sagat Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 How do you guys compare the price of retro consoles to today's consoles? I remember back in 93 when i bought my SNES it came with Starfox and i bought four other games. I think i paid £350 or so (double in today's money). I checked out the latest at the time, Philps CDi, Atari Jagaur, 3D0. The 3D0 was around the £700 mark so decided to buy the SNES. I can't believe these companies got away with it. I think modern consoles are much cheaper maybe with the exception of the PS3.

You mus also think of the inflation's effect on the price. If you translate todays pound with that of 1995, you'll realise that those formats cost ridiculous ammounts of money. I don't have an inflation index table in front of me, but I'd think that the 700 pounds of that time are worth about 1000 pounds today!
sagat Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 Very true. Back then i was fuming at those crazy prices. They tried to get away with daylight robbery but they all went busted in the end
