  1. Horizon: Zero Dawn

It took me a while to remember you could actually melee things. I just threw everything in my quiver before I cottoned on. Ha! The Ropecaster is a must buy. It's a lot of fun seeing it pull a creature down. Feels epic. Good point. Except I'M the velociraptor in the grass!
  2. Horizon: Zero Dawn

It's weird to say but it's not really a knock on Zelda. If anything it's just a real strength of Horizon. @drahkon I think I might turn it up to Very Hard, too. I think difficulty really suits this game; I'm going to be hiding in the long grass like it's Jurassic Park.
  3. Horizon: Zero Dawn

I guess try not to read and see too much. I came to this pretty blind so everything is kind of surprising me. It's also an absurdly beautiful game. The videos really don't do it any justice, especially on Pro/4K. I know it's kind of blasphemous but it makes the open plain in Zelda seem...artificial, like a theme park ride. And I can't avoid the comparison because they share a lot of similarities. But I've only played an hour of BoW so far so that could easily change.
  4. Horizon: Zero Dawn

Looking forward to hearing what you think. Yes! It wasn't my active quest but I just stumbled across it. It's rare that I get that feeling of genuine discovery in a game and by god does this game have it. Climbing over that hillock and seeing that door carved into the mountain like almost nothing else in the world I'd seen so far, I was utterly compelled to know what was inside. I'm even reading through all the little data info dumps you find. I almost never do that in a game. I think I'm a little behind you. I'm not off to Meridian yet but I'm close to setting off.
  5. Horizon: Zero Dawn

I put the difficulty up to hard to make the sneaking/trapping/hunting a bit more necessary. I fucking love stalking through the long grass. I also happened across a massive door in the side of a mountain and there was an awesome dungeon type level in it with a boss to fight at the end. It was like the Vault of Glass in Destiny. A few puzzles and this would basically be a cyber-punk Zelda game.
  6. General Switch Discussion

I think Horizon and Zelda complement each other really well. They're both weirdly similar but also wildly different.
  7. Logan (2017)

I thought Logan was outstanding. It wasn't like watching a superhero film, it was like watching actual cinema. I think people have become so dulled to the potential of the genre that they are happy eat utter ass like Dr Strange and be happy about it. "There's water here..."
  8. Horizon: Zero Dawn

Digital Foundry did some comparisons; virtually indistinct from each other.
  9. Horizon: Zero Dawn

This is the best looking game I've ever played. The checkerboard rendering is some kind of black magic. I'm absolutely delighted with the PS4 Pro/4K TV set up. And its framerate is so wonderfully rock solid.
  10. No idea what to believe.
  11. Playstation Plus Free Games

Why wouldn't you download these games? Tearaway is rad.
  12. Alien: Covenant

Looks better than the shitmire that was Prometheus.
  13. The 'Other' Switch Thread

At this point I think I'd rather buy a PSVR than a Switch. But I would be surprised if that preference wasn't reversed in 18 months.
  14. Middle-earth: Shadow of War

I've been meaning to play through the first one, doubly so since it got its Pro patch. This looks great.
  15. The 'Other' Switch Thread

    I'm just jealous really.
  16. The 'Other' Switch Thread

I feel like Zelda is a game I wouldn't want to waste on lunch breaks. You can't beat a nice TV, good sound system and a few solid hours to get lost in it. I don't really think it's a case of owning a Switch taking away from existing game experiences, I think it's a case of everything is fighting for my time as it is and I don't need a Switch to add...it's single compelling game... ...that can be played on the Wii U anyway. [Edit: Just realised Hero just said this.] But I'm totally with you on how well Nintendo doing not really mattering to me, it's always going to be a secondary console. But with that comes the utter lack of need to be an early adopter.
  17. I think it's far more likely it is a manufacturing fault that occurred during scaling up production. Wouldn't they have noticed issues otherwise?
  18. It sounds similar to the issue I had with my launch PS4. Since switching to the Pro I've not had that issue (nor did that issue ever occur on the other PS4 system we had). I wouldn't be surprised if it was a similar hardware problem. Hopefully Nintendo acknowledge it...unlike Sony. I had a bad experience with my Wii launch controller too, so it's another reason for me to let the system bed in before I consider a purchase or not
  19. The 'Other' Switch Thread

Between Nioh, Horizon, Mass Effect, Persona 5 and Injustice 2 these few months are insane for me. It's pretty symptomatic of the situation Nintendo are in generally and why I haven't reconsidered for a second picking up a Switch since being excited initially. And later in the year, how is it going to compete with releases like Destiny 2, Wipeout, Ni no Kuni II and RDR 2? The rate of return on the PS4 at the moment is just too high. And that's before considering that I will barely have enough time for those games (and Overwatch, of course), let alone more.
  20. Overwatch

Lucio has an Area of Effect heal, so he just heals people by being near them. So he can heal the whole team at the same time as opposed to the other healers who target heal. Overwatch is a bit overwhelming to get used to because of the breadth of characters but you'll get used to it in not time.
  21. Nioh [PS4]

Just did the one after it where you go back through the house, so yeah. Good to know. I'm rocking Red Demon armour and a Spear. Think this is my set up now. Just need to farm for the armour text so I can forge my own. Under 30% weight, 20% damage buff to spears and a 30% reduction to Ki regeneration. It's INSANE.
  22. Nioh [PS4]

HALF WAY?! Sweet. I was actually slowing down a bit because I thought I might be creeping toward the end.
  23. Nioh [PS4]

I've just done the mission in the house with all those ninjas, where there are walls you can rotate. How far through do you reckon I am?
  24. Horizon: Zero Dawn

These reviews have really hyped me up. My recent games have been Overwatch, Nioh and Final Fantasy so I am ready for a good open world game (Because FFXV was...positively archaic).
  25. Weight Loss & Fitness 2017

I've decided to write myself a program (because why not?). I've used the basis of 5/3/1 and crossed it with PHUL. It's a four-day program; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Legs every day alternating between deadlifts and squats.Monday and Tuesday will focus on big heavy weights and Thursday and Friday will be focused on volume. I'm also eating more. I managed to bench 115kg earlier for a single good rep. Did a couple at 110kg. And then managed 6 reps at 100kg which I was pretty happy with after those other weights.
