Aimless Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I've never really been into fighting games and find myself constantly exasperated by the depiction of women in video games. Yet despite all reason, I've had a soft spot for DoA since the second one came out on the Dreamcast. Here's a trailer for the new one which also introduces a guest character, Akira from Virtua Fighter: It'll be interesting to see where Team Ninja tries to take the series now it's under new management; Dimensions was more of a collection than a new game. I'm far from a fighting game expert but it looks a bit more considered than DoA4, and it's intriguing to hear Hayashi's ideas on where the studio should be headed even if I have serious doubts about the attainability of those goals when Kasumi's practically falling out of her kunoichi garb. Are you looking forward to another DoA tournament, N-E?
Deathjam Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) Oh god looks like there is QTE in the game. Way to add more distractions to the actual fighting than there is already. EDIT: Forgot to think positive: at least Akira will be easier to play as than he was in Virtua Fighter (I hope). Edited March 6, 2012 by Deathjam
f00had Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Akira should fit in easily since the games have the exact same button layout, the only difference being that Dead or Alive has the whole hold system. I dunno if I'll get Dead or Alive 5, even though I enjoyed the 3DS game I already have too many fighting games that I barely play lol. I do like the brand new graphics, all the characters look great.

I don't want him to fit in, I want him to be dumbed down and easier to play lol. Akira had awesome moves and comboes but my god, you REALLY REALLY needed an arcade stick to pull-em off. Hold guard and kick (IIRC) and let go of guard after two frames just for a fricking knee?! Admitedly the knee was an important move as it was a good launcher but still, why so hard to pull off?!

According to this post there's room for more guest characters and Akira will have the same crazy strict inputs like VF My fave VF character is Lion but that was when I was a button bashing kid playing VF2 on the Sega Saturn :p BTW you can get a demo of this game with Ninja Gaiden 3 on Xbox 360 and PS3. The Collector's Edition of NG3 has 4 playable characters - Ryu Hayabusa, Ayane, Hitomi and Hayate. The normal Xbox 360 version only has Hitomi and Hayate and the PS3 version has Ryu and Ayane.
