Well my plans to start another RPG have not gone well. Decided to go with Saga Frontiers as it's short then it just seemed to run terribly. One of those older games where if you use the run button your character shoots across the screen with very little control and it didn't look great either so I've dropped that one. Went with Chrono Cross next and now the slowness of everything is getting to me I think I might just have to go with something more modern.

Well Liverpool v Man U was incredibly frustrating...

Super Mario RPG (for Switch! - 17th November 2023)
Happenstance replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Just completed the story. As I said, lot of charm but not really on the same level as later Mario RPGs. Found it was getting a bit tedious by the end as well. Glad I've finally played it though. -

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I tend to prefer more linear games anyway. I find it works better for a tighter narrative. -
Ooh nice, the Spider-Man 2099 omnibus finally got a restock so I managed to snag a copy

Finally managed to catch the 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth controller during one of it's discounts so got that coming today now as well. I was using the 8bitdo Pro 2 which worked perfectly fine but it will be nice to be able to turn the Switch on while docked with this controller. I've been meaning to get one for a while.

Super Mario RPG (for Switch! - 17th November 2023)

Started playing Mario RPG yesterday. It's definitely charming and I'm enjoying it so far but I think the humour definitely is better in later games from what I've seen so far. Hoping the music gets a bit more varied at some point as well, I'm already getting sick of the same thing over and over again. -
I ended up buying Frontier. I seem to be in a very JRPG mood at the moment so I'm looking forward to trying it out.
-
I haven't started it yet but when it first came out I heard nothing but high praise and I loved FTL which they did prior to it.
-
I was looking at an entry point for the saga games myself yesterday as some are in the sales. Settled on either Romancing Saga 3 or Saga Frontier from Reddit posts.

Grabbed some more games in todays eshop sale: Final Fantasy VII (Apparently I just like to own this everywhere) Scott Pilgrim vs the World Into the Breach Vampire Survivors (Doesn't feel like a handheld without this so another double dip) Chrono Cross
-
Probably a good idea for a thread there. Interesting to see them all listed.

I use PSPrices email notifications for any wishlist stuff

Ah nice thanks. Google lied to me then! Time to see what else I own!
-
Is there no way to see your previously purchased games on the eshop? I can look at my purchase history but that only goes back a year. I'd completely forgotten I already owned Dead Cells on there until I happened to look at it browsing the store.

Not surprisingly my day of gaming didn't give me enough data for the year in review site

Yeah I've played the Dread demo before and just finished trying it again. I love the way the game plays and everything around it but despise those chase sequences. Luigi's Mansion 1 I loved, 2 not so much but I think that's because I thought the multiple mansions watered the game down too much. I never played Skyward Sword on Wii, for me it was the controls. I cannot stand motion controls.
-
Yeah so as you said third party stuff will be elsewhere. Older Switch stuff like Mario Odyssey etc was already played the first time around. Games I'll get once I clear through some of the current lot: Sktyward Sword HD Link's Awakeing Luigi's Mansion 3 Metroid Dread (Still debating this one as I hate chase mechanics in games)

Started playing TOTK today. Not got off to the best of starts. I'm sure most people loved creating loads of stuff but I'm finding it more of a hassle than anything and all this Zonai stuff that's being thrown at me so early on is really overwhelming. -

I ended up ordering a copy anyway. A short RPG could be quite nice over Christmas. -

I never did play Super Mario RPG back in the day. How does it compare to the Mario & Luigi rpgs? -

What did you think of the combat? I tried the demo last night but found myself a bit put off by the combat. I'm hoping it's just that I need to get used to it because I do still love the look of the game. -
