  1. How do you have the patience for the fishing? haha. I genuinely don't like it at all but I need to do it because my party's skill is Level 8 or 9 and the fishing is only Level 2.

I didn't have patience with it at all, I mentioned above to daft I hated it, still do although I persevered with it following the advice - I actually broke my controller with fishing, the R2 button had lost sensitivity and wouldn't fully depress, and now its screwed

Its just tedious, with hard fish you only really should briefly tap the R2 button when the controller is barely vibrating, and some of the boss fish later in the quests are awful, one breaks the line if you aren't careful (Gar) and the next one just has so much health it took 40/50min to catch it

however after that fishing is/was easy

Just up to Zegnatus keep, to the point where I can make use of Umbra again

Is this Chapter 13? because I can see why people say there is no story! only a few reports about that you can work out whats gone on (unless there are some cut scenes coming)

It really feels like you should have had some cut scenes about what was happening here whilst you were on the train or something

  2. After the initial disappointment I'm back t being mega excited. Ordered an extra pair of joy cons because I couldn't decide whether to get grey or the coloured ones... Having read more and watched far far too many youtube videos, it seems with regards to the console and games it's all mega positive - it's the prices, worrying online potential and lack of launch games and 3rd parties) that people seem to hate. Understandable. Nintendo really fucked up the messaging on this. If they came out and said they are releasing a few titles at launch and having steady releases which they'll announce at a later time, I think we'd be fine. I almost wish they said NOTHING about online until they could tell us everything. Prices... well... That is just bizarre.

Ultimately though, Zelda could be one o the best games every and looks far far superior on the switch (anyone seen the comparison videos?), snupperclips looks amazing, bomber man looks great and more and more I think if Arms has a single player campaign and far more characters than that could be fanatstic.

Even FAST sounds great, it's meant to have 30 new tracks in the game and runs at 1080p 6FPS solidly. 60 tracks in total. It's decent! Then Mario Kart, I can play at work, it sounds great!

I'm the same, i'm hyped for the console, i'm just very deflated on price and I hate to lay blame but those leaks were convincing and given how tight money is right now It seemed too good to be true

I won't pre-order but I intendto trade in somethings and get one close too it

  3. I think this is the first game of this gen that I have genuinely spent so much time on. As it stands, I've clocked in over 50 hours. I haven't played a game this long since South Park on the Xbox 360.

I've been trying to get every single side-mission, every weapon for the Armiger, every bounty, etc, before continuing the story. I think I'm Level 57 right now and I'm on the final chapter (or it feels like I am). The "stealth" chapter is weak but when it gets out of that, it's fun again. The story is decent. It's not the best but I've definitely seen worse.

I'm loving the game. I love the look of Altissia but I HATED getting to places.

I'm the same, only loooooads earlier in the game! just got to Altissia (chapter 9?) I've done all the fishing side quests, gem stone guy side quests, regalia side quests (well headlights? assuming that's the end) and I've got all bar 4 arms? hunter rank 5

    and i'm level 66

think i'm way overlevelled, but it is still loads of fun

  4. I can feel myself caving

I've got quite a few games I could trade in, my A link between worlds 3DS XL and then i'll have around £100-150

stil think its too expensive, if it had a pack in *cough* 1, 2 switch *cough*

USB hDD is great news! my ps4 hard drive (OG) can have a use and a hilarious one at that!

Good to here Skyrim is based on the PC/Special edition and shut up the scare mongering idiots, just need Fifa confirmations

and Some confirmation on the OS party chat, which seems so likely since you can buy headsets, I mean why sell them if its expecting you to use a mobile phone?

  5. Oh sweet jesus, the pack in joycon grip is not the charging grip! its just like a wiiwheel and holds them! its £30 extra for the charging grip!

THIS this is what im talking about with nintendo's fetish for unnecessary peripherals that you sort of need and thus have to give them more money for!

I can live with out it, most could, but actually including the USB C connection a tiny circuit board and the connectors to allow charging is an absolute pittance of extra components to manufacture, its hilarious in that producing two items but one with tiny electronics, probably costs nintendo more than it would to just make one with the power pass through and just pack that in! no wonder they want £30 for a glorified adaptor to charge the joycon off the tablet

fuck me nintendo, you've been toking that joint too long! Puff puff Give motherfucker! puff puff give!

  6. I don't know but the more i think about it, aside from miscommunicated online features the main issue with the Switch is the price and even then its not that bad a price - Everyone intially expected such a price with the original rumours, but then fairly believable rumours from a variety of different sources started saying £250 (possibly with a pack in) then rumours of £200 - i think because so many leaks were spot on everyone was taken in

The issue however over price is highlighted perfectly with the accessories/controllers - £40 a control, £69 a pair, £69 for the pro controller, games relating at £60, we are talking a good 30-40% more than the competition offer the same sort of products with similar tech and games which value is entirely subjective!

If you can get over the console cost (which i think i am) its that additional hidden cost that is the real stinger, especially since Nintendo have had a hard on for additional peripherals since the Wii era

i cynically think nintendo is doing a soft launch and testing the waters on die hard fans, with a price drop and more games post E3 and more towards the holidays

  7. In theory i could afford it, i like the system a lot and i NEED Zelda, but i'm buying a house this month i need every penny i can get.

i'd stupidly bought into the idea of a £200 console and was tempted to pre-order at gameseek, but thinking that would be the RRP or close to, i waited for Nintendo themselves to pre-order from! oh how i was wrong

Now i could just about justify the £200, i've got some stuff to sell and will likely make that money, but the £340 i'm gonna need? sure i could but for one game i can unfortunately wait

I don't know, i could sell more stuff but i've too much going on right now to actually go to the effort for a system i'll only realistically have zelda on until May? June? i should just wait until then

  8. The shoulder buttons are not analogue. The back pair feel slightly, but it's certainly not GameCube.

Are you sure they aren't? they'd never have gamecube levels of travel but if it feels slightly like they do then its possible they are or use some clever pressure sensitivity coupled with some hardware shenanigans

Clinging to that hope of Gamecube VC

  9. We all know that won't be the case. They aren't going to do all the big games year one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the service was only around £20 for a year though. Being a paid service it should be far better than Nintendo's previous pitiful online offering. I'm happy to pay for it if they get it right.

Do you manually type quote or do i have split personality and i'm just finding out i'm also Jimbob?

I'm starting to think i'm right about the voice chat being OS level and the APp thing is they typical miscommunication on nintendos part

I noticed a lot of the accessories are headphones with inline remotes/mic's and when ive checked GAF i'm not the only one to notice, some have even pointed out that the English language sites label the top port as a headphone jack, but the Japanese site lists it as a headphone AND mic jack

I think Nintendo have fucked the message with online.......AGAIN!

  10. I think people are over-reacting on the free game. It's a bonus for signing up to the online service, not the selling point.

Frankly it's a SNES game you won't touch after the first day you download it anyway.

I think it's perceived to be one of the selling points, though, and that's a problem for Nintendo as that bonus sucks.

I'm agree with Drahkon, its a selling point - you are paying for a previously free services, which now has added benefits to offset the cost. Not that i don't agree that 99% of games do not get played after the first month, its not entirely true! With the PSN i get 12 free PS4 games, 12 free PS3 Games and 12 free Vita games a year (technically more if you count cross buy) of those games there have been a few i've played to death each year and has on occasion prevented me buying the game at retail (Metal Gear Revengence, Wipeout, Uncharted, Xcom, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, etc etc)*list of EU psplus games* and to me those games offset the cost and make it like i've got free online whilst buying a game

To dismiss the entire programme as unwanted freebee's you ignore is incredibly exaggerated and completely undervalues the appeal of getting free games!

Imagine if the sub service costs £20 for the year and out of the 12 games you get, super mario world, A link to the past, and mario kart - that breaks even on the price right there

  11. Have they royally fluffed communication of the online service?

one game free for a month could jsut be poor communication as PSN does that, you get one free game for a month period then a new game is out....but you keep what you download, perhaps thats the same with this

and the online chat bit could also be ambiguous, as its an app, could it be an app that is on the Switch but also can be managed from a smart phone whilst in game, like apps on the PS4?

this is Nintendo they often struggle to communicate things (i assume every press release is signed off only by upper management who want to streamline them and remove 'waffle' unfortunately leading to this) so it could be that

The alternative is that nintendo have really gone off the deepend with online: -

    paid online holding online play behind a pay wall, with their version free monthly gift being a free trial and;

online chat and lobbies only accessible through an app on a smart phone, so if you haven't got smart phone you can't use them

That just cannot be true, its completely counter intuitive and cannot compete with anyone, even if they don't regard them as direct competitors, i swear this just has to be porr communications...........again!

fair play to them though 90% of it was communicated well, the concept was on point

  12. ITs actually more expensive than i thought factoring in only 32GB of memory and limiting to a max of 128GB expandable, you have to consider an extra £50 a pop for a decent 128 card, even whilst cartridges will save on its usage if you wanted the same size hard drive that most other consoles launch with its a huge expense and irritatingly required swapping memory cards

extra controllers are extortionate - the pro controller should be no more than the DS4

I might have to sell one of my 3DS' to fund this or i'm out

  13. WAIT £160?! Fuck right off! i thought it said £89.99!?!

    EDIT

Wait the US version (exactly the same) is $130 even if you add 20% tax thats $156 which is NOT £160

fucking UK retailer TAX "oh um higher taxes, um exchange rates, um bend over and take it"

    2ND EDIT:

Is that pricing correct? the news outlets i've seen have it listed as £89.99 including the master sword

AmazonLinkle have it for £89.99 and the image shown has it showing the sword included, although doesn't show the case and map

Might pre-order it to be safe, but cancel it as the UK special edition hardly seems worth it - i'd have actually liked the map and case more

  14. Well I'm underwhelmed overall;

The system looks great - but i have questions over the OS and how that opperates

    Super Mario Odyssey looked amazing!

    Splatoon 2 looked great

Xenoblade, Fire Emblem Warriors and many other third party games looked good, but i felt some larger games should have been there

EA......turned up ith a guy who seemed to literally have a pole shoved up his arse

Skyrim Go looked good and entices me to the idea, but i have questions on what version it is, and oddly at points the graphics looked off almost cel shaded

The paid online doesn't sound so bad, a £40 annual sub like the PSN isn't so bad at all, but One NES or SNES game free for a month makes it sound like the subscription is only giving you a month trial of a game

Voice chat is through a Phoen App? that can't be right? managed through an app surely? otherwise it means having a phone and a hands free kit for it

The VC? how does that work? the idea of introducing the Nintendo ID's was so game were supposed to be tied to accounts, does that mean my 3DS/WiiU Library will transfer? or will i be buying them again at full price (worst case scenario) or paying an upgrade fee?

Zelda, blew me away, that is like they took cover art and manual art from Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link and Links awakening and made it actually the game i imagined.......Its a system seller!

or rather it should be - at £279.99 plus +£99 for the game (i'm not kidding anyone i'd get the special edition) its absurd for a console not as powerful as the PS4 and i just cannot see how it can compete even if they get the message across perfectly

I want to pre-order, i really do, but even if the launch line up was better, at those prices (£20 more than every other system's games? is this the N64 all over again?) i could only afford one game and it would be zelda, but i could just get a switch version.

And it does leave me more conflicted, i get zelda's at launch but i do not want to double dip and get the WiiU version, but if the Switch is out of my budget it means i won't get it for some time - it might be i jsut order the game at launch to get the special edition and wait for a switch price drop post E3

  15. From chapter 9 you can glitch Aranea(the dragoon lady) in as a semi-permanent party member. It's easier to keep her around if you have completed the game. Just search for it on youtube if you're interested. Appearently, she even participates in photo ops.

Really? god damn! Love Aranea! I'd love her permanently (and Cindy) it would be better if i could sideline Prompto for her too! @Daft is right Prompto dies all the damn time!

I'm not overly bothered by having to go into the menu for spells and yet at the same time i am - instead of L2 bringing up the MP3 player, it should bring up a magic menu to let you cast spells you have in your flask (with the same cool down) or even R3 which isn't used, hell L1's link abilities is so rarely used that could also be moved in favour of casting

The magic works and i can live with it, but it feels like a missed opportunity to do it the way it is - equipped as a weapon - which annoys me know end when i cast then go to warp strike and can't until i realise i'm "equiped" with a spell

Libra is to long, surely a fast scan ability could have been on the ascension grid

I think i understand the 'reasoning' behind only one hunt, in that it specifically spawns in monsters at that location, so perhaps it could have caused issues having lots spawned high level monsters? ::shrug:

but yeah why can't it automatically complete via phone call? text? all the venders have voices

Not a lot of Armour? you mean outfits? do i really only have these 4? man i thought i'd start getting outfits soon to wear like armours/change appearance! i atleast thought even paid dlc for Sephiroth/Lightening/Cloud/Lightening/Dark Knight/Lightening etc

    Thats shit

  16. I'm on Chapter 6 and i have to agree with Daft the camera control is awful! i discovered as much farming Spiracorn/Duplicorns for weapon parts for a side quest - they spawn near bushes and run around, the camera constantly made its way into a bush so i couldn't see shit!

And i don't like Fishing at all, especially after having to try and catch a Vesper Gar.....

And i miss the choice of party members, i don't really like or see any need in being forced to have the 4 guys, i'd rather like to use others - so far i've had four other guest members and really preferred the Dragoon and Marshal and generally its a little devoid of female influence, which isn't helped by Mr Serious, Photo guy and Tough Guy being as 1 dimensional as a stick man drawing

    I hope that changes

but other than that i'm generally really liking the game, the story is good so far, the combat is great, the magic system is interesting (how do you make Bio,Water, non elemental magics?) and the open world is working surprisingly well

  17. I've struggled with a team of 6 for most of the game, i currently have;

    Main Team

    Decideye (Ghost/Grass) Lvl54

    Inceneroar (Dark/Fire) Lvl52

    Marrowak (Ghost/Fire) Lvl50

    Raichu (Electric/Pshycic) Lvl51

Then the floaters for 5th &6th slot

    Araquanid (Bug/Water) Lvl41

    Crabomnible (Ice/Fighting) Lvl 45

    Lycanroc (Rock) Lvl 39

    Lunala (Ghost/Psychic) Lvl50

    Mimikyu (Ghost/Fairy) Lvl55

I just can't decide on the 5/6th slots, I had the fighting Crab for a long while, but dropped him when i realised it was near the end of the game i could evolve him, and now i have......he's so slow he's useless unless its specific circumstances

Lycanroc had similar issues, he looks cool as, but he isn't quick enough to be usueful

Araquanid is new and i've not have chance to use him yet, Serebii recommended him over Golisopod (who's emergency exit spoiled him), but so far he seems quite good, certainly good enough for me to use a spider

Lunala i only brought briefly for story purposes but its like easy mode with a legendary

Mimikyu is cool, but i just ended up not liking too much and typically don't like non evolving mon, even if its a ghost

Before the game i had high hopes t use Type:Null but i understand he's post game, so it will be my second play through i'll be using it now

Any recommendations of other mon? or ways to make one of the floaters work? I favor Ghost and Ice Types, but its not essential, looking at my typings i could make use of an Ice,Fairy,Dragon maybe Rock

  18. I'm still super skeptical about this game. I find it funny that people are picking apart combat, items, weapons etc., lets be honest combat was completely shit in ME1 but it was still an amazing game because of the story and atmosphere of it. Remember that original trailer that was just about tuning out a distress call because you had to prioritise something else instead? The highlight was on choices, cause and effect etc.. This game is being marketed like it's CoD in space or something.

/i know what you are saying and have started to wonder this myself, there has been a lot of focus on the battle system which makes me think the dev's have lost what made ME good - its story and characters

It could just be that they are trying to keep the story super secret, but they managed to reveal enough during the previous games marketing to keep it secret and interesting, so i don't know

I'd be happy for the combat to be very similar and just a new story, the game doesn't need to do that much different for the sake of being different to me, just deliver a new story in the same universe that engages me
