  1. Virus - Vista Home Security 2011

Well after checking up on the performance of the Windows 7 Firewall this morning I have come to the conclusion you should kick it to the kerb as hard as you can while hopefully breaking its ribs in the process. Seriously the comodo firewall is highly regarded: Report here: http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php

Isn't that somewhat to be expected from a dual core widescreen 4.3 inch device? I think 24 hours is pretty good actually especially with the amount of syncing these devices tend to do throughout the day. I'd understand if coming from a blackberry you miss having 2-3 days on a single charge but seriously your looking at a 500-600Mhz processor with a tinny screen doing relatively little at all. Compared to a 1.2GHz dual core phone. In many of the reviews I've read people were impressed with how well the device sips battery with the hardware considered. Some people have been suspecting November for the I5/4GS. Want to put something here to check out later:

Their marketing can be quite confusing but I think regardless of what package you download it gives you the option to install either the antivirus, firewall or both, yeah pretty dumb but I guess it's kind of like an upsell even though its free. I usually use the link on the internet security package page which is the AV Defense+ and firewall in one: http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php As for an additional firewall I'm quite sure that microsoft has improved the built in firewall of windows 7. But I do remember with windows xp it only monitored incoming traffic but not outbound traffic so you were kind of screwed if you got infected with an ET phone home malware.

I was really looking forward to the HTC Sensation but I seriously don't think I could cope with just the 1GB of ROM, so I too have been leaning towards the SGS2. There are a few qualms I have about switching back to Samsung (has a D600 for 5 years) such as losing the notification light and there not being the ability to silence the phone using the volume rocker but I guess it's time to move on. I'll see what deal T-mobile will give me in September otherwise I'll be going sim free handset with a contract from 3 / giffgaff.
  7. Best data phone tariff (and value)

Giff gaff also seem to have a good deal too: For £10 a month get: 250 UK minutes Unlimited UK texts Unlimited Mobile Internet ( all you can eat) Free calls and texts to giffgaffers Only thing is though no tethering allowed on this network. http://giffgaff.com/index/offer

I take it then that you haven't heard of the Galaxy tab 10.1? Just found some random video. At work so I haven't seen this video so sorry if it doesn't explain much.

Does it come with ice cream like maybe Ben & Jerry's? I'm going on holiday to Florida in two month time and I'm dreading it in a way. Last time I was over there in '08 and I came back with an extra stone. The problem is out there they put this stuff called high fructose corn syrup in everything like even bread and that crap carries a whole bunch of health risks. Plus a "regular size" of anything is a supersized meal over here. Apparently the appartment we're staying in has a gym so I'll be hitting that every day to try and keep things constant.

Hmm, but I've heard that it uses gorilla glass which you can only get from Corning and uses the same IPS style screen as the ipad at a higher resolution. That being said I think your points about the UI are most likely valid as several updates from ASUS have been put out since. That being said the build quality isn't up there with the iPad but I think Samsung's got that covered. I quite like the eeepad but I'll be looking to get a new phone first, so by the time I'm ready for a tablet everyone will probably be going quad core tegra 3.

Sorry that I have been unable to reply The free version is free forever, however on that page they also offer the ability to try out the pro version free of charge for a year. The difference between the free version and pro version is that you have customer support, otherwise the two are pretty much the same. HIPS is essentially default deny. Apparently MCAffee Av has HIPS. In a nutshell the purpose is to stop malicous programs from running and causing damage to the user's machine. Prevention is always better than cure. Based on your configuration you can set it up to quarantine all unknown files. As they get sent to comodo labs for testing it will eventually end up on your whitelist if it's safe. There is room for improvement with comodo however as it's AV in tests comes of a little bit worse than say Norton. I looked at some test results recently and Norton scored 100% while Comodo came in at 97% but comparing apples to oranges i.e cost I could live with it. Also don't install geekbuddy I found it annoying. Basically it's a software version of having a "computer guy friend." Probably good for those who aren't good at PC maintenance, annoying if you are.
  12. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Just tried to update my elite. It seemed to be stuck in a boot loop then it restarted and starting applying the update again. I think it may have failed. And nevermind it seems to be ok again now.

Also as a follow up download Rkill: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic308364.html Then perhaps use malwarebytes antimalware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (Need to make sure that your PC doesn't have any STI's ) Get rid the poc that is AVG and get some antivirus program that has HIPS. Only one I know of is comodo:http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php (includes firewall and I find this way better than Vipre) Also this video explains how it works and also how you got infected: http://www.comodo.tv/home-computing/the-good-the-bad-the-unknown/ And remember prevention is better than a cure.

I posted a list of useful apps here: http://n-europe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1179913&postcount=45 Some of them I would say are now invalid (i.e no longer on market or started charging for a free service. Also I would choose lookout over wavesecure these days) Also check this out: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/05/19/36-best-and-2-wtf-new-android-apps-from-the-last-2-weeks-5611-51911/
  16. Seriously it's all about E3 06. That was the year when nintendo became the Don.

    And Motoblur
  18. The Android Thread

I think in terms of hit for hit punch for punch the Galaxy S2 comes off a little bit better. HTC lost the plot putting a measly 4GB of rom in there with 1GB to the user. Also no one say anything about Apps 2 SD because really it doesn't work out like one would like.
  19. What Have You Bought?

Just get the student version, you can still do a clean install from an upgrade even on a clean unused hard drive.
  20. The Android Thread

I was thinking about the S2 myself but I don't think I'm quite ready for Keis.
  21. Video Editing

Was going to say lightworks too professional industry grade software there which has been used to edit many blockbuster films.

The one I got is quite low in calories but come next pay day I'll be giving the tub to my brother and getting this one instead: http://www.discount-supplements.co.uk/sports-supplements-whey-protein-nutrisport-90-whey-protein-5kg Which is actually like 80 quid from the nutrisport's website. Lower calories and higher amount of protein per serving. Compare this to the maximuscle equivalent, I think it's pretty good. http://www.maximuscle.com/promax That being said I've read a few reviews about it not tasting too good. The optimum nutrition stuff tastes really great with milk or water. So if you do decide to go back to using protein supplements might be worth a look a this brand too.
  23. Fitness 2011

Had to restock on my protein. What kinda sucks is I found an alternative for the same price with way more servings. I stumbled upon this website after I purchased the O.N stuff http://www.discount-supplements.co.uk/ seriously have tons of stuff.
  24. The Android Thread

So with it being contract upgrade for some of us in a few months, what phones are you guys looking at. I was thinking of going from my desire to the sensation, but with only 4GB of ROM and 1GB usable for apps going forward I'm not too sure it will be enough for me. Especially that google has lifted the 50MB app limit and bumped it up to 4GB. Adobe Creative Suite for android anyone?
  25. Format A Hard Drive

Well he was 50% right, but that's totally way too much work. As for the other 50% all that would give you is a windows.old folder.
