Not to mention you could just pick the parts you wanted rather than being lumbered with either crappy onboard graphics or a machine with a powerful processor and a dated graphics card. But, if i had to pick one. It all depends on what kind of entertainment. If he wants games go for the Athlon, if not go for the Pentium D...

The only reason to go Intel would be if your a hardcore video encoding, everything else go AMD.
