advance Wars, Sin & Punishment, Excite, The Last Story, etc.

I think we're likely to get ports from the Wii U to boost their releases.  Bayonetta, The Wonderful 101 and Super Smash Bros.
