  1. Gran Turismo 5

Looked at the official car list and my mood for this dropped slightly. Where's my Ford Capri?!?!
  2. I <3 THE 90s

The 90s were a great decade for me. 16 bit gaming, good music, good films, adverts, pre-internet and later on the classic dial up noise became a common sound when internet did start to take off. But the 90s also did bad things, such as shape up how terrible mainstream music would become (i blame the spice girls *shudder*) and spawned the internet's march to power, which whilst good in many ways, effectively killed off many record labels, record shops and helped put the nail in Woolworth's coffin.
  3. 2010 - Wii's best ever year?

Definately Wii's best year, easily! Hopefully next year will also be a great year. We already have Kirby and Zelda set for release next year so that's a good start! I'm still waiting for 'The Last Story European Release Confirmed' to be a story on the N-E homepage.
  4. Donkey Kong Country Returns

You can't judge a game you haven't played simple as. I thought the motion controls on Mario Galaxy were going to make the game suck and how wrong was i assuming that? It's only used to control a couple of moves, it won't break the game. As to the argument on whether DKC2 is the best game on the SNES or not i would put it at number 1, but that's personal preference. You could look at any SNES games list and see any of the following games in the top 10, in any order*: -Donkey Kong Country 1/2 or 3 -Super Mario World 1 and 2 -Super Metroid -Zelda: ALTTP -Super Mario Kart -Secret of Mana -Street Fighter 2: Turbo I'm highly hyped for DKC: Returns and i doubt it will prevail over my love and nostalgia for DKC2 but i can foresee it being my favourite game on the wii quite easily. *PAL games only due to me still not getting over not having those great Square RPGs released here
  5. Retro consoles worth checking out?

I would be jealous but i think it'll have to wait til christmas anyway unfortunately You definately need to play those two! DKC2 is probably my favourite game ever and for me it's platforming perfection. Great worlds, enemies, bosses, characters, FANTASTIC soundtrack and lots to do with a good level of difficulty to keep you on your toes! Although i seem to be one of the few that doesn't like DKC3 all too much, a lot of people love it and it is a solid game that's also definately worth your time.
  6. Call of Duty: Black Ops

I completed this the other day and for the record, the campaign is brilliant - better than Modern Warfare in my opinion. Loved it. Online multiplayer is the usual okay, i never really get into it much. The zombies i played one round with some foreigners who all died on the first dog round and then i got ganked But the zombie mode seems addictive as ever and i look forward to playing it with some mates later on. What really surprised me though was Dead Ops, what a great little game that is! Overall, i like it a lot. Didn't disappoint me like Modern Warfare 2 did.
  7. Call of Duty: Black Ops

A problem for me with the Call of Duty franchise has been replayability. On the older titles i complete the campaign and then i put it down. I'm not really the type for online multiplayer but i enjoy the campaigns enough to play through them every time. While Spec Ops was...okay the zombie mode in World at War kept my attention span for longer and this game from what i'm getting has more modes and secrets to keep me amused for even longer. Now all i can do is wait and hope that Play actually gets this to me tomorrow morning. Goldeneye came on time but they posted this saturday, will be a bit peeved if it's not here tomorrow.
  8. Why thank you Although it's still not up to par with yours, i'm not yet at the stage where im looking through games saying 'oh look a gameboy...oh look another game boy!' Awesome collection there, truly : peace: And yeah, it's the little things that make a game truly special and truly yours. I've bought a lot of second hand games lately, but with a lot of them being new to me i can't look back and say 'hey i remember playing that' to a few of them and even if it's a game i did own, it doesn't compare to unearthing a game 10 years later and finding your game save. When i found those saves on that copy of ALTTP memories came rushing back, good times.
  9. That book sounds awesome! For rare stuff there's plenty of websites that list rare games. Rare games are either: - crap games which didn't sell well which are hence rare and which i don't buy - games that got pulled from shelves for whatever reason, such as tengen tetris - games that are great but for whatever reason didn't sell well, such as being 2d when 3d was all reviewers cared about, examples being Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Strider 2 - more commonly, released at the end of a consoles lifespan, kirby games have a habit of doing this which is why Kirby 64 is quite rare - or lastly which only applies to PAL, you'll get a game released in other pal territories but not here, which sometimes gets mixed up with the 'end of life release' which can create very rare games. Harvest Moon on the SNES is extremely hard to find, especially in english
  10. GoldenEye 007

I already praised this game on how good it was but i forgot to mention the little bits i didn't like, this may be just me but hey, my 2 minor complaints: 1) No pickup weapons in the multiplayer levels. This has always frustrated me that so many fps' now days don't use this, halo probably being the notable exception. It's just something i liked, which is probably why i like halo multiplayer. 2) The maps seem a bit too arena-like. The original Goldeneye had maps like caverns and facility, (which i know were taken from the single player), but they were fun with many paths and not too big. All the maps this one has seem a bit smallish and the Facility level to me is a big disappointment if you compare it to Goldeneye 64's Facility. Which isn't to say that it doesn't have good maps, of the 5 i've played i enjoyed Jungle and Station, but i feel they could have added a little bit more. Nitpicking i know but i loved the rest of the game and the multiplayers vast choice of characters and mods (Singularity + paintball + rubber grenades in multiplayer = awesome).
  11. 3DS Console Discussion

The classic controller pro has them, maybe Nintendo have finally seen this as a good idea, although Nintendo are known for not sticking to a set controller design.
  12. GoldenEye 007

Completed this today and the whole single player really holds up well, great campaign. Tried multiplayer splitscreen too and that was fun, though the maps i tried were hit and miss, the best i tried being Station and Jungle. Haven't tried all the maps out yet though.
  13. Have you been injured?

My only serious injury was about a year and a half ago. Was driving the car to my ex's and went round a corner at 60, front tyre hit a patch of mud and i ended up in a bush on the other side of the road and broke my collar bone. I was asked if i want morphine but being all manly i said no. Damn did i regret that on the car ride home. Ow!
  14. GoldenEye 007

Only had time to play the first level today because of work but so far it's fantastic! I got the classic controller with it so i have been using that and the controls once you get used to them are really good. Staying undetected is really satisfying and if you get caught then the gun battles are really good fun. The voice acting in this is brilliant, they have changed the characters and the way the story pans out in certain ways and i don't think they've butchered goldeneye at all, it all flows surprisingly well! Definately going to play more of the single player tomorrow and will be playing multiplayer tomorrow evening. Overall impressions so far: Surprisingly awesome, enjoying it more than any CoD game i've played, great controls, voice acting, story. Glad to see the goldeneye name hasn't been butchered this time round, (rogue agent...urgh) and it actually lives up to the name of Rare's master piece in my opinion. Obviously it'll never be as good, but it's damn close. Oh and a little bit of info which may help you if you had an issue i had. If you have a gamecube controller plugged into controller port 1 and your trying to play with a wiimote or classic controller you won't be able to get past the 'create a save to start the game screen.' That puzzled me for a few minutes.
  15. 3DS Console Discussion

The Wii is a good console but Nintendo buggered up what could have been an even better console. Features such as HD compatability, wii motion plus as standard, a sizeable hard drive to store data on and a better online setup than the bloody friend code system would have made it awesome.
  16. Sin & Punishment: Successor Of The Skies

Bugger. I paid the full 40 quid for this in blockbusters last friday. Then again, i saw it, wanted it, bought it. Haven't played too much of it, got to the boss at the end of the water part, stage 3 i think and died. Great game though! The wii controls fit this perfectly, so simple, yet the difficulty makes it a challenge. Hopefully i'll get round to finishing this on normal, although easy mode is always there if i get well and truly stuck.
  17. 3DS Console Discussion

Yeah i totally agree, (if it sounded like i was kissing Nintendo's arse, it wasn't meant to sound like that). A lot of what we're used to came from competition improving upon an idea, like sony using dual analogue sticks. Although it's motion control i wouldn't really compare the eyetoy to the wii remote, i'd say it was closer to the kinect, a different type of motion control if you see what i mean. Fun times cleaning windows with just your hands. :P Two different types of motion control, again showing improvements upon an idea. I always look forward to the next hardware release to see what they come up with next and how people will improve upon it. The Playstation Move is definately better than the wii remote, although i can't compare it to the motion plus as i don't own one, yet. I do think that Nintendo is more daring in bringing new ideas to the table though. The touch screen and motion control were big gambles that both paid off and thus microsoft and sony jumped on that band wagon. Microsoft on the other hand is in my opinion the king of online play, it's revolutionised it and xbox live performs better than both the ps3's and wii's online equivalents. But with Sony you always know your going to get a good piece of hardware with great graphics and something new, which this time is mainly bluray discs and of course 3D, which brings us to now and the 3DS which looks to be a great piece of kit with some decent power (something Nintendo of late has unfortunately not followed as much) and 3D without glasses.
  18. My 40" TV with an xbox360, PS2, Dreamcast, PS3, N64, Wii and Super Nintendo My little TV with a Sega Megadrive + Mega CD, Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Master System, Sega Saturn, Turbografx, PS1 and Gamecube. My game collection, a bit outdated but nearly all there. Two and a half shelves of games, other half of far shelf is dvds and cds. Also not pictured are my handhelds: DS, Gameboy, GB Colour, GB Advance, GB Advance SP and Gamegear. About 330ish games in total and more added with every pay cheque. Fun little hobby, but expensive. Edit: I should also really mention my 'rare' pieces. The rarest games i own are probably a PAL copy of Harvest Moon, Kirby 64, Banjo Tooie, Shenmue 1 and 2, Terranigma, Christmas Nights into Dreams, Conkers Bad Fur Day. All the games i buy with boxes and manuals so most of my NES games etc are boxed. The only reason i have loose carts is because of the console bundles i bought where the sellers chuck in extra bits and bobs - not complaining though! My most prized game must be my boxed and complete copy of Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, complete with my late father's game saves. High sentimental value.
  19. What Have You Bought?

Depends. If your a long time sonic fan who wants a potentially very good sonic game - buy colours. If not and you like fps' and loved goldeneye 64 - buy goldeneye. Me...i'm the latter.
  20. What Have You Bought?

Eww even worse! I've heard about those, hope you get it sorted.
  21. GoldenEye 007

Play.com sent me an email saying it's on it's way! Really looking forward to this, will have to watch the ign review now it's up. Will have a nice new shiny classic controller pro to play it on.
  22. Xbox360 Dashboard Update - Opinions?

I was thinking that i was going to hate the new update, but upon downloading it it looks pretty good. The new website and the new dashboard also seem to display a bit more information than before which is good. I haven't played enough to see how it works with my games, so this is purely by looking at it. Not bad i say.
  23. What Have You Bought?

I take it the battery has gone in the cart? I've been lucky on second hand games so far but i know that one of these days i'll get a duff one :S
  24. GoldenEye 007

That's great news. Taking the best bit from Nightfire and adding it to the Goldeneye formula gets a thumbs up from me! Only 4 days to go now.
