Okay....Although I have an A-level in ICT which includes putting together computers I really know nothing about it.

Well anyway....My computer has dots all over the screen (though depending what's going on on screen depends how many and such etc etc).

That was fine with me, but now I can't play any games (WoW, City of Heroes, Empire at War etc:() because part way though playing the computer just crashes and there are black & blue lines running across the screen (you can also see a block where the mouse is, though this is still just black+blue lines)

Also, the fan on my graphics card doesn't work properly & when it started crashing like that the dots on screen increased. And I know it's not my monitor because this is the 2nd monitor since it started :heh:

Anyone know the best way to try and sort this? Thanks

Replace the fan in the video card and pray that the core of the gpu didn't fry when the fan stopped working. The graphic anomalies are basic symptoms of an overheating GPU.

GPU refering to the graphics card right? :heh: I don't speak comp lingo.

Would it be easier to replace the card?...and do most have the same connectiony thing to the board?

Oh sorry, just typed what run through my mind :)

Well replacing it is easier, but replacing the fan shouldn't be that hard. If you're thinking about upgrading the pc then go ahead and buy a new card.

I'd recommend that you don't switch brands though (from ati to nvidia and vice versa). But if you do want to do that, boot to safe mode and use drivercleaner, http://www.drivercleaner.net, to get rid of the old card's drivers.

It doesn't matter....I'm retiring from PC gaming possibly until I get a new computer.

If they're gonna make things so complicated they don't deserve me to play games.

I've even gone and cancelled my WoW account..
