  1. The evolution of this forum

    You can supply the poppers.
  2. The evolution of this forum

Any notoriety I achieved back in ye olde was probably due to my mischief in the face of the gestapo-esque attitudes displayed by a few of the moderators. As far as I can see the grip's been loosened now, and I doubt I'd have much to contribute to this forum anymore.
  3. The evolution of this forum

You know I do still come here ocassionally, don't be too hasty to consign me to the past. So that Wii looks good doesn't it?
  4. Create your own Mii!

So does anyone know how much like the finished product this is?
  5. new NGC magazine

  6. A friend and myself have recently been going through the Timesplitters series in co-operative mode, and as we approach the last level we're feeling a bit lost as to what we can play once it's done. What we're after is a game that fits the following criteria: * Can be played in co-operative mode * Is (preferably) an FPS, but we're open to others * Is reasonably challenging and will last a good few gaming seshes * Is on the GameCube Anyone know anything that fits the bill? Cheers.
  7. Suggestiones por favor

Star Fox sounds up our street, but no one seems to have a good word to say about it, is it really as bad as everyone seems to make out?
  8. Power Metal and/ or other music.

Rhapsody are my favourite Power Metal band too, for cheap laughs it has to be "The Magic Of The Wizard's Dream" featuring a disgraced Christopher Lee. My Enjoyment of Power Metal goes no further than laughing at its clichés when pissed and revelling (albeit with a tongue firmly in one cheek) in the bombastic imagery created by the fantastical timbres. Even my friends (a few of who have formed a Power Metal band) enthuse as much about the hilarity of it all as they do the nods to the classical composers (of whom they are well versed in). Last year I went to see Yngwie Malmsteen, the godfather of the genre, who was supported by a band called "Dragonland" who had a song entitled "Majesty of the Mythril Mountain". Announced in the singer's Nordic tones it had me and my mates chuckling for about half way through its duration. I'm just leaving a phase of loving the ultra-twiddly guitaring, my tastes these days heading towards rootsier rock stylings and blues/rock jams. For me these genres satiate the appetite that got me into playing the guitar in the first place much better than the baroque-esque arpeggiotron stuff I dabbled in for a while. Regardless, if you're a fan of the guitaring in Power Metal I can empathise, retrospectively at least.
  9. Post your Fav "Feel good song".

Good choices Mmhmm A bit of Stan Bush always gets a nod, Dare also comes highly recommended. I still think "Man in Motion" by John Parr (not the recent bastardisation) is top of the pile, alongside Herbert Grönemeyer's "Manner", the themes from Baywatch and Ghostbusters, Michael Macdonald's "Sweet Freedom" and Whitesnake's "Straight for the Heart".
  10. No more Wheat Crunchies or Nik Naks ?

I was relieved to discover that Frazzles, the true heir to the snack food throne, will survive, due to the fact they aren't made my Golden Wonder, but Smiths.

  13. Dude just look into his fingers!!...

Very tasty, nice arpeggios and all that, but who really cares how fast his hand his moving? To really appreciate what he's playing play the music without the video and listen to the progressions without thinking about his chops.
  14. Dream Cars (56k NEIN!)

4 wheels is 2 too many for me
  15. Has anyone got FEAR.

Or, you have a shitty PC <-
  16. Aye, the curse of being controlled by your right lobe.
  17. This is a picture of a guitar just like mine (my guitar's in the Guitar Gallery at the moment getting spruced up in time for xmas). The only major difference between mine and this is the fact I had a DiMarzio FRED installed in the bridge position, oh, and the fact that this one has a pointlessly white selector switch. Anyway, the model is a Jackson TH1-L, discontinued in 1997 and supposedly arousing the interest of Jackson collectors these days, but they can fuck off! It's my baby!

  24. Nintendo not kiddy anymore!1!one!

Just the sort of attitude a person needs to be successful in the music industry.
  25. Please help you rock/emo/metal fans!

Exactly who I was going to suggest, Jaco Pastorius and Marcus Miller, if you wanted to become a virtuoso of the bass these are the artists to check out. Also, as JohnSt suggested, the bassists of Vai/Satriani are handpicked for innovative tour-de-force playing styles, the best of the bunch being ex-Mr Big and David Lee Roth bassist Billy Sheehan.
