@Glen\-i Yeah, I get what you're saying. I'll make a decision closer to the time on whether I actually want this game or whether I'm better waiting until Splatoon 2 comes out and buying that as a boxed game. I think it'll depend on whether anyone else in the family would be interested in it and whether I think there will be enough of a single player campaign. I'll also use reviews as a guide too, but let's be fair, the amount of games I've bought and never finished probably says a lot. From the ads though it sounds like there's a lot more variety in the game than just fighting and volleyball considering one trailer shows basketball as one of the options.

Been a while... Got to admit I haven't been gaming ever so much over the past month but here's what I have done. Finished The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch). Definitely a fantastic game though maybe because of circumstances it hasn't really sunk in as much as it should do. Had a blast playing it though and enjoyed my time very much. Played some more Fast RMX (Switch) but without being able to commit to it a lot my gaming time ended up going towards finishing Pokemon Soul Silver (DS). I beat Red then took a look at my gaming collection to see what I'd yet to finish, and Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS) was one such game. After being Mission 12 which I'd been stuck on for ages I've made some solid progress and reached Mission 19. Taking a break from the game for ARMS (Switch) while the Global Testpunch is going on. So, games I've beaten this year so far are: Final Fantasy X Xenoblade Chronicles X Kingdom Hearts II The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Pokemon SoulSilver Games I still have to finish with immediate interest Fast RMX Metroid Prime: Federation Force Mass Effect 3 Golden Sun And other games I'm looking to finish at some point are: LEGO Star Wars II Burnout 2 Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins Donkey Kong (Game Boy)

Tried this out over the weekend. Was absolutely abysmal at first, however after about 3 test sessions I seem to be getting the hang of things a bit. Fighting games have never been my best genre but as long as I lost while knowing what I was doing and at least trying to fight somewhat competently then I'm OK. Rocking the ninja guy and it took me a few goes to try and find out what my favourite combination was. Had a pretty epic victory when I was knocked down to about one health left and came back to win. I don't like the motion controls on this, but with button controls it's a perfectly reasonable fighting game with some decent strategy to it. Hopefully the full game will be more in depth and an actual single player tournament campaign will help refine players to get to know how all the different arm weapons work as well as unlocking new ones. Plus with a lack of boxed games on the Switch so far (Breath of the Wild being the only one I've got so far) I'm tempted to pick this up.
  4. FAST RMX

Certainly finding this game a challenge so far. Gone back to this after finishing Zelda but race results have been very mixed. Able to win consitstently on some tracks but then I keep crashing out multiple times and finishing last on others, the remix does seem to make for a very varied difficulty throughout each cup. Not interested in doing online until I've raced all the tracks in single player, which is something I also do with Mario Kart too. Having to learn the tracks on lap 1 while also needing to get results can be a bit problematic.
  5. Formula 1 2017

Yeah, really been great so far this season. China especially was a great race with some great overtaking moves, Bahrain wasn't half bad either and it's nice to finally see another team up there alongside Mercedes, because I just became flat out bored with F1 after last season despite seeing Rosberg retire. New cars have reinvigorated my interest though. Been following F1 for a very long time now, started watching it in 1998 though I was always on and off until 2009 when I started watching every single race which I did from then until now. Mostly neutral towards all drivers and teams but if I had to pick a favourite team it would either be McLaren or Renault. So, kind of disappointed both are doing bad/average right now, especially McLaren. This is a team that were regular race winners 5 years ago and now they've dropped to backmarker standard. Fair enough to Alonso doing the Indy 500, if it helps motivate him to continue performing then so be it but I do suspect that such an event might mark the start of his F1 exit. Hoping Bottas can win a race this year, so disappointing for him today after getting pole position and then losing out to both Vettel and Hamilton.
  6. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Yay, four more Mega Stones which I can't use due to not having said Pokemon in Sun and Moon... In other, possibly more significant news, the Pokemon company has officially revealed Marshadow. Given the Ash-Pikachu looks like being the big gift this year I would have thought a Marshadow movie next year would be around the time we would be able to get Marshadow, but apparently if they're revealing it now it's probably going to come sooner than that. Either that or they are just trying to potentially avoid Twitter harassment from everyone who already knew about Marshadow. EDIT: Whoops, forgot to read the new page.
  7. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Traded Solgaleo for Lunala and back again so I now have 100% complete Alolan Pokedex. Not really much to do in-game now so I guess Moon will be back on the backburner, I've finally started Zelda after all...

Best thing about Final Fantasy VII's plot is how everything takes on a whole new meaning once the plot twists reveal themselves. That to me is a sign of a great story.

You could always watch a youtube video of the cutscenes up until the point you are in the game as long as you remember what point you are at. I did that with Xenoblade X and it really helped in the end. Anyway, got started on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch). This game is already proving quite addicting although if I had to describe it so far it feels like Zelda meets Dark Souls meets Shadow of the Colossus meets Lost, all set in an open world. Already had at least 5 Game Overs and only just got to the point where I can pay for and name my horse. It was also a very different experience when the first thing I had a chance to pay for I had 0 Rupees. They're going to be so hard to find now and... OH NO!!! Also been playing Fast RMX on the Switch. Has taken a while for me to get used to how the game mechanics work and been ages since I played F-Zero GX but I think I'm starting to get a feel for the gameplay. Finished the first cup in the game and tackled the one you unlock for doing it afterwards. Probably going to do all the tracks before I even try online so that I have a feel for what I'm doing.
  10. FAST RMX

Started playing this game the other day upon obtaining a Switch. First race I came 6th after getting confused about how the switching mechanic worked until the final lap. Next race I won, so naturally I decided to edit the following screenshot with an F-Zero reference: Final race I did pretty poorly in, not knowing how the boost start mechanic worked meant I lost pole position on the first lap and then the race was over when I ran into one of those purple liquid falls. Came 3rd overall. So, erm, how do you pull off Boost starts?

Just finished Kingdom Hearts II on PS2. Took a photo of the results screen at the end having finished the game at Level 56/57. Overall some tricky fights, mainly the Xaldin fight and the first phase of the second part of the final fight, but it wasn't really anything that I got stuck on for a really long time like the second phase of the final fight in the first game. And that sums it up really, the game is rather easy overall and just mashing X and upgrading your abilities throughout the game leads to some ridiculous combos. However, I do understand why I've seen people have Axel in their signatures on gaming websites so often. Next up, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Better late than never...
  12. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Dang... That Seismitoad you were using did seem to have a pretty similar moveset to the one I have on my White team. I saw Poison Jab, Earthquake and Drain Punch on it, and with my own one I had these moves plus Surf for the STAB Water coverage (even though Waterfall would have been better for it but Seismitoad was my water type on the team and obviously I needed someone to Surf on, not necessarily someone to use Waterfall). I've got to admit though the fact that Seismitoad couldn't learn Ice moves made the Dragon gym very challenging. Anyway, had a few double battles recently, experimenting with a dual wall lead. The first one was actually quite a good evenly contested battle between myself and my opponent but I think the match ended in him forfeiting when he was down to just his Tapu Lele. Would have been fun to see if he could have somehow managed to pull it back. BKDW-WWWW-WWW6-CXUQ Then in this battle against a rain team things were going quite badly (Silvally switch was the worst switch ever) but towards the end I though that I could be in a position where, with the Raichu having been taken out, I was intending to stall out with my Toxapex to try and have an epic turnaround, only for the Politoed to freeze me and then reveal that it was trying to get the freezehax all along because it was hiding that it knew Earthquake all that time, I had been under the impression that all that they had left were Pokemon with not very effective moves against me. 13. Pokémon Sun/Moon

To be honest I always thought the reason it has had a surge in popularity is because it can learn Burn Up via Egg Move and is the best Pokemon statwise that can learn that move. Effectively removing all weaknesses. I did check Smogon after posting that video and it seems that the Arcanine set used was a standard Smogon set. I may just stick with my Battle Tree team for online battles from now on.
  14. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Yeah, they need to be able to keep it so that if you wanted to battle your friend's team but theirs is on the Switch and yours is on the 3DS, that you could still do such a thing. Especially when you get people who might play through the games together at the same time and battle each other at certain points. Used to battle my brother after every gym back in Gen 4 and I've seen on Youtube others that do something similar albeit with a bit less routine.
  15. Pokémon Sun/Moon

So, apparently Arcanine can under the right circumstances be effective as a Physical Wall. This Arcanine set completely destroyed me, but then I did bring an all physical attacking team so that didn't help matters. 8D4W-WWWW-WWW6-8KJS
  16. Should I get a switch right now?

Personally I think it's a bit too soon to be getting a Switch. There are some good games out for sure but with hardware problems and the fact that a good chunk of these are going to be short indie games, Zelda aside, it's not really worth getting just yet, and even then you can get Breath of the Wild on Wii U. I would say wait until the Switch starts coming out with the previous hardware problems fixed before cashing in. Especially when Super Mario Odyssey comes out, that and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are going to be key single player games going forward although I will be surprised if Xenoblade 2 does actually come out this year, 2018 seems more likely to me.
  17. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Got to admit, Rockruff is one of my favourite Pokemon that they introduced this Gen too and I went with one on my team He doesn't start out with any Rock type moves though, you have to get it I think up to Level 17 before it gets Rock Throw, but when it evolves it's attack stat is really good. Only issues really are that it's unique evolution method gives it better stats in Sun than it does in Moon and it's type coverage is extremely limited outside of Rock and Dark moves. It has uses but it's type coverage is a bit more niche, I think the only other move it can learn that isn't Normal, Rock or Dark is Brick Break and that's only after it evolves. Overall I found the first two grand trials to be best done with Dartrix. There are some really cool Pokemon on the next island though but since you're using all three starters you may not have as much of a need for them as I did. Also, Grubbin and Crabrawler will not evolve into their final forms until you reach a certain point in the game, regardless of how overlevelled they might end up getting.
  18. The Best Gaming Music Ever.

OK, I was not expecting to find a tune like this in a Kingdom Hearts game but, wow this song is awesome. Audio
  19. Your 2017 Gaming Diary

Took a break from Pokemon SoulSilver because I picked up Kingdom Hearts II (PS2) on the cheap. Playing that as something to keep me going until I can finally play Breath of the Wild (it's a complicated story). On the battle against the 1000 Heartless at the moment so made quite a fair amount of progress. Controls are so much better than the first game (camera being on the right stick is so much better than the shoulder buttons) but I also feel like the improvements to the combat and the amount of hits you can do in a single combo which rank up quite rapidly after a few levels from the basic combat which makes defeating enemies rather easier. I suppose I did pick the power option but the only boss battle I failed at so far is the Barbossa fight and that's more because I didn't realise that if Jack Sparrow died it was Game Over (playing on Normal difficulty). That said, the first game's boss fights were rather easy for the most part and then Ursula turned up and was a massive difficulty spike, with the late game fights being even more of a challenge. This game also seems to continue the first game's trend of extremely repeititve in battle quotes ("GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!", "DANCE WATER DANCE", "THAT'S RIGHT AWAY YOU GO!") although I did like the scene when Tifa was asking if Sora has seen someone with spiky hair.
  20. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Chers. Got them now, although they aren't much use since I don't have Mewtwo. I don't have Pokemon Bank because I'm not prepared to have a subscription to such a service when I've already got enough things to pay for monthly. Only really have online stuff for lifespan in the game now since I actually managed to get my entire team up to Level 100 which is something I aimed for in past games but never actually managed to do in an initial playthrough, only to go back to them later. Haven't done any Hyper Training yet because I'm waiting on being able to battle two friends of mine, however they still haven't finished the game yet either because they've been busy with work or other games so I'm waiting on being able to battle both of them before I go ahead with Hyper Training. That said, it's still fun to go online with my in-game team which I know is underpowered compared to the Pokemon I'm likely to face in Free Battle (even if they aren't EV trained they're usually pseudo-legendaries) and see if I can manage to win some. Unfortunately it seems that a fair few videos have now stopped working, including the battle against Glen last year.
  21. Pokémon Sun/Moon

After 3 months of failing to connect, my 3DS is finally working properly online again. No idea what went wrong in the first place, everything else in the house works So, I've finally completed my Alolan Pokedex. Got a Rampardos off GTS and now going to backtrack through this thread to view all the battle videos I couldn't view because I couldn't get online. Aside from the Pokemon Bank update and online competitions, have I missed any key Mystery Gift dates? EDIT: Forgot I still need Solgaleo. So not quite, but all regional Pokedexes are complete.
  22. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Update to Pokemon Sun and Moon's starter selection screen confirmed: [/JOKE] On a serious note it appears my 3DS' Wifi has stopped working so it looks like I'm not going to be able to get all these online rewards that are coming out. May have to consider getting a new 3DS.
  23. General Switch Discussion

Hope you're all enjoying your Switches. I've got to wait another month before I play with mine, family reasons since the console was too expensive for one person to realistically buy it so multiple people have bought it. Problem is we don't all live together anymore and I wasn't the one who actually went out and bought the console. Does each different user on the Switch give a different Switch ID or is it all one for every user registered?
  24. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

Well, the Switch is finally out. Nintendo has played their trump card, let's see how the consumers react. Also: [tweet]837462491412094976[/tweet]
  25. Nintendo eShop Direct - 28th Feb 2017 17.30GMT

Well, that's settled then. Getting Yooka-Laylee on the Switch when it comes out. Especially since I don't have any plans to get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Good range of games overall from indie developers although not much from series that I'm familiar with. I think we're getting Sonic Mania later down the line and I'm also hoping that Freedom Planet 2 comes to the Switch. I can't see Undertale coming to the Switch because Toby Fox says he would have to reprogram the entire game and he doesn't know any real programming languages other than Game Maker's, the game would have to be ported by another developer. Hopefully it doesn't take too long for the Switch to get Minecraft on it either like how it took the Wii U ages.
