  1. Mighty Switch Force 2

Bit disappointed that they're doing a straight sequel to MSF, rather than doing a new "Mighty" game with the same puzzle style gameplay. That being said, MSF is good stuff so I'm looking forward to the sequel
  2. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

Switchaxe>>Sword N' Shield>>Hammer>>Great Sword>Longsword>>Lance>>>>Bowgun. At least that's my order of preference in the original Tri. That being said, I love using the Dual Swords and the Hunting horn in MHFU, so I'm really looking forward to trying them out in MH3U!
  3. 3DS Console Discussion

Exactly the same here. I was holding out till the next ND in hope that we'd get either the purple or the limited edition FEA 3DS. Walked away disappointed, so I went for the Ice White one, which was my backup choice. Glad I did, the white one is simply gorgeous
  4. 3DS Console Discussion

So I replaced my 2 year old Cosmo Black 3DS (it was a bit beaten up and worn out, so I wanted a new one) with a new Ice White 3DS the other day... To my surprise, it seems that Nintendo have improved the colour gamut and saturation of the original 3DS model's screen! The colours are noticeably richer than on my old console! While I don't have my old 3DS anymore to make a picture comparison, I compared it to some screenshots of 3DS games on my iPhone 4S and the difference is indeed noticeable. The new white 3DS compares much more favourably than my old black one did! That was a very nice surprise!
  5. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed 3DS

I've had quite a few glitches on the Wii U version. Driving through walls into blank space, cars turning invisible, cars spawning inside objects, loud static sound glitches... Yup, it's a SEGA game alright A shame really, since the game itself is actually very good. Been a long time since we last had a decent kart racer that isn't called Mario Kart.
  6. Rayman Legends

Seems that Michel Ancel may be looking to leave Ubisoft... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=515226 This wouldnt be the first time he's been prepared to leave. He supposedly was about to leave when Beyond Good and Evil 2 was cancelled and only decided to stay when Ubisoft gave him his own team to make Rayman Origins... Ohhhhh Nintendoooooo... You have a French R&D team who could use some staffing...
  7. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

The fact that it took Nintendo so long to allow people to properly use the SD card slot that came installed as standard with the damn system was criminal!
  8. He obviously regulars Bulbapedia instead
  9. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

When games are 25-50GB a pop, you'll find your HDD space gets eaten up pretty quickly!
  10. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

That won't work because the game needs to be able to load the data off the disc at the same time, you can't install the game onto HDD and read data off the disc into RAM at the same time because the disc speed bandwidth is being taken up by the game loading from disc. 27MB is a hard limit that you can't get around, unless you install the game to the HDD before you play and even then, filling 6GB of RAM would still take a long time! (average 7,200 RPM HDD is around 100MB read speed, so it would take around 61 seconds to fill 6GB of RAM - still on the lengthy side...)
  11. There's a reason for that and that's because these games are aimed at bloodthirsty American teenagers first and foremost. No other demographics exist apparently, didn't you get the memo?
  12. Castlevania: Mirror of Fate

Agreed, I actually really enjoyed the demo. The combat works well in 2D space and doesn't seem to really bog the pace of the game down too much like I had feared. My only concern remaining is the level design. I hope that the full game is much less linear and that it can keep introducing new ideas and concepts throughout to keep the game fresh. With them bigging up the game length being 20 hours plus, I get that nagging feeling that it's gonna run out of steam halfway through (I hope I'm wrong!)
  13. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

Exactly, it's going to cost a fortune here. The heat and motherboard complexity increase it brings is also very significant - expect it to be bigger and louder than the original PS3 model was... And even then, you have to wonder if the benefits are really worth it in the end. It's all well and good having 8GB of RAM, but there's one big massive bottleneck holding it back and that's the BD disc drive (which offers a max read speed of 27MB per sec). Being generous to Sony here and assuming that games have access to 6GB of that in total (with 2 GB locked off for OS use; I'd be surprised if it were that much really), it would take 3 mins and 48 seconds to fill the RAM completely from disc! - and that's ignoring seek times! You're never going to see loading times that long though, because that would just be completely absurd so unless they require mandatory installs for every game, I can't even imagine a game even really needing that much RAM at any one time (if you were working with less RAM, you'd just remove unnecessary data when you don't need it).
  14. Wii U eShop Thread

Yup me too. Seems that the Gamepad video encoder struggles a bit with the pixelation of the mode 7 track (which isn't hard to imagine why really. Very rapid pixel movement creating a sort of static effect like what you'd get on analogue TV must be hard to capture in video encoding as it's very unpredictable and requires very fine detail capture that seems to break the bandwidth budget every so often) It's a really good stress test for the Gamepad actually! Doesn't look bad really all things considered, the artifacts are only really noticeable for a brief moment or so and then disappear.
  15. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

Actually you'd be wrong! I have no idea lol :p
  16. I haven't enjoyed an FPS since Timesplitters 2 (There is Bioshock I guess, but going back and playing it again just recently made me realise that it's nowhere near as good as I remembered). Todays FPS games are boring, largely play themselves and generally all congeal into a big homogeneous dark chocolate cricket ball of mediocrity. There are a few interesting multiplayer only FPS games like Team Fortress 2 (though that one has since been ruined by F2P garbage ) and Shadowrun 360, but they still don't come close to those classic titles for me. I love the old Doom games, Quake 1-3, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Turok 1 & 2 and Timesplitters 2. Sadly nobody makes games like them any more
  17. The SEGA MEGADRIVE

I was quite lucky as a kid really. I was the Nintendo guy, and my mate was the SEGA kid so we used to just play each other's games I never did get my own Megadrive though (my first SEGA console was a Dreamcast), though I did always love those MD games like the Sonics, Ristar, Ghouls N' Ghosts, Mean Bean Machine/Puyo Pop and Moonwalker. It wasn't until the VC came out that I was really able to dive into its library and it really does have some amazing games! The Shining Force games, Pulseman, Strider, Monster World/Wonderboy, Fantasy Zone, Alien Soldier, Gunstar Heroes, Beyond Oasis, Dynamite Headdy, Shinobi 3 & Revenge... The Mega Drive truly is a treasure trove of classics and the king of 2D action games
  18. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

Supposedly Killzone is 1080p, but whether or not it's actually full native 1080p or some sort of fakey upscaling, we'll have to see... BTW, a few tidbits about the Vita remote play... http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2013/02/21/interview-shu.aspx So it's just like the existing Remote Play feature then, the only difference being that every PS4 game supports it and that developers are responsible for custom button mapping to the Vita controls. So there's no secret sauce they have to fix latency issues then and most action titles will suffer in terms of playability, but you can play games over an internet connection if you wish to. For what it's worth, the native Vita Remote Play (as featured with the GOW and Ico/SOTC collections) is much better than the PSP version. Far from perfect (and 30FPS max), but Ico and SOTC felt playable at least Granted, they're fairly slow paced games and the Remote Play function is no Wii U killer, but the PS4 Remote Play should be useful for slower paced games at least
  19. So now Miiverse has seemingly directly contributed towards two victories against game publishers. The first being Ubisoft's recent efforts to placate slighted Rayman Legends fans with the free Challenge Mode eShop download and US Ubisoft games sale and the second being Nintendo's own reaction by FINALLY offering 60hz VC games for download. Is Miiverse really as powerful as these victories would have us believe? Can it really have that kind of overpowering level of Word of Mouth marketing amongst Wii U owners (and soon to be 3DS)? I always said that it could potentially be an extremely strong force in driving word of mouth and consumer feedback, to the point where it would give niche games like Trauma Center a chance to thrive, but I never believed that Nintendo would ever cave in to our 60hz demands! Is it just a flash in the pan, or does Miiverse really have that kind of power? Discuss!
  20. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

The actual game does a great job at easing you into the game and explaining all of its various nuances. The demo is designed for people who are already familiar with the series.
  21. Very true. Why the hell would Nintendo want to not tell us that it was coming!? Makes zero sense to allow this kind of FUD to spread when they could've nipped it in the bud so easily...
  22. Wii U eShop Thread

It's the instruction manual. Each 1080p image inside it is larger than the game itself
  23. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

But it'll make the wait harder!
  24. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

Ugh! Don't want to spoil my first MH3U experience on Wii U or 3DS by playing the demo, but it's soooo tempting... MUST...RESIST...TEMPTATION!!!
  25. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

They already mentioned that they'll have a Gaikai streaming solution for retail games. The fact that you can't transfer PSN games over means that they won't be included in the streaming service however. This is a nightmare scenario really It means that we now have to rely on hackers finally breaking the PS3 encryption open if we want to see these games properly archived. If they can't manage it before the PS3 PSN service is shut down, a lot of the games and content on the PSN service may be lost to time forever; just like what happened to the original Xbox
