Nintendo Network Agreement update

Recommended Posts

I'm sure most of us have had the following email this morning. Does anyone know what's changed, and more importantly if there's anything nasty in there, we should be aware of?

Dear User,

The terms of the Nintendo Network Agreement have been updated to meet new statutory requirements in the area of e-commerce and consumer protection.

You can view the new terms under http://microsite.nintendo-europe.com/terms/.

If you do not object to the updated terms within 4 weeks after they have been communicated to you, the new terms will be deemed to be accepted by you. The updated Nintendo Network Agreement comes into force on 13th June 2014.

It's the same thing that they mentioned when NNIDs came to the 3DS (they're just coming into force now).

IIRC, the only thing of note in there is the fact that you can't change your NNID's country of origin and that if you move to a different country, then you need to create a new NNID if you want it to reflect your new country of residence...

But that's exactly how it is at the moment anyway, so no real change in practice on the user's end :blank:

In the recent firmware update for 3DS it mentioned that as part of the agreement you give permission for Nintendo to use your online activity for marketing and promotional purposes. I've yet to see this message on WiiU so imagine the email is to ensure WiiU only owners get the message.
