  1. I don't really get too involved in politics except for voting. I'm also not allowed to due to my job. But all I know is he has put 4p on my beer god dammit!

We should thank our lucky stars its only 4p!

Before the budget when over my parents I picked the paper my parents get a couple of times (the daily mirror-usless rag but i digress ;) ) and they were running stories about cheap drink and of course the problems that 'go with' it, IE chav scummers booze d up and City Centre yobs (the latter always there, always omni present if the papers are beleved  )

(To parapharse the Mirror 'Crates of Carlsberg from tescos that equate to 6p a can discusting!', £1 for a G&T at Weatherspoon evil!'-(Ah yes Mirror, G&T the choice drink of middle aged woman everywhere, the scouge of our land ).

Now what this boiled down to is the paper wanted a higher tax/or higher pricing on booze (and I dont think they just meant tennents super stength here) to help combat its ills, of course completely glossing over the fact this idea also punishs the majority of all drinkers over 18 that just enjoy a drink or (god forbid) a few and dont cause any bother at all.

Taxes effect the rich less of course, I wonder what the average salary of a fleet street Reporter is? hmm

God forbid we get a drink without paying though the nose for it!

Of course the paper suggesting harsher punishments for those who cause trouble on drink or greater powers for the police must have been too fair an idea for them.

This may not seem to be the most important thing to put so much thought into but never under estimate how much power media has in/over politics that can effect us all.

Jesus right now im glad I dont drive ;)

  2. I've suspected for some time now that my girlfriend has been having an affair. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up. She started going out 'with the girls' a lot recently although when I ask which girls it is always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them". I always look out for her taxi coming home but she always walks down the drive although I can hear a car setting off. As if she has got out of the car round the corner. Why? Is it not a taxi? I once picked her mobile up just to see what time it was and she went beserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her. Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my g/f. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her. I decided I was going to hide behind my car which would give me a view of the whole street so I could see which car she gets out of. It was whilst crouched behind my car that I noticed rust around my rear wheel arch. Should I take it into a body repair shop or should I buy some stuff from the local auto shop and try to repair it myself?

    Ha ha, good stuff

  3. I have worms two for my PC (wonderfull) and Armagedon (for some reason I cant get that one working- but im not that bothered as worms two is that good) . Also I have worms 3D for gamecube (ok game - enjoyed this) and Worms open ware for DS which is one class little game I havent realy played that much but im oging o pick up more is it is great.

  4. Pete, you've utterly missed the point: see my earlier posts- they've been quoted enough and should have ended the thread on page one, frankly. This isn't BT, it's a University.

Net from BT? now thats something that is a terrible thing ;) IMO

(Seriously though) Fair enough mate :)

For the people suggesting I'm my friend,

Oops, in my case I just mis-read the post Mikey (sunday morning read, few beers and late night on Saturday) lol.

  5. Censorship for consenting adults, when the content is within the boundries of law = wrong.

Ponders... It seem we have more freedoms than ever, yet the govenment and other organisations are now are more eager than ever to interfere with them or take them away and people are letting them now more than ever..sad.. Still looks like its down to the newsagents to buy some jazz mags for you mate ;)

This is just one more part of the nanny state (and im being serious there).

  6. We all feel that, because we must believe we are special in order to live comfortably with ourselves. Either that or we have no self esteem and are most likely depressed. Either way, we suck.

Jesus!, you can be negitive you know. From posts you've made in the past you sound like a smart person but your attitude towards society and humanity can be very... glib lol (from what ive read, and I could be wrong, I dont know you), Hell theres non more cynical than me but I also like to think I can see the possitivity and the good side of things, sometimes I just dont that from yourself.

Anyways Im sure a lot of the great art has been created by people feeling this way.

To Supercrunch - I feel this way a lot as well,l I think that you are using this feeling to motivate your self to do 'small' things is a smart thing, If you can use to try and great something bigger, go for it, it could be very enriching to create something.

By the by I keep thinking maybe Ill learn to play my acoustic guitar better and then attempt to write some songs or write a screen play for a movie or TV show, its nice to have pipe dreams.

  7. Thats just the usual advert crap. One over streched half assed idea thats not very well exicuted because/and the product is pushed so into your face with a bunch of messages regarding it any impact the advert had regards entertainment value is lost.

People tend to be a bit more relaxed and laugh a little more readly at the cinema, I dont think most people would laugh at this advert if they saw it on

TV, if they did they would be total morons ;) .

  8. Well I like Pearl Jam and you dont so fair enough friend, on the musicanship thing, well lets just agree to differ on that on that for now but when you used the word awful to discribe creed, there as far as im concerned your bang on the money.

  9. Early Pearl Jam (up to and including Vitalogy) = Fantastic rock music (after that take it or leave it my friends).

Creed (imo) = Laughable, hammed up, stomach churning fake 'grunge' light, (seems pretty obvious to me).

  10. Core is probably their weakest album. I really like "Tiny Songs ..."

Lots of their albums sound very different to each other.

Have you tried Screaming Trees? If you like grunge you should pick up Dust and Sweet Oblivion (at least). Dust is up there with the best grunge albums of ever.

Oh yes, but I dont have any of there albums so maybe I might get one next. :)

  11. Core, so it's got some really good tunes on it. To be fair I think Soundgarden tried to do their sound for a song or two which just didn't work at all. It's cool, really chilled out which reminds me that i need to get hold of some Opeth as well.

Cool, Core is a great album, if you decide to get anymore STP i reccomend No 4. (Well thats my favorite), now thats a killer album.

  12. Just got hold of some Stone Temple Pilots! My kind of stuff because I'm a big 90s grunge-o but it's strange because they are a big mixing pot of all of the others. Very Pearl Jam meets Soundgarden. It's not great music but its still cool to listen too, like all of the soundtrack for The Crow.

Which album(s) did you get? glad you like the music IMO its fantastic music, I think they started to carve out there own sound from the 2nd album onward, they recived a lot of criticism as a band which is a shame ya know as they were one of the great talents of 90's.

  13. Three should be a

"Best of generic Indie band riding off the success of Arctic monkeys and other similar bands" CD.

    Shite including

    Scouting for girls

    The Wombats

    The Hoosiers

    The Kooks

    Please, add more.

Totally agree with this but I do like the arctic monkeys for the ok spikey 'punky' band they are with some clever lyrics IMO. However as usual with music the generic copyist rubbish that followed (happens all the time in music) was reliabley (sp?) awful.

A Bird In Hand by Cerys Matthews = the most awesome feel-good song ever

I've just realised how little male voices I actually like.

    I like:

    Paulo Nutini

    Anthony Kiedis

Antony Heggarty (His voice is so unique)

And I'm struggling to think of more. (There are probably more, but I can't think of them right now)

I don't know exactly why, but the female voice appeals to me so much more than the male voice.

For me its the other way round I just cant get away with female singers a lot of the time, I like some female vocals sometimes but there not really appealing to me mostly (dont know why).

My favourite vocalists are Billy Corgan, Eddie Vedder, Scott Weiland and Thom Yorke.

  14. I don't think films have declined at all, times are just changing and are meeting demands from different people.

    Forest Gump

That film never ever fails, I mean ever, I have loved this film for years and when it was on saturday I watched the whole damn thing.

It's one of the only films that makes me sad. But in a good way I guess

    10/10

Cool hun, Im just not too keen on the modern horror, thats all :)

  15. Yes, I agree, the mainstram has definately gone dwn hillz.

Ah, do you know what I like more than mis-spelling things? Thats nerdy little perdantic weiners who sit behind there computers and direct random insults at total straingers when they should be removing the sticks from there arses and for that reason I send much kudos your way my friend.

Proberbly mis-spelt that as I had posted it after not sleeping for 24 hours, still when you have an active social life....

  16. Return of the Jedi 10/10.

The Blair Which Project. Now ide never actually seen this before, Ide heard some people say they loved it and some say they thought it was awful. I thought it was great,

not totally amazing but a very good horror that actually got you feeling scared ( something thats all but gone these days- in the mainstram anyway).

    8.5/10.

  17. People like that should be shot from a cannon into a pit into a pit of spikes (free speach aside maybe its time to thin out the idiots a little ;) ).

I thought being a Christian was about helping the less fortunate. It is wrong on so many levels to 'protest' at a mans funeral as he played someone gay in film (for 'christ's sake!) and that is obvious to all but the most warped individuals.

  18. I have one of these, http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/114167/Play-com-USB-Dual-PS2-to-PC-Convertor-XP/Product.html

Its for PS2 pads, works very well and seem compatable with any games I throw at it (and at £6.99 with 2 ports on the adaptor for two pads its pretty sweet).

The PS2 pad is light years a head of the generic PC stuff and a pretty good pad in general obviously. Ive never really used a 360 pad yet though.
