  1. Exam Results & UCAS August 2010

I went there last year (for about a week, then dropped out) It's nice there, you should like it
  2. Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier

As much as I love Maiden I'm not liking this new album as much as I did A Matter of Life and Death. When the wind blows is also my favourite on the album, but other than that, there aren't that many songs that stand out. I can't say I've picked out very many memorable riffs and the lyrics are lacking a lot of inspiration which was present in AMOLAD. Hopefully they'll announce a full UK tour soon. AMOLAD was great live And the set list for the Final Frontier tour looks even better than that.
  3. The Inbetweeners

Ayyy! I was wondering when this was out again. I thought the first two series's were great (the first being slightly better than the second). Can't wait, cheers Rez
  4. Home Sweet Home

I used to think this, but I don't think our area is actually that bad. Yes a lot of the towns are shockingly shit, but it doesn't take much more than a 5 minute drive in any direction to find a nice little town or village. We've got lots of forests and country parks and we're not very far from the peak district. It can't be that bad when there's a Center Parcs close by eh? I'm not saying everything is perfect though, the actual town I live in is as Moogle described. But other than that it's a semi decent area to live in. When I graduate I wouldn't want to live where I do now, but I wouldn't mind living within an hour or so away. (Which actually gives me quite a lot of places to live.)
  5. A new slate?

    - Hello, I'm Strider (Although lately I don't really like this name) - My real name is Liam, although I am also known as Bailey to a minority of people. - I'm 19, 20 in October. - I live in the East Midlands in a poor ex-mining town. - I'm currently on an unplanned gap year which I'm ashamed to say I've been on the dole for the majority of it. - I started at The University Of East Anglia last year on a computer science course which I found massively boring so dropped out. - In September I will be going to study Biology at The University of Hull. - I'm currently working on a farm, driving tractors, shooting rats, cleaning barns. - I drive a red Rover 200, which I've owned for two years and still haven't got a name for. - I like Sci-Fi. - I'm a PS3 man. - I don't post enough on these forums.
  6. What do you do for a living?

I'm currently unemployed and on the dole in my gap year. I'll be starting Uni again in September to study Biology. After that I plan to apply as a Clinical Scientist/do a masters/go in the police/other.
  7. Questions

You can add me to the list as well, it randomly works sometimes (like now) but the majority of the time it doesn't. I'm with Sky as well.
  8. New Computer

One last question. I'm looking into the Windows 7 Student deal (http://students.pugh.co.uk/index.php?nID=productDetail&manu=50&prodID=2830) However it does say it is the "Upgrade" version of windows 7. Would I be able to install this on a PC without any OS on it?

  10. New Computer

Thanks for the info, cheers guys Edit - McPhee - Where did you build that PC from? Ebuyer? Edit MK2 - Aria
  11. New Computer

Cheers for the advice people I think I'll go with a Desktop then. It should be fairly easy to save up for a net-book soon after, if not there's always Christmas to help towards it. Can anyone recommend a PC (tower only) for £400 ish? (I don't mind a little bit more and I would be happy to build)
  12. New Computer

That was my reasoning for possibly getting a desktop. I wouldn't be taking a laptop to lectures or anywhere really. I'd be home every 2-3 weeks for the weekend, so I suppose it would be easier to have a laptop for transport (although I'd have my car anyway), but like you say I'd get more for my money with a desktop. Hmm it's a toughy.
  13. New Computer

To be honest I am quite surprised myself, it's on for about 10 hours most days so it's had a good innings. Ohhh I see. These are the things I know nothing about, I just think, "ahh dedicated graphics card, that'll do." :S
  14. Stargate TV Shows

In the first half of the season I'll admit I didn't like him very much. However since the Jungle planet episode (Time?) he's beginning to grow on me, although I can't put my finger on what's changed. I'd say the character that I can't stand the most would be Colonel Young.
  15. Post Your Purchases

Tamron 70-300mm Canon fit camera len (It was cheeeaaaap)
  16. Vroom vroom thread

I don't trust used car company's at all to be honest, especially with "too good to be true" deals. They all just seem a bit 'iffy'. I find you get the best deals from private sellers where you can actually see the person who was driving the car before hand and make a bit of a judgement. I'd advise finding a KA specific forum and looking for/asking about the key warning signs/problems you should look for when buying used and have a good thorough look around it. With Rover's 'mayo' around the dipstick means head gasket problems (common fault with Rovers at around 50k milage)... (That's just an example... although I would recommend rovers :P)
  17. How was your day?

Yaaaaaaaay I'm no longer unemployed I received a phone call earlier and have secured a job working for the National Trust. That should go nicely with my Biology degree when it's finished. I also firmed the Uni on the unconditional offer I received today. Good day
  18. Recommend some lols.

Jason Manford is one of my favourite comedians
  19. How was your day?

Urgh shit day so far. I had an interview with PC World this morning which went shockingly shit. Why can't employers just ask normal none retarded questions instead of the "Give an example and explain where/how you....(Insert random situation)". As I was leaving he described me as not being "shit hot", which apparently is what he is looking for in his personal spec. The tit. Anyway on the way home my car decides it wants to learn the steel drums by starting to produce loud metallic bangs from under the bonnet. Not being daft I pull in at the side of the road and take a gander under the bonnet to see a coating of hot creamy ooze everywhere. Great. My head gasket has gone, apparently a common fault with Rovers and it couldn't have come at a worst time. I have 3 University open days this week, each being at least 1.5 hour away, I have an interview at a country park which is in the middle of nowhere on Thursday and to top it off it's going to cost £300 to repair... yay.
