  1. Which probably means you get a free Japanese mini. To tell the truth I can't see the difference between the two besides the boxes either. I mean both still give you the free booklet. So I don't know.

Well, you have to actually order it, to get it, fortunately I was already aware of this, so I chose a Pangya Golf gashapon.. In fact, after my order, I saw a Japanese movie which I also liked (Strawberry Shortcakes by the way), and it even had English subs (for a change). So I ordered that one, and another movie, so I'm getting 2 Pangya gashapon :D.

  2. [..]

And yeah the difference between limited editions in japan and normal editions, is normally always the box art. But you may also have additional photos / pictures inside the box. So just get the limited edition anyway.

Thanks for the reply, but the thing is, there are 2 different limited editions, and I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between them besides the boxart. They contain more extras than the regular edition, I can tell for sure. If I'm getting anything, it will be the LE, but the question is which one ;).

2 links to make clear which editions I'm talking about:

    - [Collector's edition]

    - ["Exphere" edition]

    Edit:

Never mind ;). I'm just going to assume they're practically the same. I've ordered the collector's ed., I like the art better, even though Collette is far from my favourite character (actually, my least favourite to be exact). I should get the first pressing even. I've ordered a bunch of other stuff to go with it, while I was at it (all from Yesasia by the way), including, finally, Rhythm Tengoku.

  3. About the DVD's, which version is the best? I think I've seen 3 versions, 1 regular, and 2 limited editions. But I couldn't tell any difference between those 2, except for the boxart. Or is that indeed the only difference?

I think I wanna order this, I loved the game, and I love anime, and I don't expect this to ever get a release over here with English subs, so I think I'm going to import this. But I'd have to know which version to get ;).

  4. Good going Smeagol! What kept you?!

You must have been well levelled up by the end, cos I found it gruelling from both a difficulty point of view and endurance - it took me a whole day to get through the final set of battles! But wasnt it worth it?! And, I did die once and had to redo it all hardy-harr-harr.

Lord Bane was a right pain, you're right to say that.

I really liked the end sequence/ credits. Super game.

What kept me? Ha.. Zelda TP.. Some Fire Emblem (also still not finished), some Magical Vacation (also not finished).. And some other still. Damn, I always intended to play 1 game at a time, but I always used to have 1 new game at a time :D. Now I'm trying to catch up on Cube games (and DS games to some extent), so I have plenty stuff to do.. I think I'll make finishing Fire Emblem my priority, then Magical Vacation, so I can properly start Resident Evil 4 en Final Fantasy 3. Oh and finish Phoenix Wright 1! But I got stuck at that one..

Anyway, I don't know what is considered a high level in this game. I normally like to grind, but I was glad I could finally avoid the random encounters while sailing in the end (by sailing in upper or deep sky). My Vyse was level 53 or 52, Aika & Fina were 52 or 51 I think, Drachma, which I had at the moment of the final battle, was level 40. I forgot what level Enrique and Gilder were, obviously something in between.

It was enough to make the final battles a breeze (also, for the ship battle, I had a stock of around 70 complete kits..). I kept dragging it out though, I didn't simply want to beat him, but I wanted to completely obliterate him, but he was too anoying for that (constantly eliminating my positive status changes).

It's the bounties in the game, that are hard though. After finishing tthe game, I checked out the Ice lands, and encountered ehh.. That guy with his lucky cat. He completely wasted me, I was trying my usual routine (first turn Fina's eternal blessing, then all next turns Aika's delta shield and Vyse's skull shield, the others will raise spirit, untill I can cast blue rogues). But his 2 sidekicks proved too much om my first (and only for now) try.

Oh and, my playtime is around 60 hours at the moment, dunno the exact number.

  5. Finally finished the main quest yesterday, or the day before. But there's still plenty of stuff to do. Jeez, that last set of battles, allthought not really hard, calls for some endurance.. But epic it was. Actually, that fight with lord Zyvilin (?) Bane, just before the big battle, was quite a bit harder. I was totally unprepared too, there wasn't a savespot in the near vicinity, and I didn't know I was going to encounter him.. Good thing I defeated him first time around then I guess, but it may have been the hardest battle for me up to that point (I was at a point, where only Drachma was alive, with very little HP, I really don't know how and why I still recovered :D).

Anyway, still plenty stuff to do, but there are some other games waiting to be finished (or even getting started on), so I think Piastol has to wait for a while (allthough I wish I could get her and Belleza in my party instead of Fina and Aika :P).

I guess now I can go to the beginning of this thread though, and read all the spoilers..

  6. I took the opportunity to order this game from Play. So I guess that's another game I can scratch off my list of Nintendo games I need to catch up on, along with Pikmin 1 and Phoenix Wright 1. It will be a while before I can play those games though, There are still several other games that need to be played..

  7. [..]

The Baby track is all about how you take the corners.

The power ups do the same as previous games, some specials are a bit naff, but how the hell do they do the opposite?

The MK64 'controls' are just stiff

Powerslides are slippery, but that's to make it easier to take corners with them (the boost is shit though)

Jumping is hardly used in Mario Kart anyway (CTR FTW!!!)

Maybe "exact opposite" is slightly exaggerated, but they don't behave quite the same as previous versions. Not being able to "hold" a banana, single shield, or fake box is a loss, it is a much used tactic. Personally I was quite fond af the tripple shield shells too. And I hope I remember this correctly, I've played this game only 3 times, but the blue shield doesn't follow the road anymore (only hitting the player in first position). Same goes for the red shells, they also don't follow the road anymore if you are the in first position (potentially hitting players behind you, or even yourself..). And there was something else about the red shells, but I can't remember exactly.

Also I don't like the boosts.. The seem out of place in Mario Kart to me. And maybe it's just me then, but powersliding (after a jump..) throught corners in MK 64 feels more natural to me, and much easier, while in MK DD, I can hardly keep my cart on the track.

  8. I really hate this game. People find me strange for this reason, but after reading this thread I'm obviously not the only one (allthough I may take my hate for MK DD to a new level). If it didn't come with the Cube, I wouldn't own this game. After reading reviews, I already thought it was pretty bad, then I get the game for free, and it still manages to disappoint me. Everything's wrong, the tracks (that baby mario & luigi track or whatever, is the most stupid track I've ever seen), the power-ups (they do the exact opposite of what you'd expect from previous versions), and probably most important, the controls suck. They absolutely don't feel as tight as MK 64. Powerslides feel slippery (?), and I miss jumping..

Oh and the multiplayer battle arenas suck too. I think I mentioned everything.

My copy will never see the inside of my Cube again. I should've bought that Resident Evil package instead.

I still have to play the DS version though, it seems to be pretty good, and I probably will still buy it someday.

  9. My collection is still growing ;). There's still some "rare" games I'd like to hunt down (and will succeed :P, sealed though). Beyond good & evil ìs one example, and I like to get Killer 7 as well.

In my collection now are Skies of Arcadia & Ikaruga, I got them both through those Amazon shops. A new title I'd like to mention, which I reckon is pretty rare, is Capcom vs SNK.

I must say though, it's much harder to get even the most common titles through conventional means (aka "store") nowadays. Most shops seem to have cleared their inventory of all old titles, and only sell recent titles (the few that are left). Several months ago, I could see plenty player's choice titles like Mario Sunshine (which I also still have to get) and Pikmin, but I don't see them anywhere anymore in stores. At least here in the area (=Rotterdam, Netherlands).

  10. There aren't actually that many games I've completed 100 %, and many games I used FAQs even for a little bit (well, not in the N64 days, I got tips from friends then..).

So I guess there's only one game I can really mention, it's Starfox 64. Faqs are useless, it's pure skill, but I did feel like I achieved something when getting all the medals on hard. I don't see me completing Assault with all gold medals (allthough, I don't think I'd really want to).

  11. Maybe it's a simple case of manual vs semi-manual ;). I bought this game along with Paper Mario and Baten Kaitos (I was in desperate need of a RPG fix), and played through all 3 games for a little bit, before "really" starting with Baten Kaitos, which seemed the most interesting of the 3 at the time. Any way, while play testing Tales I was also very disappointed with the controls, but I didn't know the inferior semi-manual control set-up was the default option.

It's the reason I can't really get into Tales of Phantasia.. They really should've implemented manual controls there too.

  12. I finally got this game and Resident Evil 4, a week ago, both sealed. Both are my first games in their respective series, so now my Cube collection is a bit more complete.

Anyway, I'm loving this game! (in fact, more than Resident Evil)

Allthough I must admit to having used GameFaqs for the current chapter. Chapter 13 or something, the first one where you actually encounter the Black Knight. There's so much going on on that map. I was going about my business, but then the Black Knight appears, those wyvern riders get active, and one of those vigilantes has my attention. So I checked the guide to find out what to do with those 2 characters (how to recruit them if possible) and now I know.

It's my first tactical RPG by the way, and like I said, I'm loving it, allthough their are some disadvantages compared to regular RPG's. I like to grind (well, at least level up considerately), but this game doesn't let you do that.. I really have to choose what characters to use and who will get the exp..

I'm also wondering, if it's possible to let everyone just die, and play through the game with just Ike.. I'm guessing not, but if you can, what a weird (and probably very hard) playthrough would that be..

  13. Does anyone know if there's Zelda TP merchandise available? I can't find anything on Yesasia or HLJ. I really want a TP artbook (to drewl all over the hot TP chicks :D), and I want a soundtrack, so I can just put the Malo Mart Hurule shop theme on a loop :D. Than imagine the cool figurines! /me wants..

But maybe someone here knows more about this than I do?

  14. Tears in my eyes!

I've been waiting for this longer than I actually own a GameCube I think :D.

And damn, this game is big.. It took me over 30 hours before I visited every main area I think.. I'm almost at 40 hours in the game, and I just finished the ehh snowpeak ruins temple (what's it called?).

I can't believe the stuff the put in.. It borrows mostly from OoT of course, but I've seen elements from most Zelda games.. It's also so cool to see which enemies they've put in, and discover their new updated "realistic" look.. I believe they're called helmasaurs, I couldn't believe they managed to sneak those in with this artstyle!

    Simply.. Amazed. Thanks Nintendo!!

  15. Yep, I've pre-ordered this game as well. It's a bit frustrating though, somebody just put to my attention the Wii's being released this friday, and while all Wii players will be able to play Zelda form that day, I (/we) have to wait another week.. Well, at least we're playing the real version :P.

(note: I'm not saying the Wii version won't be fun, I'm buying that one too when I buy a Wii eventually)

Hmm, allthough.. I wonder if I can contain myself. I could get impulsive and say "fuck it, I don't need new pants, I'm gonna buy a Wii instead".

Still, I'll play the Cube version of Zelda first either way. Argh, 2 more weeks!

Anyway, to me Zelda is now part of my Christmas feeling.. A Christmas isn't truly complete without a new Zelda :D..

  16. Yeah, Odama has always looked pretty good.

I've updated the list, and it all looks very thin. Everyone may aswell pack their GameCube's away after Zelda's release (if they haven't already) as I very much doubt we'll be seeing anymore titles after its release.

Baten Kaitos' sequal has been taken off the list, as I'm very doubtful it'll be released here.

I've mentioned it before, but there are plenty games I still want, I have some catching up to do. So I'm not packing up my Cube right after Zelda.

About Baten though.. I really hope it's still being released here eventually. If localization is a problem, just skip that and give us the English version (which is the version we Dutch need anyway (well, I'd prefer the Japanese version with English subs, but that's too much to ask :rolleyes)). What's really strange is that the best games show on our national television did a preview of it.. I assume they're not up-to-date on all things GameCube related, but they're usually reliable, that's why it's strange. They were pretty positive by the way.

If it's not coming out, I'm doing the hardcore thing, and import a US Cube and the game. I don't like freeloaders and stuff, hence the drastic measures. It would be ironic though.. If I'd do that. I'll end up with a Cube who can play games with progressive scan, but which can't support it, and a Cube which does support progressive scan, but can't play the games who have it.. <sigh>

  17. Not that I'm not getting the Wii version eventually, but this is the one I'm most looking forward to (even though it comes more than a week later, and yes I'm still expecting a December 15th release). In fact, yesterday I pre-ordered this game. I just don't think I can afford a Wii at launch (to be specific, a Wii, 3 remotes, 3 nunchucks, 2 classic controllers, Zelda, Red Steel, Super Monkey Ball & probably Rayman, and probably a Wii point card).

Damn, I have to wait another month!! :D. Oh well, it's worth it! It's been a while I think that I was looking forward this much to a game, those were Zelda OoT & Zelda MM :D.

Anyway, this won't be my last Cube game, I still have some catching up to do, there are plenty games I still want (RE 4, Batallion wars & Fire Emblem to name a few).

  18. Well one will come out on top, both Blu-ray and HD won't survive together, one will surpass the other, I really hope blu-ray flops!
Why? It's (theoratically) better. I hope HD-DVD flops. I'll definitely buy a blu-ray player at some point, but certainly not before 2008. I still have plenty of DVD titles to catch up! Oh and, I'm willing to bet neither blu-ray or HD-DVD will be common by the end of 2007, especially not in Europe.

    Anyway, about the news:

This is about that announced Japanese-only DVD playing Wii, isn't it?

I don't need DVD playback, but if this has a special design, like the Panasonic Qube had (that one really looked cool), it might be a fun excuse to play import titles. It would be very disappointing though, if this will be the black Wii I was waiting for..

  19. I've got the key and all the eggs. Nothing interesting about them, really. Just stuff they "removed" from the game (but still left the items there).

Not exactly true. They had a function back then, or more accurately, they were supposed to have a function. You were supposed to connect Banjo Tooie & Kazooie together, so you could access those items, and you would get extra things in Banjo Tooie. This is known as the infamous stop 'n swop. I believe you actually had to swap cassettes with the power on, so you could use the memory of the other game (to exchange data). But they didn't go through with this feature. It was a major disappointment for many fans :D. (when you've completed Kazooie 100 %, you know exactly what I mean).

Anyway, Kazooie en Tooie remain my favourite platformers of all time I think, allthough, like I've already said in the Banjo 360 thread, I haven't played many pure platformers recently (I should buy Sonic Rush or something). I remember exactly when I decided to buy it.. Before my vacation, I couldn't decide between Goemon and Banjo, I needed something epic at least! :D. Than during my vacation, I actually played some Banjo in a toystore there. When I got back, a friend bought Goemon, and returned it after just 1 day, because he had finished it. That's when I made my decision :D!. I obviously don't regret it. Click Clock Woods is my favourite platform level of all time! That level is just magical, it has such an enchanting forest atmosphere.. I really loved that level. Seeing all the changes thoughout the seasons..

And Rusty Bucket Bay is definitely the hardest. The placement of some of the items.. That's just sadistic :D. Also note where the ship is based, it says "Twycross" at the back.

  20. I liked the game. I think loved is giving it too much credit, but I definitely liked it. I didn't mind the collecting at all. The levels were gorgeous, I love the water level, with the lighttower, even thought it also had the most frustrating banana for me to collect. It really took me a long time to finish it, I was missing 2 bananas, one was the one you get from the big metallic fish (when you have to shoot the 3 propellors). The other one was a race with a.. Bunny? That one was easy, but I never was in the mood for it after the frustrating fish. It's very anoying to have to retry, you have to swim all the way back. Than suddenly, I found out there was a trick.. Argh. :|

Oh well, I got all the 201 bananas that day, and got to see the special ending (which is great! But too bad it doesn't show up in the menu).

Ooh and K.Rool.. He's a very typical Rare boss.. That fight's fantastic!.

Oh, and another thing I hated, allthough it didn't have to do with the game itself, was the extra expansion pack that came with it.. You couldn't get it seperately. I of course already had one, I bought one immediately with Turok 2. <sigh>

  21. I've watched the trailer, it was a pleasant surprise. The trailer is funny, but I really hate the looks of both Banjo & Kazooie. Knowing Rare fans though (just read Scribes), they'll send plenty complaint mails, demanding they improve the models. I'm actually surprised I haven't seen such mails last Scribes, but I guess it was too early. But yeah, I'm very much looking forward to it, 1 & 2 were my favourite platformers of all time (allthough I can't recall playing a recent pure platformer). I don't have an X-Box 360, I actually hoped to get one with Perfect Dark & Kameo (I'm still interested in those games, even after all the generally negative response), but now I'll have a new chance with Banjo Threeie (you know there's not going to be another name, they have to please the fans :D). So, I reckon I have 2 years to get a Wii, a PS3, and then a X-Box 360 with Banjo, Joanna & Kameo ;).

  22. Does anyone else think the new ship looks bad?

    [..]

No, you're not the only one. I hate it as well. But I don't know which one from the prime series I prefer though. I think the first one was closest to the original designs, but I think I like the second better. It was rounder I think, but I can't recall. En it had 3 engines at the bottom. Maybe someone can dig up some pics? :D

About the suits, obviously the zero suit is the best :D.

But as for power suits.. I think I may be boring, but I prefer the original standard yellow / orange (upgraded) power suit. I don't know what they're all called, but the pic somewhere above, the second suit from Echoes, I really, really hated that suit. And it got even worse when you get the jetpack! Jeez that looked horrible. Thankfully, not long after, you get the light suit, which is sexy indeed, but I still prefer the original power suit like I said. That said, I do like most other suits and colour variations, I do like the fusion suit generally, I also like the black suit, and personnaly I though dark Samus was awesome.. If they ever do a new Hunters (which I wouldn't mind, as long as it's completely seperate from the single player experience), they should include her (..It?) as a playable character.

  23. It is too bad, allthough it's somewhat logical, I believe the ehm.. Rumble motors are different. The N64 rumble pack is actually better I think, it supports more levels of vibration, that's why you can't use the Cube or wiimote controller's rumble.

But yeah, people who'll play OoT for the first time on VC, will completely miss all the rumble secrets, unless they find out by chance. I thought the rumble was great with Starfox 64, I really loved destroying bosses! :D

Oh well, luckily I have a N64 and a rumble pack, I'll buy some new batteries at one point.
