  1. The Science Of Sleep, There Will Be Blood, The Fountain, Synecdoche... Too many great films to pick one.
  2. I don't have a job, so making conversation is no trouble at all.
  3. Celebrity Big Brother

K-Fed and Dustin Diamond have been confirmed as the replacements.
  4. Rate the last film you saw

Daft: That might well be the most insightful review i've ever read.
  5. Celebrity Big Brother

The Towers Of London are ignorant asshole who make shit music just to pull girls and make money. The documentary just showed them for what dickheads they are and Donny being in Big Brother will only do bad for the band, which is good for everyone else. And why the hell did they let Ken Russell go in? He's almost 80 and is clearly senile. It's just depressing.

Erm... those guys who saw Spirited Away. Watch the original Japanese version with subtitles. The dialogue is different and it's a lot more enjoyable and engrossing. The dub is just awful.
  7. The Year That Was... 2006

I drunkenly pulled a fat chick, failed to get a job, got a track released on a compilation, almost got chucked out of college, had several haircuts, foolishly went to see "Casino Royale", went to All Tomorrow's Parties twice and saw a lot of amazing bands, I got a Wii, embaressed myself on several occassions, embaressed myself in front of a chick i apparently liked. Oh, and Joanna Newsom released a new album. So all in all, 2006 was quite good, despite there being many, many low points.
  8. Your Holiday Goals

I plan to sob over the fact that I'm not getting a Wii, write some souless poetry and ignore the existance of a new years party and instead, play with party poppers in Animal Crossing. Then i'll throw up sick and blood because nobody wuvs me.
  9. The Movie Making Thread

And with that, I resurrect this thread, in honour of those who didn't make it. I've just finished a short film called "Neu Lloyd" which was made with absolutely no money. The video is a little bit dark at the start, but otherwise everything can be seen clearly. I hope you enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNQLSd5mAe8

Is that the rubs, pretentious one that one Best Picture last year, or the amazing David Cronenberg one from 1995? It best be the Cronenberg one...
  11. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

He'll obviously die. And Ron will become a Hentai director and Hermione will have to sell her body in order to further her studies. And Hagrid will dig up Dumbledore's corpse and bone it like it's never been boned before while Harry investigates the defiling of Dumbledore's grave. All of us with the advance copy have known this for years. Geez!
  12. "Lil Chris"

There ain't nothing wrong with mindless pop though. As long as it's actually good. Lil' Chris' songs are damn catchy, but they're not very good. On the other hand some of Justin Timberlakes stuff is incredibly avant garde for such a high profile popstar, yet he still remains successful. Granted though the only incredible thing about any decent JT song is the production. The Neptunes produced him when they were good and now Timbaland's on fire again and guess who he's producing? Lucky ass JT. And don't forget Nelly Furtado (Maneater and Promiscuous anyway... you can forget the rest of the stuff she releases off this album)
  13. "Lil Chris"

To his credit, Lil' Chris sure can make a good chorus.
  14. "Writing To Escape, Drinking To Forget"

Well it's structure felt a little out of place to me and it also felt far too wordy. The structure seemed far too disjointed and takes you out of the reality of the piece. It would read much better as one long piece of prose, without the diary-esque time breaks and I think it would definately flow better as a shorter piece. You could still leak the information about his problems throughout but I think it would certainly be more succesful if it were shorter. About the 21st Century Sonnet, I just found it to be quite an obvious thing to do. It's more to do with personal preference though, I just don't like things being so literal. Also, you seem like too much of a career writer and far too up yourself and only prose can have a narrative? When did they come up with that rule??

Fierce_Link: The thing about "The Secretary" is that it seemed like they wanted to make a film that was tonally similar to Lynch or Cronenberg, but seemed to be more schooled in making sweet, rom-com type films. So they ended up with a film that had a few genuinely strange moments but in the end was simply a disjointed love story. It was definately enjoyable (if only for Maggie Gyllenhall) but I can't help thinking it could have been something much, much better.
  16. "Writing To Escape, Drinking To Forget"

Sorry to disagree, but I didn't like it. Pretty cliche and didn't really have any compulsion to read on. And your 21st Century Sonnet is an uninspired, unsubtle piece of writing that a load of GCSE English students are writing variations of for their coursework.
  17. Your Top 5 Favourite Movies

Julien Donkey-Boy Mullholland Drive Dancer In The Dark Adaptation Magnolia In some order or another.
  18. Albums of the year!

Man, I didn't realise yous guys had such rubs taste in music. I knew Platty did, but he luffs the subways, so it's to be expected. Other than a couple of people who liked The Knife and Sonic Youth, you all be rubs. Read more than the NME (or Q) and watch more than Scuzz, Kerrang or MTV2, you might learn how to be like me, then the world would be free of disease. Dudes, yo' idium is rubs. Peace. EDIT: Okay, some dude liked The Rapture too, but other than that, refer to teh above post.
  19. Boris Johnson

Yes, he's funny. But he's a tory arsehole, therefore he is rubs.
  20. "Lil Chris"

But Lil' Chris is an immortal dwarf who's amazing at chorus'.
  21. Your first game

Either Super Mario World or Tetris. They arrived in our house the same Christmas. I would've been 5 either way, in the grand old year of 1992. I didn't get my own console until the following year (although it might have been 92' aswell, i'm not too sure) when I recieved a NES for Christmas with Maniac Mansion, Dr Mario and Isolated Warrior. Maniac Mansion was definately my first favourite game, even if I had no idea how to complete it back then, but the music was ace so I didn't care.
  22. Albums of the year!

Dan Dare: Deep Cuts was released in 2004. Silent Shout was the album that The Knife released in 2006. Please correct yourself, unless you just made a huge fool of yourself, then you may carry on. 1. Joanna Newsom - Ys 2. The Knife - Silent Shout 3. Erase Errata - Nightlife 4. Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped 5. Love Is All - Nine Times That Same Song I'm only going to post 5 to be pompous and cool.
  23. This Morning With Richard Not Judy wasn't underrated, it was just under watched. The BBC never advertised it and put it on in bollocks timeslots.
  24. Watching Devendra Banhart play live at Reading a few years ago. Shit festival, shit stage, fucking incredible performance. Back when Devendra played gigs with just him and a guitar, with another guy playing steel guitar on a few songs. After about 20 minutes I went into a trance and didn't click out of it until at least the next day.
