Lone Wolves. Theres plenty of people better, loads. Sheikah is right though, vehicles are pretty useless in Halo. If theres 2-3 of you in a warthog, expect to be lasered/rocket launchered/snipered/plasma'd/power drained, same applies to ghosts etc. I personally think vehicles are pretty lame, apart from being easy to take down, when you get killed by one like 80% of the time it's by someone who gets -6 in k/d spread and is just annoyed of sucking so bad they need to resort to other means of being able to scroung a kill or two. I'm not even being mean, it's just the reality.
  2. When You Were Younger...

My friend has 'When you were young' as an alarm. It's the most annoying thing. EVER. To think I actually liked the song at one point... and yeah, awesomeness, for at least their first album :s Edit: More on topic...I wanted to win the lottery. I still do.
  3. When You Were Younger...

Haha! Take the 'er' off of the thread title and i'm haunted by memories of that song, which woke me up so many times after very little sleep. Who's silly idea was it to put that as their alarm.
  4. Football Season 2008/2009

I want to see Rooney and Walcott, but theres no big centre forward in that situation. Maybe Heskey and Rooney...it's actually quite a tough decision for a few reasons: Rooney is a match winner, and potentially one of the best players in the world. Heskey is tall and powerful, a presence we do need up front. Walcott is fast and very talented (didn't see his last goal for arsenal but aparently it was a spectacular finish - if it's anything like the run he made against Liverpool in last years Champions league quarter final then ) Finally Defoe, probably one of my least favourites, but two goals against Everton gives him a fighting chance to be in the line up too. bah, dunno

Yeah, i've hardly ever died to vehicles... but, for example, in team slayer games (even when I was rank 40+ in them) you can get lumbered in teams with people who just run out and die to vehicles over and over. All that means is that you may aswell just sit back in the base, kill anyone that comes in and just wait for the game to finish so you can lose a rank and gain no experience. That's why lone wolves is better unless you have a team. I was in halls at University when Halo 3 came out, so played through campaign with a friend there, but couldn't get live to work so only played it when I was back for holidays etc, and this summer. Having played Halo 2 on the Xbox360 (which is different to Halo 3, but it's the same concept) helped a lot, and it didn't take me too long to get used to it. However, after I got back for the summer holidays, me and a friend who recently got an Xbox360 played it for a while, but got pretty bored after a few weeks. Haven't played it for over a month now, but if I come on i'll drop you a PM with my gamertag.

Wish I could agree. I cringe whenever I see the start of a vehicle scene in single player campaign. I guess it's down to personal choice, the warthog bit at the ending of Halo 1/3 is pretty good. But in general, I hate being in a warthog/ghost for long...I prefer to be able to hide behind things as well take advantage of the flexibility of being on foot. Obviously theres points in all the Halo games where it's a necessity to be in a vehicle, or very useful at least. In those cases i'll use a vehicle, but if i've got the choice between being on a warthog/ghost or having the max amount of grenades, as well as a sniper rifle and rocket launcher or whatever, I know which scenario i'd pick everytime. But yeah, it's about personal taste though, just prefer FPS' to have a few vehicle scenes but leave the person to actually tackle the enviroment without a huge advantage! I am aware the whole post makes me seem like some halo addict, I really enjoyed the split screen campaign with friends...especially on the first one, but the campaign on halo 2/3 lacked something, so I hardly even played those. I guess the vehicle/non vehicle debate can be compared to something like invincibility on mario: for some it's fun, but for others the risk factor of being able to get screwed at any moment is what makes the game enjoyable. Just my two cents.

Vehicles make Halo? lol? I played the first halo when it was released, as well and Halo 2 and 3 online. I'm around rank 47 which is pretty good, but theres plenty of people better. However, as you get to a higher skill level the usefulness of vehicles decreases (especially ghosts). Whatever way you look at it, at the end of the day being in a vehicle requires next to no skill what-so-ever...just aiming a massive crosshair anywhere near the person kills them rapidly and is seen by a lot of people as something people who play Halo very little do. I've personally not played in a few months, and didn't play it that much when I did, but I agree 100% with Sheikah when he says it's the most annoying thing on earth (for example on Standoff (?) when people just hop in the warthog and spray the turret at anyone they see) it's almost pathetic. Spartan laser/rocket launcher/plasma grenades do work well against vehicles though, and as you improve you get killed by them less and less. Vehicles are the most annoying thing in halo, followed by people who camp snowbound behind the blue lazers all day with a shotgun.
  8. Football Season 2008/2009

A turning point in the season was the game against Birmingham (think it was Birgmingham) when Eduardo suffered the worst injury in the premiership of the season. Especially since (if my memory serves me correctly) the same game saw Arsenal draw 2-2? where William Gallas was a complete shambles of a capitain. In my opinion that MUST have had an impact on the players, and some of Gallas' team talks after that looked completely ridiculous. Personally I think he's to blame for part of the failure towards the end of the season, however much he helped you at the start. Apart form that theres not enough backup in the squad, and Arsenal needs to hang on to key players...my prediction is that Walcott will be an awesome player for you, but Wenger moans about players being too greedy (with which I couldn't agree more) but unless there is something drastic done about it, caving in to players demands is what some clubs MUST do to keep their key players. Sad but true. Personally, I never thought Arsenal would finish 5th. That was almost laughable for me, I really believed they would make 3rd or 4th, but not higher, and let's face it...they nearly proved us all wrong.
  9. Rate the last film you saw

Probably been posted a lot, but the last movie I saw was The Dark Knight in the cinema, and it's impossible not to agree with the good response it has been getting. It truely was a great film, maybe not THE best, but I never thought a Batman film could have so much depth and quality acting (with Heath Ledger's acting as he played the 'Joker' a highlight of the film - not just because he died as suggested by some, but because he was a great actor and the part he played was (for me) as good as it gets). 9/10
  10. Football Season 2008/2009

Yeah, true! I still think Queiroz will be a big loss to the club. I personally see Nani as having a bigger impact than Anderson this season, but when Scholes enters his final season, I really do believe Anderson will proove himself as a world quality player (anyone who has seen him has got to admit he has a LOT of potential). As for Spurs, I think Arshavin could be a risky buy. Fair enough, he had a great tournament in Euro2008 and seems to be a great player but players DO sometimes flop in the Premiership and I believe he could be one of them. Then again a risk is always needed to bring in a player who could effectively bring a different dimension to the team and add so much (just take Torres as liverpool last season - he dramatically changed their side). I can honestly say as a true United fan, when we were playing Liverpool last season I feared the worse when Torres was on the ball. Even though he had little impact in the games against United, he proved that in the big games theres few people (if anyone) upfront who is better - with goals against Chelsea and Arsenal being prime examples. Therefore, at the moment I currently see Arshavin as a gamble, which might or might not pay off. Personally, I want to see a reinforcement for defence brought in at United...along with a well established striker. Berbatov/Sergio Ramos,Eto'o (could be quite a good buy as he was unsettled at Barcelona last season) etc. I realise that money is a factor, and don't want to see like the kind of fan who says "oh yeah, get messi, get kaka as well" or whatever, so improvisation could be the key (a bid for Santa Cruz would be welcomed for example). That's just my two cents though, I saw Arsenal today...was very impressed with Walcott and Adebayor. Real Madrid looked very ordinary no? Nistelrooy and Roben looked like the only threats to me. I personally see the current 'big four' taking the top four places. I'd say a fiver for a bet that a team that finished way outside the top 5 last season would not enter the top four would be a great bet. I'm not disrespecting Spurs what so ever, they are a good team, but I personally just don't see it happening this season.
  11. Football Season 2008/2009

Can't wait for the new season to start! Manchester United fan here, and after all the celebrations after the champions league final, there has been nothing but bad news (for Manchester United fans, nobody else in the premiership of course :p). With Queiroz leaving, no summer signings, a tough fixture set up next season and Chelsea's new manager, I can see this year being one that's very below-par. However! despite my pessimistic ways, next season will be fun as always... Personally I see the top four ending up as 1. Chelsea, 2. Manchester United, 3. Liverpool and 4. Arsenal, don't hold me to that at the end of the season...unless i'm right of course!
