Retro_Link Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Rune Factory Coming to PS3 and Wii New multiplatform RPG to feature Move compatibility in PS3 version. Now that the PlayStation 3 has Wii-llike motion controls, publishers are at long last able to deliver motion-based multiplatform titles for the two systems. Rune Factory Oceans, just announced in Japan, appears to be one such title. The Rune Factory series is a spinoff of Harvest Moon that focuses on RPG elements while retaining all the farming and romance elements we've come to expect from Japan's number one virtual farming brand. The new PS3 and Wii title looks like it will follow in the footsteps of Rune Factory Frontier, a Wii exclusive entry that was released here to positive reviews in March of last year (see our review here). Oceans is set on the high seas. Midway through your adventure, you'll encounter a giant Ymir beast. This serves as your "ship." It's so powerful that, in addition to waging battles with other giant sea life, it can pick up submerged islands and sunken ships. You can, as you might expect, choose to farm om the former. Similar to the farming component, the game will retain many of the aspects one would expect from a Rune Factory game. You'll get into real time action-oriented battles with monsters, making use of swords, hammers and other weapons that can be upgraded via an item synthesis system. There will also be a romance component, including the ability to marry. Oceans takes some liberties in your choice of main character gender. The game has a male protagonist named Azel and a female protagonist named Sonia. You'll initially play the game switching off between the two characters. Eventually, you'll have to decide on one. Marvelous Entertainment, the series' Japanese publisher, lists a February 24 release date for Rune Factory Oceans. In its first look at the game this week, Weekly Famitsu magazine listed the PS3 version as being Move compatible, but did not share specifics. A release for outside of Japan has yet to be announced. (PS3 screens) I guess we'll be lucky to see this one over here!
killer kirby Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I heard that this game is more action focused then farming focused, if thats the case I really don't see the point of getting it, just be like every other JRPG out there at the moment
