Financial risk is a supposition, yes. However, seeing as they were impressed by it, it's the only logical reason.

 

Pokémon Rumble U was on the top of eShop charts for months. We don't have exact sales figures, however.

 

And again, as for Skylanders flopping, it'd be due to the expense in producing so many expensive figures that end up going unsold. That's what would make it worse.

Obviously it's not that clear cut if someone much closer to the deal has no idea why.

 

Also, I don't understand how the risk 'producing so many expensive figures that end up going unsold' - in a partnership with another company, I might add - is less of a risk than being the sole supporter of a platform that constitutes half of your company's output.

 

Those small figures are relatively very easier to produce. Predicting the necessary number for production is a matter of microeconomics and Nintendo - not to mention every other company that has any kind of product - has to do that. So, I guess, are you saying Nintendo didn't have faith in their own ability to bring a product to market? Strangely enough, the Wii U might prove that you're right in that case.
