azy Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Two years ago, I bought the parts for the PC I'm using now from Overclockers UK and CCL Computers but due to faulty hardware I had to underclock my xp2800+ to xp1700+ in order to make the PC run stable. The problem lies with my RAM (failed mem test software) and/ or my motherboard (a known faulty revision of Epox 8RDA3+). I found the customer service for Overclockers and CCL to be very long winded and tiresome so I gave up after several attempts to swap the hardware and stuck with the underclocked cpu. In a few months I'll have saved some cash to upgrade my computer so my question is, which place do you recommend to buy a PC? I'll probably upgrade the whole PC so a new tower is not out of the question. I have used CCL prior to buying the current PC I'm using and they were ok, but I was wondering if there are any other places to buy PC parts/ whole tower for a reasonable price. Thanks.
Raining_again Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 I bought a hard disk from amazon.co.uk and iver had no problems with it whatsoever. I am planning on an upgrade myself, and buying my stuff from microdirect.co.uk. Dabs.co.uk is also a good place to look for stuff aswell. Hope it helps. That was terribly unlucky with all the problems you have!
azy Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 I was looking at getting the "Ultima" AMD Athlon 64 3700 Dual DDR System from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/full_systems.html and if I buy the same parts from Dabs it saves £130 incl. delivery, and that's with a slightly better graphics card. Cheers for the tip.
