dabookerman Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I live in a council estate, i live in the posh block, the one outside the ghetto. I dont know how its like because i dont delve into them areas. Infact, i only go out when i have to.
Nintendork Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I think the problem is that people percieve council estates as uber violent places where there is no community. When in fact there is often more communal spirit in working class areas than in suburban middle class areas. (where how you park your car can cause a neighbourhood war) Of course the children have problems, their parents can't steer them straight because they're working 40 hour shifts to keep their families afloat. The idea that everyone on a council estate is on benefit illegally, housing immigrants and travelling 'gypsies' is just as gross misconception as the idea that everyone who is upper middle class is stuck up.
