  1. Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver

These are, by default, the greatest Pokemon games ever produced. Forget about Diamond or Pearl, you want true Pokemon action, these games are the place to look. The first Pokemon game I ever played. The pokemon were brilliant, the additions fantastic, and the setting genius. I remember visiting Goldonrod City every Tuesday and Thursday for the bug catching contest, which was enthralling. But the best part of the game was easily the addition of Kanto. Two regions? 8 more gym leaders? And the fight with Ash at the end of the game, just... genius.
  2. Looks nice, was the sea water warm? I only ask because whenever I visit the Meditteranean, the water is usually too cold to have a decent swim in. I believe the Phillipines is one of the only two (or three?) Christian countries in Asia.
  3. Inspirational Landscapes in Videogames

Tallon IV, Metroid prime is stunning- a leaving, breathing planet, full of mystery and beauty. Oh, and Hyrule. Hyrule's beautiful, albeit too small.

Regarding the veils Muslim women choose to wear- it's not a choice. They may decide how much of their face they want to cover, but generally, in public Muslims have to stick to strict clothing rules. My personal opinion is that Islam, in general, has to be taken into the Twentieth Century. Women in the Muslim World are generally not given equal rights (although Morocco and Tunisia are exceptions to this), many Islamic countries choose to show no sign of democracy, instead sticking with a monarch they believe God chose, in Saudi Arabia and Iran homsexuality is a crime punishable by death, and Muslims keep strong views about who they marry. Even though this isn't strictly true for all Muslims, it is true for a lot of Muslims in the Middle East, unfortunately. Islam, however, is by no means the only religion that needs updating- the Catholic Church and its attitudes regarding contraception and homosexuality are disgraceful in the eyes of any 21s Century Liberal. Anyway, too off topic. That's my two cents.
  5. The Book Thread

I finished Animal Farm yesterday. Probably one of the best books I've had the fortune of reading. I love how it transforms from 'All animals are equal' at first to 'all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others' at the end. Forget historical accounts, this book tells the tale of a Communist dictatorship (especially Stalin's USSR) better than anthing else out there, and does so in a gripping manner.
  6. How was your day?

-Just been out sunbathing. It's 19*C outside, and sunny, too. -Been into town and bought £15 sunglasses. They're quality ones, too.
  7. Common European names.

The Frogs have Pierre, the Russians have Vlad, and the Germans have English language names but with different spelling, like Josef.
  8. N-Europe i need your help.

Take one and it turns out she doesn't want any- Oh well, keep the present. Don't take one and she does want a present- Uh oh.
  9. To forum, bye.

    Weren't you an administrator?
  10. Language acquisition

I think Italy does as well.
  11. Language acquisition

I learnt German a few years back... Romance languages have just never appealed to me. I love English, because it's become a collection of different languages- we have Latin, Romance, Germanic and even Greek and Arabic phrases in there. Romance languages, however, actually have regulatory bodies which deicde what you can and cannot say. I think a particular French one is worried about the 'Americanisation' of French.

And the weather, and the big cities, and the beaches, and the countryside, and the people:grin:

Frankly, the 'poor island' excuse is pathetic. Japan has a far higher population density than us (despite being bigger, a lot of Japan is uninhabitable), and the Japanese economy and society is booming. We're not some tiny island struggling to make room, we're 244,820 km squared. We can fit a lot more people in here before we need to worry.
  14. Oh, my bad. Thank you for the correction.
  15. From the same people who granted Hitler the title...
  16. Sexuality Thread

Well, there is still some contention as to whether asexuality exists amongst humans. Biology dictates that animals will always be attracted to members of the opposite/same sex, and that homosexual activity in animals is, in fact, rife. It would be very wierd for someone to say that they're not attracted to anybody or any type of person in the world. Anyway, on the grounds of sexuality (and the fact sexuality isn't just restricted to gender), I'm beginning to realise I have an overwhelming attraction to black women. They're just so hot.
  17. User Image Gallery

Money in mouth is not always the greatest of ideas- you don't who its last owner was, and- it's just generally unhygenic.
  18. The Music Thread.

Usually, I don't like the gang, but seeing as I'm a Tinchy fan, I thought I'd give it a go. The other songs by N-Dubz, especially Papa, are utter insults to music, though.
  19. Help the Gurkhas

As with anybody in the Armed Forces, you have my upmost respect. The food is only of concern to me because I'm a fussy eater, and, even though the food is said to have improved considerably over the past years, it still may not be my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I'll join, for the experience, if anything. I was thinking of the Marines, but the training looks too tough. This is going way off topic.
  20. The Music Thread.

Loving Tinchy Strider's and N-Dubz's new song, number 1.
  21. Swine Flu Vs Will Smith And His Dog

Off-topic, but Will Smith's film is one of my favourite ever. And he's my favourite actor.
  22. Help the Gurkhas

I, for one, am pro-military. And seeing these brave people putting their lives on the line for the sake of the very nation that treats them as outcasts is appalling. But this shouldn't be very surprising to anyone. The Government more or less turns a blind eye to anybody who's served in the Armed Forces and no longer does. It's a crying shame that charities such as Help for Heroes have to be set up in place of state funding for the welfare of these heroes. As someone who's seriously considering a future in the Army, it's of real concern that if I'm mentally scarred ot loose a limb in battle, the government won't be there to even thank me. Well, it's that and the food I'm worried about.

Immigrants are generally good for the UK. In my views, as soons as their applications for citizenship have been approved, they're as British as you or I. The reason most immigrants choose the UK is due to our quality of life. For example, I know quite a few who faced religious persecution in the Middle East, or were just starving and needed shelter, or faced poverty and tyranny. If I were in their shoes, I'd do exactly the same thing. Being British, to me, is more than a nationality- it's a value, and a value anyone can share. That said, there are still issues. I'm fine with people coming to the UK, but learning English should be their first responsibilty. But surely all Muslims are terrorists!
