  1. I wonder when they'll start revealing the online components of this game.

Good god: 5 times the size of Xenoblade, more vocal songs, new healing system, more open world gameplay, 300 hours!?!

Looks like I'll be looking for a new friend to get me through this adventure over the years.

  2. I thought this was set in some fantasy world. Why would there be an American ship in it?

I think you just answered your own question.

And perhaps that's his bill at the end.

    That's not a bill.

Riki is visiting a temple in these pictures and the piece of paper is basically a glorified version of what one could find in a fortune cookie.

You can buy fortunes at temples: when it's positive you can take it with you, when it's negative you can leave it at the temple so they can do something about the bad omen.

  3. So after a somewhat longer than usual hiatus  I have decided to grace N-Europe once more with conversation pieces.

Sharing opinions on games is what we do after playing them and then we get into an argument here or there only to realize once again that they are all just opinions. Usually that last part is lacking a bit, but oh well....: peace:

Well then, today I present to thee a game which is very close to my heart even though I probably won't ever get a chance to replay it.

    journey-game-screenshot-1-b.jpg

A friend invited me over to try out some indie games on his PS3.

    One of them was Journey.

I had heard good things but didn't really know what it was.

4 hours later I was incredibly moved by where gaming had come as a medium.

This was interactive art at its finest.

A short time span, almost like a movie, which grabs you, doesn't let you go, and you finish it within an evening.

The message of reincarnation, a timeless classic.

A grand example of spiritual gaming.

To me, this is a game which could convince people who know next to nothing about games to start appreciating its beauty, splendour and possibilities.

So how did you feel after the Journey?

  4. In 2014, I replayed loads of my favourite games throughout the course of the year and had an absolute blast doing so :yay: There's no need to pay full price for the latest games only to neglect those you already own.

During my recent GC fixation, I put Hitman 2: Silent Assassin on to see where I was at and if it would grab me and make me want to finish it. It didn't, so I can see that being sold along with numerous other titles I don't feel I need. I'm somewhat expecting Prince of Persia: Warrior Within to fall into that category as I lost interest in it previously and would probably prefer to replay The Sands of Time

Did you replay your avatar and sig though?

  5. As far as general gaming fatigue goes, though, you should play what you want to play rather than forcing yourself to play through something to the end just because you feel like you should or to clear it off the backlog.

    This is sound advice.

My gaming ways have changed tremendously in about a year time.

At first, I was a pretty serious gamer who always had one game going on a home console, a game going on a handheld, some smaller games on the side (like Mutant Mudds or an Oracle game etc..) and a buddy game usually on a home console.

Then everything went to shit last year and through relationship problems and whatnot I lost two of my best gaming friends in one fell swoop, leaving me cold and disinterested in games for a while since I felt it was time to focus on other things in my life which I had been ignoring/postponing.

However, I knew that I shouldn't be too rigorous and and just sell everything like another friend of mine did who sold his PS4 and some games because he decided to focus on other things in life.

I opted for the middle way and I discovered that I had trouble going through games by myself, so I found another gaming gal who is on the same NINTENDO mindset as me, very happy I met her, and we are currently going through Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door together, since she has never played it before.

Though we meet up maybe once or twice a month this is enough for me.

Slowly but surely, I am starting to regain my interest in the act of gaming again. Going through my Japanese version of Kirby: Mass Attack and I have other Japanese games waiting for me in an effort to also get back into my Japanese groove.

Gaming fatigue comes and goes, but I have come to peace with the fact that I will never be able to play everything on my list, even though I still keep updating it which helps me remember which games I'd like to experience some time.

I must confess though, not having Smash Bros. WiiU or A Link Between Worlds does kind of bother me, so those will be first on my list when I finally get a job and some money.

The balance between backlog games and keeping up-to-date with new releases had always been a struggle for me from time to time, but I notice that I don't put myself under pressure as much as I used to.

    Eezie gaming, guys :)

  6. Wishful thinking: Nintendo GT

17 years after the original release of Gran Turismo, Nintendo finally manage to get their thumb out and create a game that will make their console a plausible choice for racing fans.

    Ah yes.

Feels good to be back, haha.

    Never change Hogge:bowdown:

    =============

    A Few Predictions

    =============

    *No More Heroes 3

*Sakurai's new project well become known

    *No mention of Advance Wars

*After Yoshi and Kirby, we might see Wario again in a glorious sidescrolling game. Can't be no NINTENDO without no sidescrollers

When Star Fox is first shown people will be pissed. Mark my words. Lack of character and Miyamoto focusing on how cool the use of the GamePad is.

*Metroid by Retro Studios. I'm almost certain.

*Somebody gets struck by common sense and decides it's time to make Endless Ocean 3

  7. First of all, Ridley being semi-playable. A classic Nintendo half-measure. Why not just make him fully playable as a character? If they've gone to the effect of putting him in there, why not go the extra mile and put him in full stop? So infuriating because he looks fucking awesome. I'm happy that he's there, but also so bitter.

There you go, someone gets it

Too bad it's the Ridley from Other M though, he looks a bit off...

  8. Thank you, guys :yay: I've been having pretty good day and all (and I'm currently a bit tipsy).

But I'd like to send a shout to Fused King. It's his birthday too, and he deserves a salute as much as I do. Happy Birthday, buddy, I hope your day was even better :)

    Much obliged, much obliged!

You have a good one too, Buddy.

May you walk the earth with many more steps to come:bowdown:

  9.

I feel like this is in the same situation as Sunshine. If it didn't have Paper Mario on the box, I bet people would see it in a more favourable light.

    I knew this was coming.

    'Judge it on its own'.

Believe me, I like it when they try something different, but this time it just didn't work out. There's nothing remotely interesting about this game in my opinion.

Viewing it as a game detached from the Paper Mario franchise is what I can do, and when I do that I see an awful piece of software which commits the worst crime of all: it bores me.

It bores me because it's tedious and has no charm.....the areas are soooo dull and it's just retracing your steps time and time again without any real joy coming of this....

  10. Paper-Mario-Sticker-Star-European-boxart.jpg

To have gone from Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door to this within my still short life span as a gamer has been most traumatic.

The best way to release this game was to just release its OST.

The fact that it's just so lackluster, so lacking of any Paper Mario charm in almost any way, just .... just ....

  11. Sounds pretty deep, actually.

By the way, it occurred to me that we've only had 4 newcomers (Little Mac, Shulk, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager) from NINTENDO who are new in the sense that they represent a franchise.

Pretty sad that no newcomers from unrepresented franchises have become playable.

    No one from Advance Wars,

    No one from Rhythm Paradise,

No one from the Paper Mario // Mario&Luigi series

  12. Right, so that was ol' Soda Pop.

Just like Nando, I fucked up that sonnab!tch in the first round.

Now, Bald Bull.....this game makes me cry sometimes :(

It's the ultimate form of masochism.

    Edit: FUCK THIS GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  13. Just be sure here:

My girlfriend cheated on me 3 years ago during a time when she already knew she wanted to break up with me.

It's quite a bit different from what I did, but it's still cheating, I guess.

    Still, there's nuance there.

Thanks for all the advice. It's interesting to see you guys' opinions on these matters.

    I'll be alright.

These experiences have showed me who I really love, but I can also live with separation.

It's a bit of a complicated matter, but for now we'll just see what happens.

(Out of curiosity, what is your Bachelor's in? You strike me as an "art" kind of guy, but I don't want to assume.)

I am now in my 4th year of Japanstudies.
