  1. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Played a bit again myself. Yep the Pan Euro was horrible so I don't think I'll be bothering with that again. I didn't bother with the Superhard, probably just as well. I do enjoy the General Knowledge but I don't see why they feel the need to put so many football questions in there. There are some folks that really couldn't give a shit about the sport, and they already have football special sessions scheduled. Will probably continue playing but if it continues as it is then I can see me losing interest very quickly.
  2. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

I have exactly the same problem. Really need to find time to get back to these, although I fear that after such a length of time I may need to restart.
  3. Overlord: Dark Legend

It is cutesy but there is also plenty of humour in it. Also has longevity which this game lacks, it really is worth a look and has been the highlight of the Wii so far this year. I may be biased though :p.
  4. 1 vs 100 - Xbox Live Primetime

Had a go for about half an hour and seemed to get into the mob fairly easily, didn't get selected as 'the one' as I had my privacy settings set to private initially and I believe that prevents you from being selected (other than the fact that the odds are slim). Seemed OK for a beta and still needs work obviously, but I reckon this will get an occasional look in. Adverts/breaks were a little too frequent but that is more preferential than paying to play. Prizes aren't active at the moment, but if the indicators were representative of how frequent they will be given out when it does go live, there should be plenty of opportunities to grab some goodies.
  5. The Conduit

They gave it 76%, you may need to squirt to see the summary below as I ripped this from someone else's scan and I am too lazy to retype it :p. I will probably end up giving this a rental as I don't see this being a justifiable purchase, what with the brevity of the single player and online is likely to be over-rated and full of hackers in no time.
  6. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Reckon that may be worth a look. I am expecting to hit 10k in the next week or so, also with a completion rate of around 40%. Tried it a couple of weeks back and experienced similar, thought it may have had something to do with my noobish at the game and still being a level 1 player, but maybe not. Even then, I got stuck with a bunch of level 30-40 players . I actually spent longer looking for matches than I did playing/surviving in them, perhaps I need to practice more :p , although the experience did actually put me off.
  7. Tiger Woods 2010 - MotionPlus Confirmed!

May have to think about give this a rent then, when I find a game that I feel is worth picking up a Motion Plus for (and yes, I can't get enthused about Sports Resort, The Conduit or Gland Slam Tennis ).
  8. Tiger Woods 2010 - MotionPlus Confirmed!

That may be true to a degree, but no matter what difficulty settings you end up choosing the game has always been stupidly easily. It's not just exclusive to the Wii version either as it is the same in all the others, although at least the Wii has the definitive version this year, there is still no getting over the fact that this series has been plagued with the same problem for years and I can't see Motion plus making a whole lot of difference. Perhaps if EA were to drop some of the unlockables (the main reason for the ease in difficulty IMO) and provide a challenge for once the game would be worth a look again. Then you have the elastic AI which tries (but usually fails) to trip you up even when you happen to be 70 under par in a Tournament, so this series has a long way to go before being worth the time.
  9. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Haven't looked at VC for ages then noticed that this morning and was wondering this myself as I also felt quite tempted. Was really hoping that Harvest Moon 64 would appear during the Hanabi festival, but sadly not. Wonder if thats ever going to see the light.
  10. Nintendo Wii2

All they would need to do is adapt the Vitality sensor, no need for Wii2 for that to happen. Thus, the birth of Fruit Freshness Training franchise.
  11. Tiger Woods 2010 - MotionPlus Confirmed!

Good to see that EA have addressed the difficulty level this year. [/sarcasm] No matter how good the controls/game may be, it becomes no fun when you can constantly shoot a 52 around Sawgrass or wherever. I think I actually kept last years version for all of a month before boredom set in so I won't be making that mistake again.
  12. Marvelous Porting Wii Games To 360/PS3

Could well be interesting, seeing as I do rate a lot of Marvelllous/Rising Star's Wii output. Rather than straight ports I hope they decide to give the games a graphical bump as there is a slight danger that they'll get overlooked again (as stated by EE). An HD version of Little Kings Story would be an instant purchase.
  13. Overlord: Dark Legend

Wow, the reviewers weren't kidding when they said this was short. Lucky if I managed to get 7 hours out of this, another example of developers giving Wii owners the big time shaft. Save your money people and rent instead. *returns to Overlord 2 to get some sort of longevity*
  14. Overlord: Dark Legend

*wall of text alert :p* I have now spent some time with this and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. Firstly, it definitely is Overlord-lite but that could act as a positive if you are unfamiliar with the series. If you do fall into that camp then I feel that this game really works as an introduction (it is a prequel after all), although fans of the previous game may still get some enjoyment from it. The other thing that immediately strikes you is that this is a very good looking game, with nice character designs, beautiful environments, well done cut-scenes and clean menus. It's a shame that it is let down a little by the fact that there are clearly some framerate issues in some areas. It has managed to maintain the humour that the series is known for although it does feel as though it has been reigned in a little, it's still pretty good though and the mischievous minions may well have you chuckling a few times. Controls on the whole are done well and I would probably struggle less if I wasn't switching between this and the 360 sequel. Pointing to target and sweeping minions is effective enough and doesn't seem laggy. There are a few camera issues although once you get used to things it isn't too bad. The lack of buttons on the Wiimote means that switching minion types and spells is left to the d-pad mostly and this can be a little cumbersome but I don't see how Activision/Climax could have done it differently (other than some sort of on-screen menu with IR input). The biggest problem so far has been my failure to make effective use of the continuous magic, one-off spells are fine, but perhaps I am missing something somewhere. One thing that I haven't run into yet is some of the pathfinding issues that did plague the 360 original. Maybe it has just been luck (or the fact that your max army is smaller) but I don't remember seeing any minions getting left behind or stuck and that small improvement deserves a mention. The story so far has been pretty good with references to a few fairytale characters , ie, Little Red Riding Hood , Tooth Fairy etc. How much further it can move on remains to be seen, especially as this looks to be short, but I am enjoying it so far. Regarding the Overlord-lite statement, money is too easily available so you won't have any trouble powering up your armour, weapons or minions. Lifeforce collection is now incorporated as one, so it removes a little of the strategy required if you want a particular minion type. Should you die during a boss battle (I have once), then you restart with the boss's health as it was when you died a la Bioshocks' Big Daddies, except the bosses aren't tough so it really isn't needed in this game, despite my one failing :p. It definitely looks like it is going to be a short game. I have only put in around 3 and half hours and have already discovered three of the minion types and uncovered just over half the map area. There will be some back-tracking due to discovering new minions but as the areas are so small, it still won't take long to return to those areas to get the missed items. If you are new to the series, then I suppose it may take a little more time, but even then, you won't feel overwhelmed or lost at any point, like you may do in the other consoles versions. With all that being said, I am really enjoying it and as the game is available cheap I do feel that it is a worth a try. Just don't try to take on Overlord 2 at the same time, because the step up is causing me a few problems in that one.
  15. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Picked up Overlord 2 today as I really enjoyed the first and have been looking forward to this for a while, plus I couldn't find Tales Of Vesperia. Played a couple of hours so far and am really enjoying it. Still has the trademark humour, an in-game map finally (still not great, but an improvement), enjoying the new 'mounts' ability and it does seem a little tougher and possibly more depth than the prequel. Not so much tougher enemies but just getting used to the newer game mechanics, like possession, to solve the puzzles. Look forward to spending a lot more time with this.
  16. Tales Of Vesperia

Had a few trade-ins but I was too lazy to go into Town (where there are 2 Game stores and a Gamestation) so had to rely on my local Blockbuster. They didn't have this but I did manage to pick up Overlord 2 and OL : Dark Legend instead, thought it was a bit strange that they would have these games but not Tales. Will probably pick this up online instead when I have paid my credit card next week.
  17. Overlord: Dark Legend

Not sure whether I am going to pick this up as I keep reading that it is too short and has been dumbed down (the Wii plague ) but at that price it may be too hard to resist. EDIT (26/06) - Ended up picking this up this morning (as well as Overlord 2) as I had a few bits and pieces I wanted to trade in. Haven't had a chance to play either of them yet, but will try to post some observations when I have some time with it.
  18. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Alternatively, if you don't fancy ebay (or a trip to Cash Converters), you can pick up new copies of the games for similar prices as above. Assassins Creed £9.73 @ The Hut The Last Remnant £14.95 @ Zavvi
  19. Tales Of Vesperia

On my shopping list but still a little skint at the moment. I may need to start going through my Wii collection as there is a lot there gathering dust so trade-in/sales may be the answer.
  20. The Conduit

Sounds like you only played the demo (if not, my apologies), in which case the full game did have a bit more depth with different Minion types offering varying ways to tackle puzzles and/or enemies. Granted, it was a Pikmin rip but with a bit more humour, which was an acquired taste admittedly. Anyway, probably time to get back on topic :p.
  21. The Conduit

Well I enjoyed it and I'm not alone, although it wasn't perfect.
  22. The Conduit

Only just read about the delay and I am a bit relieved. It was going to be a struggle (and still will be) to afford Tales of Vesperia, Overlord 2 and Overlord : Dark Legend and this on the same day. Although the apparent lack of any reviews regarding Overlord : DL so close to release are a major concern.
  23. EA Sports: Grand Slam Tennis!

Keep thinking about whether or not to give this a look. Seems to be mixed opinions here, although most of it seems to be due to the learning curve of Motion +. The other concern would be the reliability of EAs servers, whilst the general online experience is certainly better incorporated than anything Nintendo have done (barring Mario Kart), previous experience also tells me that EA's servers are seriously dodgy at best. Will keep an eye on further feedback from you guys as I have a big enough shopping list of games wanted and a small/empty wallet as it is already.
  24. Did E3 convince you to buy another console?

Already have a Wii and 360. Yesterday's Conference by Sony has made me give serious consideration to picking up a PS3 also, but I also need to justify the expenditure and worth of owning all three machines. Still happy with the 360 and I only picked that up in December so I am still in the process of trying to catch up with a lot of the back catalogue which is eating into the available funds a bit as well as consuming a load of time. Not particularly impressed with the Wii but I also would be very unlikely to sell it as there are still a few titles on the horizon that should be worth picking up.
  25. Wii Vitality Sensor... Are you having a laugh!

Does anyone actually know WTF this thing is about ? Live feed hell meant I missed/lagged at lot of the announcements (including this), although from the reactions above I'm not missing anything.
