  1. The graphics are better. There are a huge amount of lighting effects being used in comparison to the other two and lots of nice particle effects. Find a video where Samus charges her beam cannon.

I'll do that sir! : peace: been a while since i saw a vid of it

  2. MP1 was a fantastic game, at first i didn't fancy it which is probably the reason why my mate gave me it. But once you got into it the game came close to sex! :) I think a big reason for the public not getting into Metroid Prime was because of the uber boring demo that was on the GC pods in stores, everyone was wanting to play the new GC but once they tried to play Metroid on it they just didn't grasp it at all. It was painfull to watch people not even being able to open the first gate!

MP2 was quite painfull to play, the weapons were really boring, dark and light worlds thing have been done far too much. I didn't really enjoy the game :(

MP:Hunters was fairly boring too, i never completed it. The online was ok but after a few days everyone used that annoying cloaking thing which just pissed me off to a high degree so i never played online again.

I'm looking forward to MP3, if they get the controls spot on i think it will improve the experience a lot! I was hoping the gfx would be more improved of previous primes considering Wii is more powerfull than GC but meh.

  3. I work for Argos and my store got over 40 ps3's in for launch, today we have sold a total of 0. Another store in the town center has over 30 in stock and have sold 0, for a console launch this is very weird in constrast to the Wii; as soon as we get any of them in they are sold.

I'm happy with my Wii and 360, in my opinion the psp had a higher demand as they all sold out in my store on launch day.

  4. My argos store got 2 360 core packages (zero premium) for the launch day even thou they sold out of pre-orders ages beofre launch. They are doing the same thing with the Wii launch, if a store does get any in then i'd say there is a 90% chance that they will be snapped up by staff members but who knows, you might get lucky.

Also to all those who pre-ordered from woolies. My girlfriend pre-ordered the 360 HD-DVD drive ages ago and she's not got or heard anything from them :(

  5. Today i saw the Wii with my own eyes......... i held the Wiimote

I can't believe how small they all are! They look and feel amazing i've not seen the nunchuk yet but i'm sure it will surprise me 2. Friday can't come quick enough!!!

Oh and i can confirm that UK demo pods are indeed connected via component.

  6. Most people i talk to have no clue what the Wii is actually capable of.

One lad just thought you played it with the remote and had no idea that the Wiimote sensed movement, his opinion of it was that it sounded crap but he just didn't think of the possibilites and the immersion that Wii is capable of :hmm:

Another lad just had no faith in Nintendo. He is happy playing games with a standard ps2 pad. He needs to experience how good it is ASAP!

It's hard for me to contemplate how these people have no excitment for the Wii. The only Wii pre-orders our store (Argos) have taken so far are for staff members (4 of them), and these are guaranteed launch day available consoles...... the general public and casual gamers seem to have no idea! makes me mad  Nintendo europe have some work to do.

  7. Thanks Smowza. You have sufficiently persuaded me to get mine from there. :bouncy:

And now you've both convinced me to go with Argos too

Except there was a power cut on my street at exactly at the point I clicked to complete my order. And now I don't know if I've ordered or not!! :(

    Just how unlucky is that?

Well if you've now pre-ordered from Argos then you have no worries, oh and davech if you ring customer services they can check for you if you give them your name and postcode etc.

My store has now taken 4 pre-orders for Wii, all staff btw.

  8. But don't the gamer centric organisations such as Play.com/Gameplay take your order when it ships?

And don't they offer a wider range of games? Accesories and free delivery that you know is reliable.

It seems to make sense to go with a game retailer than Argos.. but it's your money.

I don't know why I'm attacking Argos.. I love the Argos catalogue :P

    Pro's for pre-ordering at Argos

    • When placing your order it tells you if it's 'in stock' so you will definatly get one
    • Save £10 or £20 if you buy one or 2 games with it
    • Get a £10 gift card

    Con's

    • £4.95 delivery
    • Not all games are available to buy
    • Not all accesories are available to buy either
    • You have to pay when you pre-order

I got 2 games for £29.99 and £10 gift card, plus 10% staff discount so for me it was the only way to go. Plus the fact that i now have ZERO chance of not getting a Wii on launch is a pretty nice feeling :hehe:

On a side note, To anyone who has worries about not getting their console on launch day if they pre-order from Argos have a look at this http://www.argos-email.co.uk/preregister/wii/

Argos will contact you in the week prior to launch to arrange delivery of your order.

Argos will then deliver direct to you on the day of launch.

  9. I spoke to a humanoid, which immediately outweighs your 'personal experience' with Argos.

On the phone the man (named Ian) said I won't be charged until the day it ships, on top of that they said it will be shipping on the day the console launches (I asked specifically) and they said estimated delivery is 2 days.

I have no reason to make things up, there is no personal benefit to me.. I'm just ordering in store because of that. At least then I can pick it up at 9:00am on December 8th without having to worry about couriers.

Many retailers do ship stuff early.. I am aware of this seeing as or from Amazon regularly and I subscribe to EDGE. Which I recieve 1-2 days before it's release.. but what his computer said is ships December 8th.

The chances of the guy being wrong are very very high... believe me. Argos are pants when it comes to briefing staff, he will be going by a little leaflet that was sent out to all stores which says delivery will be from launch day but it's not very clear at all.

With my 360 it came at about 10 o'clock on launch day and it was done in the same way the Wii has been planned.

Oh and the money is taken when you pre-order, NOT when it ships so he's wrong on that one. Thats why i've already paid for my Wii :)

  10. I got my pre-order in at work (Argos) today. You get £10 off one game or £20 if you buy 2 games with the console (games are £39.99) and you get a £10 gift card too. If the order goes through then you are 100% guaranteed to get a console, they have added the consoles to their central stock system so once an order is placed it takes one off their stock amount. I got a 360 the exact same way and it came on launch day. I'm happy :)

    My pre-order:

    Wii with Wii sports

    Zelda

    Red steel

I plan on using my gift card towards a classic controller :)

  11. Is Gamer.tv still shown on Bravo? I haven't seen it in ages, did it move timeslots maybe?

I miss the show Violent Berlin hosted, was that Bits? i can't remember the name, i think it was Bits... either way, Violent Berlin FTW :peace::heh:

i think she was one of the hosts of 'Bad Influence'...... Bits was great thou, really miss it! :(
